No bug to fug...
>that boss you thought you mastered
>encounter it in the pantheon
>kicks your ass
>have to go back and practice more
This keeps happening
:(
we have a new one to fug
Source?
This is official art, right?
>can beat NKG, PV, and AR
>but can't beat them consecutively because each one gets me so stressful that I choke on one of the others
I feel only pain
yeah. check the press kit on the silksong site
her name is lace
>her
>beaten the entire base game, now just trying to get all the mask shards and charms before finishing the DLC
>beat every main story boss and the first Grimm fight
>by far the hardest challenge in the game is delivering this stupid fucking flower
I'm losing it boys, I'm gonna snap if I break this stupid thing one more time.
THEEEEEEE THUNDERRR
YOU LOST? HAHAHAH
DOMO DOMO DOMO HAHA
OH BAKA!!
If cloth passes as a girl Lace has to be
take it easy pham
make sure you're on the easiest route too
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a game company, even indie, give a link to one of their folders.
Or is it more common than that?
Cloth was a girl?
I'm about 7 hours into the game. How do I beat the dream version of that fucking maggot faggot in the big armor? His original fight was piss easy but now I get downed in seconds as soon as I start the fight.
use the tram to the forgotten crossroads, and directly get to fog canyon. Nothing there will hunt you, and through that place, you can reach the gardens. Take it one step at a time. Also, use the elegy charm as you have to go hitless anyway
Press kits are completely normal, though the links to them aren't usually given to the general public
Happens pretty often with indies.
>Relative to King Fool
Hope there's an equivalent to the colosseum or anything of the sort
You're probably underpowered for the fight at this point so you're just going to have to learn his patterns if you want to do it now.
Come back later or gitgud.
Dash under him.
>spend time training on each of them
>feel confident to take on PoH
>die to fucking zote
I feel like such a retard
>7 hours
>already dream nailing shit
What the hell did you do?
Genuinely curious about your path so far.
>How do I beat the dream version of that fucking maggot faggot in the big armor?
Forget about healing completely. He's a high tier bossfight where it becomes much more efficient learning to dodge absolutely everything than trying to look for moments to heal.
yup. i dont like that fact either
i thought it was a dude the whole game and finding out i was wrong later weirded me out.
It's a press kit, you can find them on developers websites whenever they announce a game.
Did you guys play with the game muted?
>Just got three straight victories on AR
>Scared to think it might finally happen for me
use grubberfly's elegy and spell twister so you dont have to let enemies get close to you. If youre bad at platforming... then idk guess you're fucked
what a cute boy
soul tyrant is such a tedious fight to radiant
So this is free if you own Hollow Knight?
he's supposed to be an endgame boss. I'd wait until you have all the nail upgrades at least before trying to get him
you dont even have to dash under him. just dash away if you have a shade cloak. the trick is to stay close for attacking and dodge his mace swinging, and then retreat and heal when stuff falls from the ceiling. If he's doing that thing where he sends the white shockwaves, it means youre playing like a pussy and need to get closer
No, it's a sequel. Free for Kickstarter backers though.
dont feel too bad about it user. you canonically arent supposed to be able to beat zote anyways
you can probably technically get the dream nail in the first 30 minutes if you go straight to crystal peak at the beginning and try to go through the dark section without the lamp
>What the hell did you do?
I completely forgot about Greenpath after doing a small sweep of the area to fight Hornet and went to the other places instead. Unlocked Fungusland and beat the mantises leaving the path open to Deepnest (Coming back here later because it looks scary). Then I unlocked the city so I spent a bunch of time in there. Got into the sewers and beat the dung guy. Explored the city more and I ended up in some place where the dreamers knocked me out, sending me to some other graveyard place where the old moth lady gave me the nail. After that I went around looking for shit to dream nail. I've also ignored the crystal mines area so far so I dunno if I was supposed to do that place early as well.
You can't pay the toll to open the gate without the lamp. I usually have enough geo when I get to Queen's Station in the normal course of play and that's around when I did it on my first playthrough. Seven hours is not early to have the dream nail.
>bug that has no gender identifying characteristics whatsoever aside from a somewhat feminine voice actor
>still get annoyed it's a girl
but why
Is there ay chance the game is coming out in 2019?
>can beat Radiant normal Grimm for fun no problem
>can't even survive NKG long enough for the chorus to kick in
The only good part is I totally see how to dodge him thanks to hours of practice with regular Grimm, I sure am dreading Radiant NKG though god damn.
i guess annoyed is the wrong word: i was confused
No confirmed for 2020
I feel your pain. I got around this problem by failing POH on Absolute Radiance's second phase three times in a row. I became desensitized to the experience.
Nearly shat myself on the way up to the final phase though after I finally did do it.
Lies.
Update.
Ok, so I went back and fought lost kin and turns out I was just shit at the game when fought him for the first time, so I put him together with Hollow Knight and the like.

SOON
Is this the best bang for your buck charm? 1 notch for nearly instant charging is insanely useful on almost any boss that you ever have to stop attacking.
Sly fight is so long on radiant, that's honestly the makes the fight difficult.
There's a chance my testicles could be in your mouth this evening
Man, I really hope he is as BS as people say.
Nail arts are not affected by fragile/unbreakable strength, mark of pride/longnail, or quickslash. They seem useful for nail/charm binding pantheon runs but other than that it's nearly as good to get a single normal hit in than a greatslash, especially if you can get 2 or more hits in for the same time
He's not BS, it's a pure skill fight
not a chance incel
Speaking of BS
Higher beings, these words are for you alone.
IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMIN' BUT IT FINALLY CAME

YOUR GODSEEKERS CAN'T BIND ME, WHITE LADY'S CO-SIGNED ME
HEAD PORTED IN THE LAND OF STORMS, YOU KNOW WHERE TO FIND ME
Word to Gruz Mother
The point isn't to spend your time sitting around charging up constantly when you could be hitting the boss, the point is to better take advantage of those few fractions of a second where you can't actually get up in a boss's business to hit him for whatever reason (NKG teleported away, Absolute Radiance about to teleport, Sly going ham, Watcher Knight started a bounce/roll attack, etc)
Is there a way to avoid his laser spam reliably without dashing into another laser? Or is it just more bullshit I have to hope doesn't happen?
Sly is annoying, if you want a cheese strat just for the radiant check this out
I'm stuck on the fifth pantheon what the fuck do I do? I keep choking at Nightmare King Grimm, and Markoth on those small platforms is insane. I'm not mad at the difficulty, but fuck having to spend 40 minutes just getting back to where I fucked up so I can die again in 10 seconds. Any good charms I should use?
Got ya, bitch.
If you did it legit then you're a god man. I can't even do it a second time.
I got you
Equip quickslash, sharp shadow, and fragile whatever's the one that makes you stronger. Fights over in a minute
>nail arts are not affected by quickslash
>ahhh, relaxing in the spa is always my favo---
Holy shit that's hilarious, feels bad for him. Thanks user, glad to konw I can't rely on something if my skills fail me.
how do do it non legit? asking for a friend
>using nail extensions
It's time to ditch the training wheels user
It's kinda obvious, just pointing out the poor synergy between nail arts and the most common DPS charms. I don't think they're worth fucking with at all, I almost always fuck up when I start charging nail arts
no
>charm that increases nail damage doesn't increase nail art damage
>binding that decreases nail damage decreases nail art damage
This is bullshit
so is quickslash actually good? I can't tell if it's a meme or not, because 3 charm slots is a lot, and most of the time on bosses I only go in for one hit and then dash back out to safety
Should I feel bad for using quick focus?
How much progress have you made in hall of gods? It helps a lot to go practice them all. You haven't really mastered a boss until you can radiant him. This is the best advice anyone can give
It's gonna take a lot of time either way, it's nice to change things up though
Why would you feel bad about that?
>increases dps
>increases soul per second
absolutely worth it
There's very few fights where quickslash isn't good. It's the most OP charm easily, since if you can get 2 hits instead of 1 you've doubled your damage, not even fragile does that
It feels broken. I had to use it as a crutch to beat Radiance.
It often nets you an extra hit or two, which means more damage and more soul recovery, which means more heals or Abyss Shrieks. That's a lot of value for three slots.
After I used quickslash for the first time I never stopped. It's just too good and satisfying to use.
Iirc you can't fight Absolute Radiance in the hall of gods until you beat him in the pantheon.
no, you just have to get to him
I know this from experience ;_;
You just need to see her to unlock her
Now what
You wait for Silksong
I'm also talking about practicing all the bosses that lead up to him.
It's just another tool. I guess you could say it's sub-optimal for some fights because it doesnt increase dps but on a lot of fights you don't have enough time to heal without eating shit and this is one of the few games where despite it being heavily skill based, it's unrealistic to assume a regular player can just not get hit 100% of the time
I can do that
>mfw Cloth die
She died a glorious death
That's all she really wanted
you ask your big brother for help
I used shape of unn for her fight to heal during the light beams and spears
>game is full of dead-end NPCs that have literally zero function besides flavour despite having a whole detailed nook on the map dedicated to them
>even ones that seem important like the mask maker with his insinuating text and direct relation to a game mechanic (masks)
>game teaches you that these are the kickstarter NPCs that are just put in for fun
>except Mr. Mushroom, whose stupid name SURELY must put him in the category of kickstarter NPCs
>who talks complete nonsense just like the fluke hermit (who also does nothing)
>but if you, for some reason, defying logic, decide that there must be more to him, then you might get lucky in determining that you need the spore charm to translate him, despite this mechanic never being hinted at or used anywhere else in the game
>and then if you find him six more times by pure coincidence
>you unlock another ending
you have to unlearn something the game conditioned you into learning
and then make pure chance guesses to learn two more things
to fulfill his intended function
literally worse than every dark souls quest combined
Anyone who says they figured him out completely on their own is lying.
>the club in Pantheon of Hallownest
I want to go spend all the money I have on ice cream and eat it until I die, that doesn't mean it's a good idea
you can kill all the enemies on the path you want to take before getting the flower and they wont respawn as long as you don't sit on a bench
The worst part isn't even the enemies, it's the fucking spikes at the end, it's not even that hard really but it's very easy to choke on it. I didn't get hit by the enemies once in any of my attempts but I did dash right into the spikes at the very end twice
rude
>tfw Marissa is actually the self insert of the vocalist for the City of Tears theme
I also dream nailed the butterfly lady.
>despite this mechanic never being hinted at or used anywhere else in the game
Lore tablets in the Fungal Wastes and the one hidden in Kingdom's Edge--the one that hints at his locations--are only readable if you have the Spore Shroom equipped.
I tried equipping the Spore Shroom the first time I met him, then stumbled on his second location later while mopping up the Hunter's Journal. Finding him twice, I figured he'd pop up elsewhere. I did Google the rest of his locations after manually combing the map for his next three locations.
