No, the gambling works because there is only a random chance of a reward, 1) that's inherently intoxicating, google skinner box, and 2) human brains are incredibly bad at understanding probability so it's much easier to trick people into paying 5 dollars for a 1% chance to get a reward than just having them pay 500 dollars for it upfront.
