Is there any point in investing in AMD?
1660ti is sub $300 and can do 1440p

CPUs
I have a 7870 should I buy this?
Go for it
No. The 1660ti only has 6gb vram which makes it stutter on 1440p. Get the Vega 56 which is cheaper and better than the 1660ti, the only drawback is you pay 1 more dollar every month in electricity.
>1660ti only has 6gb vram
So literally just a rebranded 1060? Who's the target audience here?
>1660ti is sub $300
>look up price in my country
>$500-$600
fuck
>use twice the power at similar price point
That is not true and you know it.
6GB will age badly when next gen consoles come out
Wait until Nvidia make a 1770 with at least 8GB VRAM
>So literally just a rebranded
No you retard, performance is more like 1070 levels
It's pretty solid value.
>+10 performance with -2gb RAM
>name it +600
hard pass famalam
AMD has been under pressure for about 5 years now. It doesn't seem to be bothering them that much, they just keep right on rehashing the same shit cards.
>Tfw 2080Ti
Go big or go home kids
why are you guys trying to market this shitty gpu so hard, go to /g/ fuck off.
is it time to retire my 960?
so if I want to play 1080p@60FPS or 1440p@30fps for at least 4 years what should I get?
Watching the PC hardware community get angry at each other over computer parts is always funny to me. I have an RX 590 because I wanted DMC5 and RE2. That's it. Does what I need it to, and buying really expensive graphics cards on the high end are just compensating for lazy developers making poorly optimized games on PC 99% of the time while using ultra settings that are meaningless performance hog. If you have a graphics card that was $200 and up from the last 3-5 years, you're perfectly fine with what you have. Just be smart with your settings. Beyond that, graphics cards are stagnating super hard while hiking to retarded prices. CPUs are where the real interesting stuff is at right now
a 1070, but Nvidia don't sell them anymore
The regular 1060 did and does 1440p at 60fps ultra on just about everything. Hell my old fucking 2GB 770 still did 1440p fine on medium low on new games
Your 770 did 30fps at 1440 with textures on low.
just wait for Navi tm soon
Lmao no it doesn't.
sure thing buddy
My 960 is still fine.
>590 is getting a price cut soon
might be time to upgrade
>supporting Nvidia after they purposely gimp your hardware
In some benchmarks its comparable to a Vega 56, in others its slower than a 590.
Still if you're planning to run Windows till the Windows 8 EOL (even if that's not really advisable) there's no issue going with Nvidia.
For just about any other user though you'll want an AMD card for the superior third-party open source drivers once you upgrade to GNU/Linux in a few months.
If you can hold off, Navi will probably be a bigger leap. I wouldn't really recommend the 590 unless you're comfortable with undervolting a little bit because the voltages out of the box are retarded. It's also not really worth overclocking, the performance gains I got from undervolting the 590 was basically the same as overclocking to it's Max while having much less heat
Is ayyMD really better on loonix? I installed the proprietary nvidia drivers and it's been fine.
I bought a 580 some months ago with two games, I am not planning to change it so soon since I game at 1080p and so far it runs everything I need. Not looking at cards until Navi comes out thats for sure
J-just wait until Navi! W-we'll destroy N-nvidia you b-b-raindead retard
>Sub $300
>costs over $400 in Sweden
I fucking hate the price of electronics here.
clearly they're happy producing apus for every single console developer
Are you blaming nvidia for a fallout 4 patch?
There are still people on Earth that trust Nvidia? Let me guess, all of those cards are going to be "sold out" then return in stock for $900 "due to demand", only to increase in price with each passing month. The only pressure they are putting on AMD is ripping off customers for profit.
AMD supports the free software movement, Nvidia doesn't. QED
fallout 4 was a nvidia shillworks title.
I don't get how Nvidia names their crads
Bought a gayming laptop with a 1050 cause i had no other option
It cannot run ANYTHING in 1080p 60
Friend's laptop has a 970 and it runs Hitman 2 at 60 while i barely get a pathetic 40
Just biding my time until proton hits a point where I can switch to Linux without a worry. SOON
As far as game performance goes you won't really have any issues, where AMD is better is in basic integration with the system. Nvidia will give you issues if you want to dig deeper into things, and could be problematic down the road due to the drivers not being open and falling behind.