Figuring him out isn't the hard part; the tedium of finding him is.
Stop using dash to dodge things. Everything in this game can be avoided by stepping slightly to the side or pogoing (unless you're stuck in the air). You should only dash when you fuck up and need to burn shade cloak as a get out of jail free card, to get through projectiles for free hits, or to assist in platforming against things like Markoth or No Eyes. When you start doing radiant hall of gods, the game is going to force you to learn to step aside rather than using dash to evade things because you aren't gonna wanna burn shade cloak for simple evasion. Just walking away from things is also just generally way more precise and less likely to have you move into another attack.
I didn’t because I had already dream nailed the mantises in Queens gardens and knew what would happen
that's ok user you put her soul to rest. no point letting her linger in a dead kingdom for eternity
dream nailing her was the last thing I did before confronting Radiance. I wanted to give her as much time to sing as possible before ending my journey
where is PV, NKG, and AR?
w-what happens?
youtube.com
I love her, bros
I see. I suppose the developers assumed there would be a much higher chance of accidentally picking up the trail by having the spore charm equipped.
Neither myself or my friend I was playing with have ever figured out what those empty bowls, or Mr. Mushroom do because neither of us ever used the spore charm for very long because it's underwhelming.
Is it feasible to dream nail bosses for soul during pantheons, with the charm?
I'm thinking of trying the God stuff soon with a spell build and the massive soul gain from Soul Catcher is too tempting to ignore.
Depends on the boss. I wouldn't call it reliable in the long run.
Off the top of my head I can remember you can Dream Nail Oro right as Mato arrives, and the False Knight's armour can be nailed like 3/4 times while hes dying so that should help for the next fight. So if a boss can be nailed normally then it should apply.
That sounds like a negative for something like Grimm then.
at me mum's
It's pretty easy to dream nail for SOUL against Uumuu, Mato/Sheo, and the watcher knights. You don't need the charm for it though and I don't think it's worth the slot. None of those are hard fights to radiant anyway, since the gargantuan Uumuu nerf.
Haven't fought them yet.
Actually, for regular Grimm you can actually dream nail him twice while hes bowing. You can also get a free hit right as hes about to teleport without him getting mad if you time it perfectly.
It's shit against the bosses that teleport around and stay in the air a lot.
fuck absolute radiance
Poetic as fuck.
ungh vore me.
No, the spike one is better.

RADIANT SOUL TYRANT IS SO TEDIOUS JESUS FUCK
I sure hope you're talking about radiant because he's a pushover for everything else
>fighting this guy on my overcharmed playthrough
fuck this rng ridden piece of shit and his stupid movement pattern and his dumb random spinning shield. I died on other stuff way more but none of it made me mad because i could actually get better, fighting this guy with no nail upgrades and 3 masks only exposed how poorly conceived the fight is
>hop with every grub
Radiant Markoth took me more tries than Radiant AR did, and was less fun to boot.
Fuck Markoth.
I haven't even unlocked AR yet and I got radiant Markoth down. He's not even on my top 5 most annoying
That's well and good but radiant isn't required for anything important, it's an additional challenge you can do for fun, if you don't like it then stop. There's several bosses that are way more challenging to radiant than they normally are, and Markoth is simply among them.
What charms?
Yeah but Markoth jumps from annoying/easy to arguably the hardest boss in the game.
I think it just requires more quick thinking than simple pattern repetition. You could probably train a monkey to fight PV/NKG
speedrun it, if youre into that at all.
And that makes him one of the hardest yes. Which is kinda weird as he is only a dream boss, wonder why TC decided to pick him in particular.
>Hit NKG when he's doing that flame pillar attack from below
>somehow get hit by nothing
This shit consistently happens against him. Is his hitbox just fucked? Should I use mark of pride?
>Not using Mark of Pride already
I don't think I could ever go without it.
The flames from the previous pillars linger on the ground.
I played this game for four hours and I wish I could get them back. This game is one of, if not the most boring metroidvania games I have ever played in my life.
I'm still so fucking happy about this announcement.
Hornet's movement style will doubtlessly provide Team Cherry lots of opportunities to create new and interesting bosses or setpieces
I know, I wait until he fires out the last pillar and go under him. I'm somehow taking contact damage.
>Getting hit by the last spike on the last room before the Lady
> getting too nervous and it happening again
I think all the dream bosses get a revamped arena in ascended+.
Went back to my save which was at 67% or something like that to try to get TE and 100%. I keep wasting so much time just wandering the fuck around hoping to find something to do. Every so often I encounter something that keeps me busy for awhile but then it's another bit of just going places and hoping to find something I missed. Is there something like an NPC in the game that will point me towards things I've missed or something? I really don't want to use a guide.
Judging by what I see, it looks like Mark of Pride/Quick Slash/Grubberfly's Elegy and probably Unbreakable Strength
I've been on her for 4 days now, each time I think I get somewhere I fuck up somewhere else, it's getting ridiculous
Hey, is Zote a vessel? He looks really similar to the Knight with the little cloak hes wearing. He could be an imperfect Vessel since he's riddled with emotion.
He has a mouth, Vessels don't have mouths not even Hornet.
Steady body too
Elegy is underutilized for radiant runs
youtube.com
>not even Hornet
I'll find a hole to stick my cock in
Your only option is to look at the map and find gaps in lines indicating areas you've not explored yet. This works just fine.
