You DID kill him, right?
You DID kill him, right?
Yeah, I executed his ass after calling him out on all of his crimes AND kicking his ass with magic.
>killing lord brogain
Nah king was a fucking idiot.
I did in my first playthrough. by my second playthrough alastair had irritated me enough that I made a point of keeping him alive
>not allowing Alistair to fight and kill him
i told alistair to fuck off and i would do it again, i reget not hardening him.
>sacrificing massive chunks of your army for no reason.
>staging a cue during a blight
>fucking all his allies for no reason during a blight
Loghain is clinically retarded.
Let Alistair kill him in a duel, the way questions for the throne are meant to be settled.
The best thing about it is that you can still offer a marriage alliance to Anora and she'll refuse, so you don't even look like the bad guy.
>retreats from Ostagar to "preserve his forces"
>wastes all of them fighting a civil war caused by him seizing the throne
STRATEGIC GENIUS
Of course, only cucks would let this douche go
The king had to die before he sold the kingdom to frogs.
But the thing is, even if you agree with that it isn't the biggest problem. Loghain spends the entire game afterwards making one retarded blunder after another.
beat hits ass in a duel and then let alistair execute
also king'd his ass and fucked off to go fight darkspawn in another place before finally ditching the realm for swamp witch family time
Nope, Loghain is a homie. Alistar is a little bitch and deserves to go into drunken exile.
As an elvish mage, yes.
As a noble human, no. I let Alistair kill him so that I can marry Anora, and later I let Alistair kill the ArchDemon so that there isn't a chance of him trying anything about the throne and Anora can feel a little relieved.
I just started playing for the second time Dragon Age 2 after some years, and it's much worse than I remember.
Spared him on every playthrough except human noble. Had a bone to pick with him and Howe.
2 has fun combat though, especially if you mod it up so that you can take ability's from different trees without having to follow that trees path
This second time I played I instaled that mod (or one similar), because I wanted the Force Mage abilities in my main character, that I always thought was the most fun, but were exclusive to the main character sister.
But still the combat is terrible. It's repetitive, enemies appear OUT OF NOWHERE in the middle of the combat constantly, it lacks a proper strategic camera view like 1 had. The fact that only on the highest difficulty level there is friendly fire is very telling. The combat is stuck in between a strategic RPG and a fast paced action game, and is unable to be good as either.
The only good thing about the combat is that it's more stylish, but even that isn't necessarily a good thing, as it all seems more cartoony and less serious than DA:O.
I feel like the combat is one of the things that they wouldn't have fixed even if they had more time and money, it was a failed attempt to appeal to a diferent audience.
No I sacrificed him in Inquisition instead of my boy Hawke
ehh i liked it
the default AI was actually useful and didn't need you to babysit every action they did and spend hours with tactics mods trying to make them decent
also every single ability felt powerful and was visually fun, the enemy AI was the worst i've ever seen in a game though. like you said they spawn out of nowhere and had obnoxious gimmick abilities like the fucking assassin one shot teleport ability
i still thought it was the best of the series, warrior was extremely fun and the game would have been fantastic if the enemies more reactive but everything the player can do is good
Did you kill his son in Awakening?
I spared him for the DA2 cameo since Awakening (as far as I can remember) made it very clear Nathaniel had nothing to do with Howe's fuckery during the Blight. If I could kill Anders and make him cease to exist in DA2 I would have though.
While I agree with pretty much everything you said, I see it from a very different perspective.
I mean, yes, you don't need to babysit every action your party members do, but it seems more due to the game being easy and made to be more action oriented than that the party AI is good. I think even in the descriptions of the difficulty levels they say something like that, that they only expect you to control the party members in the hard or hardcore.
And yes, I agree that every ability feels powerful and visually fun, as I said, the combat really is more stylish than DA:O. But it also comes with problems, especially later game, when you throw fireballs and whatever else and it's super flashy but barely deals damage to the enemy.
For me the process was the opposite of DA:O. With DA:O, I started hating the combat, but with time I liked it more and more. With DA 2, I started liking it, but the more I played, the more I disliked it.
Still, of course in the end it's a matter of personal preferences, while DA 2 lacks some features that DA: O had, it's reasonable to prefer it due to other changes, like how more stylish it is.
(personally I'm not sure how I feel about how stylish it is, sometimes it feels to over the top to me... but when you consider that the whole game is a tale of Varic, it makes sense).
DA2 nightmare is actually much MUCH harder than DAOs
holy shit i actually had to lower the difficulty at some points
