If you've lived in the city, you would know that homeless guys tend to be pretty docile (they're usually mentally ill, in a passive way) unless you provoke them. The cop should have known better and gotten another two guys to back him up if he wanted those guys to relocate. I've seen that happen plenty of times and it's always the right call. He didn't and had to start a scene.

Again, I'm from New York. I've never been to the West Coast and I've heard plenty of horror stories from friends who worked at Silicon Valley. In New York City, it seems to be a completely different picture. San Francisco and Los Angeles are suffering from the consequences of the tech boom. For all the liberal posturing that goes on there, the tech companies are pushing out minorities and immigrants and replacing the older cultures with straight White people who claim to be "woke" but are usually full of shit. A lot of them have enough self-awareness to realize how fucked the situation is, but the ones in charge seem to be absolutely clueless. It's no wonder that the homeless people there are genuinely violent. They arguably have a good reason to feel like they're being fucked by the system.

Again, this just comes from my friends who are working there or have worked there. I'm an East Coast guy through and through.