Tell me about the bugs, why do they wear the masks?
She's got some other holes though.
Like the Mask maker said they're probably super ugly.
>Not splashing her face constantly and then throwing her down the stairs
I've been doing this, but I seem to have run out of unexplored areas and am still only at around 80% completion.
I kind of got the feeling that the mask maker was getting into a complicated discussion about the nature of void and how it has the properties of both absorbing something and being absorbed by something. Overwriting, and being overwritten. You know, like how Hollow Knight developed emotions and how all the vessels were corrupted with void before birth anyhow.
Post your map and I'll see if there's anything I can suggest
I mean, that's how they get you.
if hornet took them off would they die?
What's the most underrated charm and why is it Dream Wielder?
Isn't Bretta not wearing a mask?
Bretta's not ugly enough to warrant wearing a mask.
More like Midwaifu.
thorns of agony
milf
So I'm not really understanding quite clearly, was the Radiance evil? Or was she just lonely and wanted some friends? Or did she want to hivemind everything? Why?
Is it true that the more you give her the more you get back once you catch her at the hotsprings?
>If Zote is saved and defeated in the Colosseum of Fools, Zote will show up in Dirtmouth and Bretta will fall in love with him, after which her home will no longer have dolls and drawings of the Knight but will have one single painting of Zote instead.
Fuck, I saved Zote before saving her. I never got to experience her having a crush on Ghost.
More like top 5 most overrated crutch charms.
>getting hit
Best thing is when you sit beside her on the bench and she starts blushing
She was a vindictive goddess. Certainly the Pale King was at fault for taking over her dominion in the first place but she's also a massive bitch who killed off every bug just because she was mad.
Dude you missed out. She would watch you off screen and shout "Oh!" in a really cute voice and look away when she noticed you were coming
Yeah.
Pale King took her subjects and even her own kind away, dabbed on her and locked her out of peoples memories making all the bugs forget Radiance. Couple hundreds years of being forgotten and Hollownest thriving made her super pissed off and wanted to fuck up Pale Kings shit. The one statue of Radiance up on Crystal Peak was enough memory for her to come out and set off the infection plague.
Man...
Guess I'll have to start over.
I noticed a segment I missed so I'll go do that (though I can't imagine that will somehow lead me on to 100% from 80%), is there a way to take a full-map screenshot without having to stitch a bunch of shots together?
Radiance was technically in the right. She created Hollownest in its basic, feral bug infested state. But, exerting her influence comes with reducing bugs to nothing but instinct. She doesn't want friends, she wants mindless subjects to worship her while she exists in the dream. It's all a matter of perspective. If the bugs weren't sapient and she pulled them under a greater hivemind, then whatever. But, it's Pale King's act of giving them sapience that makes her taking it away that much worse. We'll never know if she was the greater good- She's the sole opponent of void, apparently. But, it doesn't matter because she was willfully corrupting living, thinking bugs just to get her way.
Radiance was a fucking bitch if the Hollownests plague was the result of her hissy fit. Can't be that pleasant having those grotesque tumor growths sprouting all over your body.
You'd be surprised. There are some rather dense segments kinda tucked out of the way, like Queen's gardens, the abyss, and the hive. You also likely have new content in areas you've already been thanks to the dream nail (although I think they patched in markers for warrior graves so if that is the case you're probably not missing those). Have you fought the boss in the tower of love yet? You'll get a map from there which will lead you to a specific type of content. Colloseum?
As for taking a screenshot of the entire map, I'm not sure about that.
>We'll never know if she was the greater good- She's the sole opponent of void, apparently
That's running under the assumption that the void is bad. Remember the void was literally worshiped way before any of the bullshit in Hallownest happened.
I'd rather take the primordial blackness of the void than yet another petty squabble between gods.
I remember the Seer talking about how she admits her race did a bad thing forgetting her or something, yet she sends the Knight out to destroy her to atone for their sins, along those lines.
Void doesn't seem that grest eithet considering it kills bugs itself from over exposure causing black shit to leak out of them.
That's just how it goes. Either deal with the darkness or get distracted by different sources of light.
Tfw Finally beat Soul Master. I had trouble beating this fuck it only gets crazy and harder from here right bug friends? Also wall climbing is so satisfying and I got better at combat
Is there like no middleground? Both seem to kill you either way.
Yeah he's one of the easier bosses, but he is one of the early game bosses that feel satisfying to beat
>That second phase
It was kino as fuck
I got super scared and almost dropped my drink i was holding
No because that's what bugs are. No different from mortal men.
And from the looks of it, Silksong is adding yet another source of insanity to the mix with the introduction of "sound" as a way for a higher being to control bugs.
So if the Bug that holds the Shade Cloak mentions the Lord of Shades after dream nailing it with the Void heart, does that mean the whole Pale King vs Radiance and then making the King Soul, creating Vessels and shit, having one of them convert it into the Void Heart and unite the Void and rule over it, was all prophesied/planned?
The Pale King apparently had precognition. So maybe?
Any non-optional boss is fairly easy compared to the rest of them. The first time I had real trouble fighting a boss was against lost kin (an optional boss).
She's a dumb hoe.
And now Zote fucking ruins Dirtmouth's atmosphere by NEVER SHUTTING UP.
Fuck, how I hate Zote. Even though I'm a completionist, If I ever do another playthru, I'll let that sucker die miserably in Greenpath.
