The problem for me is that there really is no need to replay these games. I played them on my DS when they came out and then fed my nostalgia with the 3DS version later. It's going to be a bloody decade before I feel the need to re-buy and re-play these games again.

It's the fact the shading doesn't work. It's like when you compare PC98 games to their remade counterparts. The shading on the PC98 games were legendary, the remakes despite having even greater access to colors then makes a subpar job of it by not enhancing the shading and highlights along with an increase in detail. The pixel version has its charm, the redraws lose it because its now competing with actual VN art and it looks cheaper by comparison. The shading and details are bad compared to something like a Sci;Adv VN and you can't see past that because the style of the portraits are that different.

I mean, this trilogy has been ported to 3 different devices to far. I'm surprised I can't play AA on my fridge at this point. It feels like they've kinda reached the entirety of the "new" crowd they're going to reach, and the only ones buying this will be already existing fans. Do you guys see AA7 coming out at any point, or do you think that the focus is going to shift to DGS for this kind of format of game? I hope the translation finishes soon so I can play it, I've heard good things about it.

I still have no idea why the trilogy wasn't in the English Nintendo Direct even though it was in the Japanese direct.
Instead we got utter garbage and barely working ports by EA in the reel alongside other trash. The Japanese direct actually had actual games in the sizzle reel.

The redraws just look like sprite filters to me, they're so messy, they look nothing like that actual artwork seen in the artbook.
And that's without me even getting into the issues with animation in the 3DS version.

GBA sprites will never look good outside of GBA and DS, no amount of redrawing unless some sensible changes will shake off the feeling you are playing a flash game at best.

The original sprites were actually based on hand drawn art. somtimes that art was rushed because it could be cleaned up later when it's converted to pixel art.

AA7 is probably a multiplat release from the get go, so they're just preparing everyone to catch up on the story and games, if they haven't played the series already. A collection with AA4, AA5, and AA6 is probably coming later before AA7 is out as well. I hope they actually bother with both Investigation games, both Dai Gyakuten Saibans, (also bring Profesor Layton vs Ace Attorney to more platforms as well, why not) in the future.
