They thought they were gonna keep it alive by trickling content slowly but.... yeah. Doing a bad launch and thus driving away people was a worse option than delaying the launch because as it is a lot of people won't come back to it anymore.

Yeah delayed, then exclusive timed releases was the biggest blunder they made.

The RDO delay wasn't bad, the fact that they launched it without content is bad and the existence of the cash shop is also awkward in the current state of affairs. I'm low key starting to hope they intentionally sabotaged RDO to convince the publisher that singleplayer DLC is the way to go.

I got my plat this monday, so I thought I was pretty much done with sp for now and went back to play rdo for a bit yesterday
some of the new clothing items look cool, but why the fuck would they even add some of them to the catalogue if they're not available yet?
I also played a few showdown series matches and the few times it put me into hostile territory I noticed it still has horrible spawn points, I guess they're never gonna fix that, right? I mean it's like they release a new pvp mode and forget about the earlier ones, it seems like everything's gonna be left broken but we just get new stuff, most of them probably broken too

the thing is that I find the world of rdr2 so engaging I still enjoy most modes and events in rdo, but I'd have to be a fool to not see how little they give us, I mean it has LOTS of potential and they're focusing on all the wrong things imo

I mean if you have a shitload of money and pretty much nothing to spend it on it's fine to buy fucking emotes, but spending actual real money to get anything in rdo is just stupid and I hope people don't encourage them by paying for gold bars

I actually know a guy who's a friend of my friend who dumped a hundred on them. That was a while ago, so he probably bought even more. Despite our hatred for it, microtransactions are successful in the end thanks to whales.

funny thing, they actually tried to make it not do headshots in the first patch but it didn't work and they silently removed that from the patchnotes

It definitely seemed less accurate while trying to kill seagulls for the daily.

oh yeah, the daily challanges, I was actually looking forward to them, and I do liked some of them yesterday, but killing players from a moving train? there's no game mode including anything like that, so you can only do that in free roam, how does that make any sense when they're trying to reduce griefing and being hostile towards random players? the game wants you to get on a train and kill random people you can see to complete the challange
like I said, I liked some of them, but I hope we won't get bullshit ones like that too often

I keep hoping for it to become as engrossing as the singleplayer but it will never happen - mainly because of the community but also because of how the game is built. My second hope was for it to at least be a solidly made and fun game but that too seems unlikely to happen, anytime soon leastways.

You can earn your gear in-game for free, but you will spend years grinding the same missions that give the largest bounty.

I can think of 2 reasons
the first one, the more optimistic take, is that they're gonna release a big story DLC that includes a lot (if not all) the MP stuff as well. Dripfeeding MP content right now could possibly devalue the DLC coming later.

second one, the more cynical take is that R* simply wants people to play online now, and nothing else. SP has no additional monetization.

I know people love to shit on sadie here, but she would actually make sense for a dlc for fucking shit up, I mean if you beat the game with both arthur and john, towards the end it just doesn't feel right playing as a ruthless outlaw, they both seek redemption, but sadie has literally nothing to lose and she's also a pretty flawed character as she is by the end of the story, she makes stupid decisions, she's violent, she pretty much only loyal to her "job" when she's a bounty hunter but even that could change if they would want to give her a different direction, she could be perfect for a dlc where you just want to be an outlaw

yeah, it's not really rewarding but if you have a good time and you don't suck too much then you can get a pretty fair amount of money and gold without worrying about it

If you at least got reasonable amounts for doing the missions it'd be fine, they obviously want to funnel people into those because they create pvp scenarios, but they pay FUCK ALL, and are especially not worth the time specifically because of the pvp.

The real question is which is the best horse breed and coat?

well, I'm gonna get to it then later, it's only my second playthrough but taking my time with it, the first time around I pretty much rushed through the epilogues just to see the end of the game, now I've seen all the endings and I'd like to believe I explored most of the things around the world of the game, since I also got the plat for it

yeah, you have to do the challanges, I don't think there's a specific trophy for that, but the 100% completion requiers you to have maximum health/stamina/dead eye meters and that's only possible if you have all the equipments from the challanges as far as I know
when I decided I wanted the plat I thought I might go through it without literally any guide, but then I realized I don't have that much fucking free time, so I looked up a few things, like the last 10 dinosaur bones, maybe even a few dreamcatchers and the last location for the trophy called "It's art" because that's just ridiculous desu
if you want to get the plat and haven't finished the story yet, I implore you go for gold medals on your first tries on missions, because if you have to replay them you're gonna miss your horse and gear my friend

I don't have any hurry and I have finished the game twice fully, once just once for myself and once when I was streaming it. I thought that I was getting bored of the game on my second playthrough but after I was done with it and started my third playthrough I realized that I loved the game but it was just terrible to stream it maybe it was good that nobody watched the bit when I was playing around with the hooker's hanging, I was a bit obsessed with getting her neck stretched and used a full 2,5h session to get that sequence to happen

if you have the time I'd say go for it, I only plat games I REALLY love, and it was one of the thoughest desu but it was more about making time to actually do it, if it's not the case for you then it's actually pretty fun, espacially if you aim to explore all the map, some collectables point to other interesting things, godspeed user

Yeah I love this game and I intend on playing it forever. So I'll plat it eventually hopefully. And the sequence took rather long because I wasn't 100 percent sure on how to trigger the hanging to happen and I wanted to show off a way to kill the guards on the gallows, run off to the post office to get rid of the wanted level so you can chill on the gallows with the girl without the lawcucks throwing a fit and she has a bit of additional dialogue if you succeed. She'll also plead you to stay away from the lever and you can pull the switch to hang her yourself.

Anything worthwhile updated on the single-player? That's all that anyone cares about.

you can activate a parley or feud after just 1 kill to make it easier

RDRO is screwed on a base level when compared to GTAO, even not counting the shitty start it just won't have a way of keeping people around for nearly as long purely because of the setting. GTAO has the excuse of the modern setting to pull bullshit like flying cars and motorcycles that launch missiles or purely a shiny new supercar or helicopter to keep people enticed and playing. RDRO is the Wild West so it can't evolve past horses and the shitty guns that were used back then, it was doomed from the start.

I honestly had the most fun in GTAO customizing and driving cars (and not supercars at that, despite Rockstar's boner for them, they're just ugly to me) and that's something I'd just do in SP if they didn't make all the new cars exclusive.
Heists were interesting and all but there was always some idiot ruining everything.

I'm concerned about what will this mean for RDRO since it doesn't have that and the most interesting aspect was the life simulation and that's severely stripped down in MP.