>finally unlocked pantheon of hallownest
>get raped by winged nosk and left at 1 HP, finished off by sly
>second try
>zote after markoth
I can't imagine doing this with bindings.
Tonal based control of reality is the shit. I love crap how like Eldar in 40k shape their constructs by singing at them, or how in TES reality can be reshaped by tonal architecture. Fucking Power Word: Kill in DnD? All about that shit.
Having finished hall of gods, I'm confident I could do it with bindings. But it would take so fucking long with nail and soul bindings and it would just be such a terrible slog. I couldn't even be bothered doing any bindings on the first Pantheon let alone the fifth.
Seriously, I tried the first Pantheon full bindings and right at the start Vengefly Kings and Gruz Mother take so fucking long to beat it's ridiculous.
The runs I've seen of people going full bindings in Pantheon 5 aren't human.
I never considered that, even though I bow to bosses when they do.
I've still got a few grubs to go in my Steel Soul run at least.
Soul Master isn't that hard but he's a prime example of a 10/10 2d action platformer fight:
>simple gimmick of floating orbs from previous soul enemies expanded into a boss that uses a multitude of them as a shield
>combines them with a shockwave attack that you've already faced before, slowly easing you into the challenge
>introduces feints, but only for a single move as a way to teach you how to spot and avoid them
>finally, subverts your expectations by refusing to die after the usual death animation, which ties in thematically to his character as someone that hoarded soul to try to live forever
Along with how atmospheric and elegant his "stage" is set up, all the little things add up to a pretty memorable boss fight. Though not every boss is as interesting, HK is full of little moments like these that make it stand above other typical 2d action platformer games.
Honestly, if you completed it normally at least once, unless you're doing it for the flex, and you simply want the weathered mask/ to see the LoS just cheat bro. Nobody would blame you.
>dreamnail Godseeker to get into Godhome
>get transported into this weird place, see her stuck in some rock or something, and then get booted out
Okay what the fuck. Am I going crazy? Did this happen to anyone else? I literally dreamnailed her but instead of Godhome I got sent this place that I can't even begin to describe. I guess it looks like the Howling Cliffs except darker and even more desolate?
did you screencap it?
Land of Storms?
There's a small chance of this happening.
This is one of the many rare bullshit secrets in the game that the devs hid.
youtube.com
I don't know the odds but it's really fucking low. Most players will never see this. Much like Menderbug.
What the fuck, how haven't I heard of this
Yeah none of the "Gods" of Hollow Knight seemed particularly great. Everyone else was just caught in the middle of their power struggle.
The White Lady seemed pretty chill though.
Yeah, it's a known thing. It's purely random and at the bottom of the cavern there is like a big godtuner (?) or something.
Holy shit that's amazing. I just love it when games have these real fucking obscure easter eggs that only 5% of the playerbase will find. What other shit does HK have?
What the fuck is that? I love this game.
>tfw this happened to me my second time entering
If you've beaten PoH you can talk to the HK in the temple of the black egg.
what the fuck is with this place anyways
There's a chance to see Quirrel near the statue in the desert after your encounter at the lake.
A small area you can only get to by doing all bindings on the final pantheon.
Well one guy above mentioned the menderbug, that's a pretty obscure one. He goes around fixing the signs you break and he's pretty hard to spot. You can kill him for a journal entry by spamming desolate dive from Dirtmouth into the Forgotten Crossroads. Only monsters do this.
There's this one rare dialogue for the ghost guarding the moth graveyard warning you about the void.
>menderbug
>if you kill Herrah after getting the King's brand you wake up with Hornet mourning her mother
If you beat PoP before getting to PK in the White Palace his dream nail dialogue changes.
You can find the King's workshop in the White Palace for a bit of lore. Lots of people don't know about this one.
Also you can read his journal in the house beside the one where you found Sly if you kill him.

I don't about anybody else but these are what surprised me personally when anons talked about them:
Menderbug
Hornet showing up after you kill Herrah
The secret room above the Collector's area
The secret room in Grimm's tent
The lifeblood cocoon next to the Mantis Lords
Eternal Ordeal
White Defender
The SUPER SECRET backer area
Everything related to Mr. Mushroom
All of the secrets in the White Palace
There's probably more that I've already forgotten but god damn the game has a lot of swanky secrets.
Sounds like you can't handle the booptis
>The lifeblood cocoon next to the Mantis Lords
WHAT THE FUCK
Add the Weaver's Den, which is already is kinda secret, having like three perfectly invisible secret rooms and you have a pretty exhaustive list.
Oh yeah the Hornet tease in the Weaver's Den is fucking dumb as fuck as well. God I love it.
I can't wait to find out with Yea Forums all the secrets Silksong will have.
Someone should do a guide on how to get everysingle thing in the game in one playtrough.
>reblog
>I can't wait to find out with Yea Forums all the secrets Silksong will have.
This. It hypes me up as much as the game itself.
He's making fun of the tumblr fanbase. The babies bit gives it away.
You need two playthroughs no matter what because you need to banish the troupe and leave Zote to die for achievements, which you'd be foolish to do on your main profile. You can always save edit though if you really want to.
That said, I don't think there's any point to such a guide because you're never locked out of 112% completion at any point.
They're going to be even worse because of Hornet's moveset. You're going to have to do some real obscure shit like placing this particular caltrop here to bounce on while guiding these particular enemies here to hookshot into and then doing a backflip into this spot to unlock "lore secret that does absolutely nothing" #21.
Just chose the most appropriate : save Zote: do the ritual/save nailsimth.