AMD performance is really different on Linux vs Windows though. For instance here's an OpenGL benchmark, if that was the official driver from AMD on Windows the performance would be halved.
>that one dipshit who always comes in these thread and posts about their old shitty card getting good framerates at high settings with '0 problems' even though all the benchmarks disagree
>probably running at shit settings but are too dumb to notice
That's your fault for being an idiot.
With Nvidia, always buy the top end cards from the past over current gen budget cards.
DXVK hit 1.0 and Faudio was merged upstream literally yesterday.
There is no reason to stay on Windows at this point, its a legacy platform.
i think you as a consumer are incapable of reading, so here we are in this thread with you complaining about a company successfully scamming you because "big number better"
>please stop talking about things that affect videogame experiences, you just deleted my KH shitpost thread with 3 replies!!
>1060
>old shitty card
Are you retarded? It's not even 3 years old.
Not the original user by the way, I have 1060 6gb and run everything on ultra 1080p/60fps just fine, you don't need to be a paypig buying shiny new shit every year.
Really? Shit. I need to sell my Oculus and get a Vive so I can use it on Linux. That or sell it and wait for the next valve headset
>shilling for a "new" card that is just a downgraded 1070 which is only a slight step above 1060
>while calling the 1060 outdated shit
What is the 1660 then? Isn't it just new old?
Leading digit is usually generation, followed by where it fits in the lineup.
So a new *50 card will generally be better than the old *50 card, but with Nvidia never quite as good all the time as the previous gen's *60.
Sometimes you'll get a situation where the new cards completely outclass the old ones, but they're few and far between.
>1660
Didn't they just release a 1080 and then a 2080? What the fuck is going on with their numbering system?
1050 is a entry level card hence the 50 at the end
a 970, even tho a generation older is on the gaymen tier being a 70
Are you saying the free driver on linux is better than the proprietary on windows?
1060 is a good card but its not a 1440p card.
hitting the 10th generation made them go insane
They tried really hard to market the 2080 as "next gen" even though the performance bump was lower compared to 1080 vs 980, with the selling point being the half-assed RTX shit that only a few games use for tiny details while destroying your FPS.
durrr my 2018 dodge neon is slower than my buddies 2017 dodge challenger what gives
>Vega can do it better
>false
Yes sub $300 and can do 1440p the Vega 56 undervolted and overclocked is great.
Really nice value right now especially if you can sell the game bundle that comes with it. That is $60+ right there.
>laptop
>laptop
you and your friend are faggots
>finally decide to upgrade my 6 year old ultra toaster laptop
>on a budget so opt for a rx570 and a 2600
>nvidia announces their 1660 and 1650
>have to wait to see if its a meme and if amd will drop their prices
>amd is also going to release something mid this year
Am I going to be put into a loop of waiting to see if shit is a meme and never build this PC?
Yes.
OpenGL performance is 50-100% faster, RadV vs AMD's Vulkan is more of a mixed bag for native Vulkan games but has been developed in lockstep with DXVK so has significant benefits for D3D11 workloads.
If you're like me, I cant wait months for a product I know almost nothing about, I would play it safe and buy the 570 of squeeze a bit more for a 580 and then sell it a few months from now if Navi is actually good
where is the Vega sub-$300?
when did I support or say anything at all about the 1660?
when did I say the 1060 was outdated? I said it was old and shitty. A 3 year old bottom midrange card is old and shitty now btw.
>ultra 1080p/60fps just fine
Cool story. Good thing the post I was responding to said
>1440p at 60fps ultra on just about everything
I have no clue what the 1660 is. other than some low effort cash-in. After they had the balls to sell the 1060 3gb as a '1060' their modern naming went to shit anyways.