I mean yeah sure, but I think it would be nice for someone who completed the game and don't want to rummage through wikis, forums and shit to find what he missed.
She always reminded me of Maneater Mildred so the fact that she was a girl didn't surprise me.
Was the Collector a void experiment gone wrong?
She's also based on Maneater Mildred from Dark Souls
Might have been an experiment that went right.
Arguably, unless collecting the grubs prevented them from metamorphing into another Radiance.
I'm actually worried Hornet will be super differenty and unfun to control like plague knight
She might be super fun to control like Spectre Knight.
That's exactly what I was thinking
>when you finally realize the music in City of Tears, Soul Sanctum, AND the Dreamers all shares the same melody
Fuckin' game coming after my ribcage with the feels mallet
Is there any software that will allow me to turn a button on my controller in a second attack button, or just assign attack to two buttons at the same time in HK? I want to use nail arts for the binding runs but using the same finger for holding down attack and jumping is insanely uncomfortable.
Could be, but we just don't know like king knight
Am I autistic for only doing radiant fights with no charms? I feel like the radiant bosses are there just to practice for pantheons with all bindings. Doing radiant oro&mato this way was really rewarding. How can you say you've mastered a boss if you need a crutch?
>post yfw a climactic moment in Silksong is going to use Hornet's original boss track
>post yfw you hear youtube.com
>The secret room above the Collector's area
>The lifeblood cocoon next to the Mantis Lords
>The SUPER SECRET backer area
explain
I think it will depend on how difficult the combat dodging and platforming will be to offset the more dexterous move-set.
Otherwise I'm quite excited for a more versatile change of pace and the idea of being able to get around a bit more quickly from the get-go.
Holy shit my heart was probably going as fast as the one in game. If you're having trouble with this one serously just keep at it, it'll click for you soon enough.
This is my new favorite gif!
I gave up some months back. Felt like a hit a solid wall.
I'll get back to it. Someday....
>"Its endless power shall attune Us to the one greater still, a God of Gods!"
>eventually summoned
>"wait hold on a second"
So what was the next step of the Godseeker's master plan?
Quirrel's got one and he's cute.
The scariest thing about Hornet is the fact that you can only heal if you have a full silk meter and the heal is instant.
The bosses are going to be relentless.
Quirrels probably mega ugly underneath that mask though.
You could probably practice with normal Grimm if you feel you don't learn anything with the Nightmare King.
My trepidation grows...
>bosses never stagger
>bosses are hyper aggressive
>the window for healing is going to be even smaller because of your instantaneous heal
>there will be fights where you can only heal mid-air
>shitters who haven't done PoH post here
>shitters who haven't even done NKG post here
what the fuck
>shitters who haven't even beaten THK post here
Will Silksong add a Boss health bar? That was honestly the shittiest thing about Hollow Knight is not knowing how much more you have to do before you kill a boss.
From the looks of the trailer? No.
Well the release date is June 2020 so there is still time. If you can only heal when silk meter is full length you should at the very least see the Boss health. Make it a charm or something don't make it complete guess.
Why's it matter at all? A boss health meter would give you no useful information for gameplay purposes, other than telling you when you can maybe make a really dumb suicide attack in the very final second.
Just install mod you autist.
Boss health bars make people play worse, no thanks
wait what the fuck is this character
i saw it come out of a wall and accidentally attacked it and it wont come back
also when i got the spider pet charm there was a thing what walked to the left of the screen and now i dont know what it was and where it went
fuck this spider place
embrace the void faggot
I hope in Silksong we'll see the most mysterious character that disappeared suddenly, Tiso's shield.
Tiso's Shield is around his dead body though.
I think it would have been nice to concretely see just how much damage certain magic, charm, and charge attacks did when compared to each other.
But I can see how not knowing how much health a boss has left can be taken as part of the challenge.
Not him but his shield suddenly disappeared for me too.
To be fair it's pretty easy to get locked out of that achievement and get the sealed siblings ending instead
I don't even want to try the last pantheon again. Love the game as a whole, but it is possible for a challenge to simply not be worth my time.
I want to FIGHT Iselda.
I fucking love these full screen boss names. Seeing this one when you played the game before the dlc came out was fucking amazing.
There is a mod for that you know? And it's actually very well done.
I want to fuck Iselda in her plump, ovular butt.
This one confused me and killed my sides at the same time since I didn't know what I was in for.
>when the best theme in the game gets even better
Based Zote.
>the trailer got 1 000 000+ views
How the actual fuck? Was HK really that popular?
>hornet uses thread because her mom was a spider
this took me two years to realize, my brain is real bad
That music practically redeemed that idiot in my eyes
It sold like 2.8M copies total.
She's happily married
...yeah, and because her weapon is a literal needle.
Yes. Just because only a very small amount of people actually beat it doesn't mean it wasn't beloved by a lot of them.
I completely missed the scene of her mourning her mum on my first playthrough.
What are they saying?
Do you have the other two?
I was happy that Cornifer made it back home alright in the end. I was like 98% sure that we would be buying the last map off his corpse.
Not yet, I haven't even reached them but I got this pretty cool thing. The other ones were Radiance and another one I forget right?
post sads
remember user, enemies don't respawn when you don't sit on a bench
so heal up first, use the dream nail to open a gateway near the bench so you can teleport back, carve out a path, go back, now go through the pathway you came through
this is the easiest path btw
Cornifer, sweetie, what are you doing?