>see articles saying there's been price cuts
>few 1660ti's available at all
>all vegas in stock are $100 more
The 1660 is practically a 1060, there's nothing to see here other than someone deciding to dump some leftover chips.
that's not true, it performs a lot better.
Why is the name "16x0" for these cards?
They went with 2070 and 2080, shouldn't the other cards be "20x0" too?
You mean a 1070.
At one point do GPUs have diminishing returns?
2000 series is RTX, 1660 is not RTX. ( no ray tracing)
It goes back because it lacks RTX.
Wrong, the 1660 Ti slower than the 1070 and has less memory, it's like a mid point between the 1060 and 1070 where it's already a slim difference.
I thought price cuts were for the 580 and 590, not the Vega
>1770
Would be the ideal value enthusiast card. But it's not going to happen because Nvidia wouldn't want it to canibalize sales of the rtx 2060.
If they were aiming for a middle ground wouldn't 1500 make more sense for the series name? Does 1600 mean anything?
yeah, vega 56 / gtx 1070 / rtx 2060 range
It's because it's closer to the 20xx series than it is to the 10xx
The "price cut" was only a small number of cards that newegg had that sold out in like a day
If the vega 56 was actually regularly 280$ like the misleading articles all shilled it at it would be great value, but at 400 it's not really
Vega 56 gpt a $100+ drop in its MSRP, but the actual prices aren't going to drop until the retailers have to.
today while at bestbuy I found this
bestbuy.com
but the model on display had a i7 770k in it.
should I spring for that shit or nah?
>ctrl+f "Vega 64"
> 0 results
where my V64 bros at
Listen to the people that replied. Do not fall for the "lol vram isn't important ecks dee" meme from people literally forced to play at 720p because they don't have enough
T. Made that mistake but no longer.
burning in a housefire
>try to get tech advice
>non stop recommendation for shit ayymd products that are inferior to their competitor
nice bias
>If you can hold off, Navi will probably be
How long have people been saying this exact phrase.
>this just came out but just wait for the next great thing user!
Be waiting your whole fucking life if you took this advice
The main issue is the texture setting you have to use. 3-4GB is the minimum for medium most of the time.
>Get the Vega 56 which is cheaper
Link me to a Vega 56 cheaper than $279
Why are you asking for recommendations if you're only going to listen to your personal bias?
it's not personal when there's proof, price to performance.
I just want (You)s
>He went AMD instead of intel
>He went AMD instead of nvidia
Losing in both fronts yet you people support them, shameful.
Yeah
Keep supporting jews, fagget
>1060
>3 gb
No user. I did the same dumbass thing for a little less and ended up buying thing after thing to upgrade and just ended up half-assedly replacing the original computer. Be smart and go to pcpartpicker.com and just think it through
its 2019 grandpa, no one buys intel
>durrr their names r close they're practically the same thing
durrrrr it not like a 1070 the number r different. it practically a 1060 look at the numbers
Upgrade my GTX 750 soon?
existence is a concept created by jews for them to exert control over us, so why do you keep suppporting jews by existing?
>>durrr their names r close they're practically the same thing
No, their performance are.
>durrrrr it not like a 1070 the number r different.
Now look at actual user benchmarks instead of shill garbage.
gpu.userbenchmark.com
alright.
btw do you think by the end of this year another leap in tech is gonna happen or naw?
>trying to peddle a 6gb card as "1440p ready"
really now nshills?
literally vaporware
every v64 is sat in some chinks shitcoin factory
You AMD fanboys disgust me.
You forgot something. If you buy it for 279 you also get Resident Evil 2 HD, Destiny 2 and DMC 5, all of which I sold for 95€. Besides i bought it for 269€. geizhals.de
Also stop taking the power draw out of proportion. If youve seen Gamer Nexus video on it you would now that you can easily undervolt amd gpus without performance loss. Heck, its the current OC strategy for all new AMD cards.
>Is there any point in investing in AMD?
RX 580 8GB is better than the 1060 6GB, and is cheaper than the 1060 3GB.
statistical fact.
Fucking google it.
You shitty fucking sociopaths.
(I'm not a sociopath, you're all just corrupt cunts that should fucking burn because you've committed crimes against humanity you fucking retards.)
Same, got it before the bitcoin shit exploded and made GPUs expensive as fuck. I'm worried I won't be able to play DMC5 in a couple weeks.
Better Linux and open-source support than Nvidia.
The free open-source Linux driver for AMD cards is literally better than the Windows driver.
And the proprietary AMD driver on Linux for that matter.
On Linux the AMD driver exists inside the kernel, and in user space in an open-source software called mesa, which contains support for OpenGL, Vulkan, and DirectX9.
AMD actually hires employees to work on mesa and the Linux kernel.
can you cite instances in which 6gb buffer is insufficient for 1440p?
Sure but Navi IS releasing this year and is definitely on a new architecture compared to the 590 which is the same shit as the 580 and 480. The "wait" meme is only stupid when needed GPUs aren't so soon
I got mine from newegg for around $240 pre-tax with RE 2, DMC 5, and Division 2 around November
>they just keep right on rehashing the same shit cards.
AMD literally have a road map that you can take a lot at which shows anything but a rehash on the horizon. the fact you're not even aware of this is evident of your ignorant bias.
In the SAME damn boat. Doom 2016 and GTA 5 still run nicely but DMC 5 is scaring me.
>Forget actual game benchmarks, heres some synthetic benchmarks!
Are you an idiot?
>Is there any point in investing in AMD?
You're not supporting Nvidia being massive jews. Other than that, not much, I suppose.
>M-muh Intel for twice the price and 4 more frames a second!!
While AMD GPUs kinda suck compared to Nvidia, Intel straight up doesn't have any grounding on AMD CPUs.
Speccy is notorious for inaccurate temp reporting on AMD chipsets.
Delete this.
making investment decisions based on fee fee is a legit sub 80 IQ technique
Biggest bang for buck right now is a GTX 2060, but otherwise I'd recommend a 1660 Ti,
a 1070ti or a 1080.
or wait for price drops
not him but i'd like to remind you that much of nvidia's actual performance is software based and they've intentionally left previous gen cards behind in the past to sell new ones
Isn't it made in the same engine as RE2 Remake? Wasn't that well optimized? If that works fine on it then DMC5 might too.
>How dare this company that's better than its competition sell products that are higher priced!!!
I'd much rather support AMD than nvidia and intel who financially support SJW trash like fem freq. buy supporting nvidia and intel, you're literally contributing to the downfall of creative freedom in the video games industry.
Didn't get RE2 yet. gonna wait till the semester is over then sync time into it.
With how long you keep graphics cards you'd really benefit from getting an AMD card. Since the best drivers for AMD hardware are open they can be independently audited preventing performance degradation over time.
>foss drivers
>cute tan
I guess I'm buying AMD now
I guess. Nothing major has changed in performance but an upgrade during the Summer would be nice
Nvidia will continue their teeny-tiny incremental nonsense with differences between 11XX and 20XX but at this point just get something equivalent to the 1070 (2060 or 1160ti) and be content for the next 4 years.
Okay but they just released a 16gb card that isnt the end-all awesome its supposed to be on paper. Remember buying a gpu is about playing VIDYAGAEMS and not benchracing. Wait 5ever or fucking get something to use now and not next year
The 970 memes make me laugh, but they also hurt. I bought one and I still use it. I don't really play any demanding games so I haven't bothered to upgrade.
Sell your GPU and buy a new one with the same-ish performance but better memory.
Vega =/ Navi and there's evidence to support that AMD didn't want to release VII at all but already had it on the way because of one of their previous retarded heads. I forget his name. Do what you want, but considering how bad gpu pricing is right now anyway I just think giving it some months for Navi won't hurt
the 9600k pretty much btfo's amd in value for gaming
So this thing is approximately equal to a 1070? What's the point when it doesn't have any new features like the RTX 2060? Why not just keep making 1070s?