Making a map.
But it looks like... a map of my eyes?
That's exactly it, Iselda. Because I always find myself getting lost in them.
120 Geo.
actually i just got this from google so upon re-inspection, go through the blue lake path
Oh, thank you.
Radiance and Absolute Radiance
They're have seperate title cards? I haven't even reached the 5th pantheon let alone Radiance. I'll be sure to get both of em on top of my NKG and Ordeal ones then.
>moth seer wants me to get 2400 essence
I cant find anymore ghosts and I've already fought the failed champion, lost kin, and soul tyrant. I don't know any other boss that I could possible rematch.
And furthermore, where the fuck is the key that unlocks the door in the tower of love
Anyone knows an fun OP build to replay this?
Zote and White Defender, you can rematch them up to five times.
Have you done the spooky trees that shit essence all over the map?
I hope the knight makes an appearance somehow. It'd be poetic.
youtube.com
check this out
What about Gorb, Xero etc? There're a shitton of dream bosses.
Dream Bosses
>Failed Champ.
>Soul Tyrant
>Lost Kin
>White Defender
>Grey Prince Zote
Dream Warriors
>7 of them
All the dream trees
I finally played this after letting it sit out in my backlog for like 2 years. The path of pain and white palace weren't nearly as bad as I heard some people say it'd be but the bosses in this game just fuck my shit up. I have no idea how the hell I'm gonna manage to do some of this dlc shit. Also pic related for my current understanding of the story. I'm still sad about Myla. I was genuinely upset when she changed.
I honestly recommend mods.
Forgot my pic
>The path of pain and white palace weren't nearly as bad as I heard some people say
For many people it was their first real platform challenge in a game, so some meat boy last level shit as an introcduction was fucking brutal.
>The path of pain and white palace weren't nearly as bad as I heard some people
You have to understand that a good chunk of people who bought the game bought it because the art style made them believe it was another "MUH EXPERIENCE" artsy walking sims.
The non-optional bosses are a bunch of pushovers up until the very end.
It's pretty embarrassing, I wonder how many people ended up getting that eternal ordeal easter egg you get after killing the 1000th zote.
Literally nobody though HK was a walking sim.
It's just that it's not a proper platformer like, say, SMB, but a metroidvania. And those games aren't particularly hard, neither in platforming challenges nor in combat aspects. So most people who played a metroidvania and suddenly found themselves in the buzzsaw palace weren't prepared for a platforming challenge after hours of simple jumping and whacking crawlers with their nail.
I got it, but I did it blindfolded so only the audio portion of it. Next time I'm gonna bind my eardrums so I can get the visual side of it.
myla genuinely put me in a bad mood
it's been a long-ass time since any media has done that
Not gonna lie, I actually believed that Zote had a thousand dream fights for a moment there.
That's IT I'm tired of you faggots making me nostalgic for a game for which I've got no content left to beat. I'm gonna do the PoH for FUN while DRUNK and all you people who can't even do it normally are gonna be so mad.
>who haven't even done NKG post here
Hey, man! I just returned to the game which I haven't played since before the DLCs. After I did a Steel Soul run of the OG game. I still have a 2-notch Quick Slash on that save file.
I don't want to do NKG before I got the last unbreakable charm, and farming Geo is more exhausting for me than any boss challenge could ever be.
So I'm taking it slow and doing it while finishing up the Hunter's Journal entries. Also,
>do the colosseum
>still have unfinished entries for colosseum enemies
>do the fool and conqueror again
>still have unfinished entries for colosseum enemies
Who though this was a good idea?
Google Midwife.
>where the fuck is the key that unlocks the door in the tower of love
Southeast part of queen's garden, on a dead bug.
Let's not kid ourselves, Hollow Knight is Pathetic tier. And Lost Kin is also Pathetic tier if you equip Defender's Crest.
Shape of Unn > Quick Focus
The lore tablet in Kingdom's Edge is fucking useless. I'm fine with riddles if they're reasonable, but some of the lines on the tablet just had no relation at all to his location.
you are terrible at making lists
Anyone got a download link to Gods & Nightmares ost?
post cute hornet pictures, I need some
>wanted to write a short summary for that user who didn't get the story
>ended up writing all this shit: pastebin.com
I am too bored.
>read the entire thing fully prepared to see retarded shit and speculation
>it's all surprisingly sound
>...
>and Dream No More ending does not actually seem to really kill the Radiance
Explain yourself.
He's not wrong. Dream No More has the Radiance get swallowed up by the void, whether that means she's dead or not is a whole 'nother matter.
Embrace the Void is where we're explicitly shown the Radiance getting killed.
Aaaand there he goes.
Yeah, that was my reasoning
wtf is wrong with you
I must've missed a bunch of lore snippets cause I have no idea how I was supposed to piece all that together from what I did read and find. Thanks user.
He killed a faggot.
Anybody can recommend similar games to Hollow Knight to ease the pain from waiting for Silksong?
Valdis Story
It's mostly Bardoon, Hornet and the Seer. And there is actually quite a number of lore tablets.
ESA is your best bet. Fantastic fucking game.
I've never realized until a couple days ago that you can keep Cloth from dying and she goes off exploring.
Made me smile.
Unironically just play Dark Souls.
>DS4 fucking up
>Have to use my fight stick to finish hollow knight
This is genius.
Time to get to work. Thanks user.
But user, she wanted to die in battle. Now she's just going to venture beyond Howling Cliffs and lose her mind.