>fanboy
its called being smart. i had intel before, but when it was time to upgrade it didnt make sense buying anything other than amd
Months have turned into years user. I’ve heard the word “Navi” for like two years now. To me this is the same argument as
>dont get zen 1 wait for 2.. now wait for zen 3
me dumb babby to computer building. how much longer till I have to think about replacing my 1060 6gb?
>approximately equal
Worse, it's just plain worse.
Significantly increased margins.
5 years
when it runs your favourite games at 29fps
Well if Navi isn't this head then buying AMD will be bust anywag unless you're using linux
Only answer is 2080ti because the only reason to upgrade at this point is for res
No, it's called being poor or a hipster.
zen 1 is actually good, zen 2 is better and zen 3 will be the best
I've got a 1060 and I already want an upgrade. Kingdom Come and Metro can't even get 40fps sometimes.
>AMD Ryzen
>hipster
Get with the times, unless you buy your PCs at the local Wal-Mart or Best Buy
You should be getting whatever zen is out when you build your PC, they have all been solid.
I am happy with my ryzen build and my old fx build. I generally prefer Nvidia for GPU though
Cmon dude you're supposed to do better than this, don't be this obvious next time.
Congrats, you saved $20 on something that will run like shit because outside of benchmarks, things actually need drivers. You unironic retard.
What are you talking about? AMD has the best drivers.
You're not still running Windows are you?
k?
My argument was the “keep waiting” kneejerk advice when people talk about upgrading. A 1700x is fine, 2700x is finer. Neither are as vidjagaym compatible as their jewtel counterparts, but thats besides the point. If i could go back in time i wouldve bought a 1070 at $300 instead of $500 like i did at the height of bitocoin mania like i did because gpu prices have been skewed horrendously against the buyer
>CPU needing drivers
>AMD being better in benchmarks than real life when it's always the opposite
based retard
Nothing about Intel makes it more bideogame-ready than AMD.
Games themselves aren't processor-intensive at all since they're designed for the horrid console processors to begin with and Ryzen shines at parallel processing which means less locking up and stuttering when you're doing shit in the background.
Fuck off retard. Literally none of what you said is true.
>cheaper and better than the 1660ti
>350$ vs 400$+ on a good day
I'm practically an AMD shill, and while i'm not going out to buy a new GPU for 10% more performance for literally hundreds of dollars, 1660ti generally beats 56 in most cases. 6gb definitely won't give it staying power, but Vega looks like shit.
I HOPE to fuck Navi ends up a mid-range monster, because the mainstream market is complete garbage right now, with absolutely NOTHING of note where most consumers buy (300$ or less).
1660 ALMOST looks OK, but considering the numbers 1650 is just going to be 980ti/rx480/580, for the same price. Read, absolutely no price/performance gains.
Worst time for GPUs. At least its nowhere near as bad as CPUs have been for nearly 10 years.
>Yea Forums told me AMD would make Nvidia cut their prices on the RTX series of cards
>Radeon VII is announced
>600$, has no RTX or DSLL but consumes about as much power as the RTX 2080ti
>1660ti comes out
>280$ and can perform as well as the Vega 56 in 1440p for much more less power usage
its literally the other way around, Navi haven't come out and Nvidia already has already set the guidelines for prices
i mean i can see why people call AMD fags the waiting race and housefire buyers
What drivers would actually affect an AMD CPU but not Intel?
The physical cores do. Unlike the mashed together 40k ork tier trash that is AMD.
No one said dont. We were talking about gpu’s, and how “just keep waiting” isnt the same as it used to be when huge valuable leaps were happening like clockwork every 3-4 years. My Ayymd analogy was eluding to how Navi has been a thing people have been talking for fucking years now likes its always gonna happen next week
What should I upgrade to from a 1050ti?
A 1070ti, 1080, a 1660ti or a 2070? Looking to get the best bang for my buck
Just wait until fall. It's like 7 months.
what happens in fall?
Not drivers, but older versions of Windows (pre-10) fundamentally don't support certain features of AMD processors well at a kernel level. That's why Ryzen is a much more conservative (Intel-style) design.
New shit and black friday.
AMD's latest GCN rehash
I dunno why I'd upgrade. Are there even any good demanding games coming out? Maybe DMCV I guess?
Nobody wants your dumpster fire of a video card.
intel made a video card?
thats a ways away.
If I had to get one today what one would be the best value?
you can get a 1070ti for around 350$ and overclock it to get 1080 performance, 1660Ti sounds pretty nice but the 1070ti still beats it in 1440p performance and the 8GB VRAM gives you more future proof than than 6GB
when next gen consoles drops next year you will se a huge spike in system requirements for PC ports, it happened last time with PS4 and Xbone, it will happen again, 6GB of VRAM will not be enough soon for 1440p
if you really dont care about 1440p just get a 1660ti, at 2804 its a pretty damn nice deal
That's not a GPU.
It's an extra CPU that you put in your PCI-e slot.
I always had problems with amd cards, like video acceleration not working properly. Nvidia might be propietary but fuck, it works.
Hmmm thanks.
That's what I was thinking but I just was looking for some conformation its the right choice.
I might wait who knows.
What do you think a gpu is? Dumbass.
prob gtx 1060 6G.
solid price for what you are getting.
I already plan on buying ryzen 3k and an amd GPU. I'm so fucking over nvidia forcing worse performance through driver updates on previous generations. I shouldn't have to use old drivers just to get back noticeably better frame rate.
>CPUs are where the real interesting stuff is at right now
It will be fun next gen next year. Consoles running on 8 core ryzens and not those corelet mobile tier cpu's like current gen. It will probably phase out 4 cores on pc.
are you gonna stay at 1080p then get the 1660ti looks like a solid card
2060 for 1440p or maybe a Vega 56 if on sale
>It will be fun next gen next year. Consoles running on 8 core ryzens and not those corelet mobile tier cpu's like current gen. It will probably phase out 4 cores on pc.
random people on Yea Forums's evaluations of the technology industry is so funny
like what you just said is so laughably stupid and you just have no idea and hit post anyway
1660 and 1650 will be perfect for 1080p gaming but maybe those will make the 10 series drop in price, tho don't hold your breath for AMD Navi, you might as well wait for next year Intel GPU
also don't listen to this RX580 has actual better price/performance ratio
It will be a huge boon if console makers somehow decide to not cheap out on the CPUs this time, the current gen has absolutely fucking horrid CPUs that would feel at home in a 2007 laptop.

Go to 8 v. This place is a shit show. Everyone here is an immigrant at this point from some other internet shithole.
>have a bar I like
>slowly the patrons get replaced by a dumb, young crowd
>bar is no longer the same and don't like it much anymore
>commiserate with someone about this
>they tell me to go to a shifty nigger bar in a back alley
No thanks
Enjoy your shithole. Even Britain wanted out when they realized they were in this situation.
I understand using nvidia over amd for high end GPUs, but come on user, AMD has fantastic CPUs for the price.
that place is full of c-p no way
get a 1080 used user.
>he's never experienced "AMD Problems"
The 1660ti is another 970 all over again. 6gb is not enough for 1440p. So you have a card that is overkill for 1080p, and not not enough for 1440p. Just like the 970, there is no reason to own it.
he said 8 not Yea Forums
>AMD gpus literally use twice the power (thus more prone to failure and throttling) at similar price points
Don't forget OC limitations
>used
This place was too. And it kept the migrants away. When it stopped, you niggers came and shit things up.
Is it really that much of an issue? I have only ever had intel processors but after seeing all the hype around ryzen 3 I was gonna jump ship in my next upgrade cycle.
can someone explain to me why people argue about brand names and not hardware specs of particular models? i see "support amd" or "support nvidia" but why should i give a fuck about either? i'm not an investor i'm looking for the best bang for buck on a card.
just get a used mining card that you can verify wasnt treated like absolute dogshit. good prices
there are no AMD problems CPU-wise
he's a tard thinking memes can be used interchangeably between CPU and GPU even though they are completely separate development branches
1660 is barely better than a 1060.
wait for new chips.
>this place was too
Just on Yea Forums,Yea Forums and the original /g/.
Its not worth being on a high tier watchlist just to discuss video games with other autists on 8c
Good. If you're that much of a pussy then you don't belong.
Getting real fucking sick of Nvidia selling cards that are barely better than cards from half a decade ago.
WE PREMIUM PRICED CONSOLES NOW BOYS.
And that's usually Nvidia even though they are clearly price gouging. That's how shit AMD has become, I miss my 5770.
>AMD cards
>Ever
You'd think after a decade of this song and dance that people would learn.
Nvidia might be shitters most of the time, but they still end up being way more competent than AMD on the GPU compartment.
Lol fuck off no it won't. 6gb is HUGE. No game uses more than 4gb.
used GPUs performs as well as new ones
even my old 2gb card was fine
now I have a 1060/6gb and I never ever use all the VRAM.
i have an rx 480. should i bother or wait until next gen rtx cards?
Imagine if I tied you up and started alternately stabbing holes through your feet with a steak knife. As you cry out in pain, I say to you
>Watching the you get angry at me over stabbing your feet is always funny to me.
Wouldn't that just be hilarious?
>fee fee
>"higher priced"
A 70% MSRP increase for their newest video cards is not just "fee fee", or "higher priced", it's outrageous, you retarded Nvidia shills. They know it, you know it, everybody knows it. There should be a limit to greed. Nvidia shouldn't be able to get away with it, and with how their stock is doing, they hopefully won't. A new generation of cards should not result in the price nearly doubling.
The 20 series is definitely going to be updated next year because of how poorly it's selling.
just get a 2nd hand rx580 while you wait.
Don't bother with buying new right now we really are in the worst deadzone for GPU upgrades in a long time, this really isn't a case of "waitfags" (The best purchase you could have actually made in GPU history was a 1080ti on launch imo.) this just really is a shitty gen of cards.
kek
I think it would make a decent stand-up comedy story.
pascal came out in 2016, i mean the RTX 2050 isn't even real yet (if they even make that one) you'd have to wait until 2022 for the next RTX cards, just get a 1660ti or a 1070tii for 1440p or a RX580 8GB for 1080p, those things are around 200$ right now
>finally have the funding to upgrade to 1440p
>no actual decent cards for decent pricing for a while
G-guess I'll stick with 1080p for a bit longer.
I've been trying to myself, but the card I got in was defective (ASUS Strix 1080 8GB). Trying to get a refund, but if this fucking seller doesn't come through, Im going to be driven through my wall hard enough to break reality.
Look for monitors in the meantime, dummy.
The 1660 Ti would be $200 if AMD wasn't so incompetent. But why should they be competent when you will just buy Nvidia no matter what? You literally only want them to release good GPUs to bring down Nvida GPU prices.
>New cards
>My 1080 still maxes out everything at 1080+ 60+fps
>4k is still a meme and cant be properly used since not even the best card in the market manage 4k 60fps+ at max settings.
Why are they releasing next cards?
I ain't not gonna buy shit if there is no point in upgrading.
The 4k meme has been marketed since 2013 yet is still unreachable in 2019.
>But why should they be competent when you will just buy Nvidia no matter what?
That was the case before this gen, because the difference in price wasn't all that significant, so being able to make sure I got a card with drivers that worked correctly more often was better to me. Starting to get to the point I don't even really care about drivers anymore though, as I rarely play new games. With Nvidia deciding to take a massive dump on all their consumers because of their Bitcoin mining shit, not as much reason to bother with them. Who knows though? I have a GTX1080 anyways. It'll last me several years. No telling what state AMD or Nvidia will be in by 2022-2024.
What about 2160p?
prioritize 144hz over 4k retard
I see nothing wrong with 1080p/144hz at all
>Still play on 60hz
>Looks fine to me because I've never done 120/144hz
I'm sure once I make the switch to 120 I won't be able to go back, of course, but 60 is just fine to me for now.
>I don't want to experience actual improvement so I'll just waste money on the 4k meme instead
??