Why does everyone just copy this route?
I personally prefer to go deeper down the mushroom area and through the moss prophet rooms shortcut. Did it first try.
PoH all bindings with dancing carpet thing when user?
Thanks I'll check them out.
I meant similar metroidvania games. DS is too slow for my taste.
Worked out for Quirrel.
If you mean gameplay wise, DS3 is really quick and BB even more.
i can't react fast enough to PV 3 sword hits. is it because im old (29)
Come on, user, I'm 30 and I haven't done Godhome yet, but it can't be that hard, can it?
Has anyone made a Radiant gamemode mod with +Steel Soul as an option with dream protection removed? I'd play that shit. I'd 112% that shit.
Glass Soul?
Soul Sanctum is probably one of my favorite Metroidvania ZONES of all time.
Maybe it's because I cleared it relatively early in my run, but it was my first clear look at some of the bonkers metaphysical shit that went down as Hallownest rose and fell, outside of little flashes like the Greenpath Dreamer tease.
It was also the first zone that made me fully tear up thanks to that god damn music huaaaa
Yeah but I want a Steel Soul+dream protection removal too
release date when
He's one of the hardest fights in the game, come back later after you git gud.
>one of the hardest fights
He only has two attacks. Jump above the shockwaves, dash under the mace swings.
Literally the only way to get hit in this fight is by random debris falling down, because they're RNG.
Know the difference. One is fucking soulless.
When you kill yourself you useless piece of shit. Now fuck off to WoW and pretend you are not a mentally ill tranny.
Even the debris can be bounced back.
They can, but they might be on collision course with you at the same time as the boss attacks you.
yeah she doesn't have any soul alright
every dev does this, you just have to go looking for it.
*ahem* fuck trial of the fool, and fuck fighting above a spike pit with no platforms.
All me BTW
>insist on using nailmaster's glory because it's the only thing that makes nail arts usable in combat
>bosses teleport out of cyclone slashes 1-2 ticks in, or smash your face, instantly stopping it
>decide to try out nailarts
>can barely reach the jump button while holding attack and can't reach dash at all
My fault for expecting the default control scheme not to be retarded, I suppose.
Z - Dream Nail
X - Dash
C - Attack
V - Focus/Spell
Space - Jump
>play a new metroidvania
>won't stop thinking in hollow knight
That's nice but I fell for the game controller meme. Attack is X, jump is A and dash is Y.
I have played quite a lot of hollow knight in the last couple days after ignoring it for years, the announcement of Silksong finally reminded me to do it I got a bad ending of sorts I think. I am in the middle of my second playthrough now since I want to explore the world better and I think this is the first 'vania I've played in a very, very long time, that actually allows me to enter restricted areas even without powers. I reached the hive without the double jump (I had somehow missed it and to be honest wasn't even sure there was one in the game) but I still managed to enter and complete it by exploiting the dude spawning the bees and jumping on them.
It might sound silly, but one of my favorite games is exactly Metroid 0 because you can do all sorts of as-intended tricks to break sequence, even though I feel that Hollow Knight besides what I feel is a kinda recommended route (hornet for dodge -> mantis village for walljump -> city for the break floor spell) is quite open, I feel I can go a bit everywhere I want after that.
There are many things I ended up disliking in HK, but I must put it quite high in my rankings. Can't wait to tackle all the stuff I missed.
you can get a press kit for almost anything by just looking or asking if you can't find it
All videogame dashes should be a bumper.
>ESA
What game is ESA?
>tfw can't help speculating about the story of Silksong despite having barely any info
>tfw end up cementing a headcanon a year before the game is even out
This sucks.
WHY IS THERE NO REPEATABLE PLATFORMING CONTENT
Is there a Godhome thing but for PoP-lite obstacle courses?
Dash is a bumper on Switch, but holding attack while jumping isn't an issue either and those are mapped the same, just hold down X with the tip of your thumb and hit a with the ball of your thumb by straightening it out.
>No randomly generated platforming colosseum with challenge modes, time attack rewards and so on
What characters do you think will return? I bet on Zote cause he is a traveler
hornet
I just beat hornet knight.
Should I go to that weird jelly fish place?
I was planning on exploring that, but the way to the map guy is blocked by some weird dark wall and I hate exploring without map.
Cornifer and Iselda cameo for sure.
That area is a worthless sack of shit even when you can actually go there with the ability that lets you pass throught it, you can go explore elsewhere
That place is tiny, just go down.
Bretta because she fucked off to find herself in a new kingdom.
The scarlet flame assclowns, although probably with an all-new cast.
Godseeker to please autists.
Hornet.
You aren't allowed on these threads until you've gotten at least 100%.
Imagine it. Successful nailjumping is just as rewarding as beating a boss. Even total shitters love HK's movement feel and all the tools at your disposal. I bet everyone's top 3 fondest memories of this game include finally getting to cross that long spikey vale in Greenpath
Will we ever see our little ghost again?
Will Hornet feel anything once we meet him as a boss and kill him?
Iselda and Cornifer. She talks about how he often goes off exploring/map making frantically after they move to a new place.
Besides leaving the old bug guy behind with possibly Zote, I'd like to see them roam into the new kingdom. Actually lay down proper roots, of course once Cornifer completes his map making.
Or hell, imagine if they implemented a rudimentary save transfer from the 1st game and any surviving friendly characters, who have decent reason to travel, could appear in Silksong. Running into Bretta who's still looking for love ( inb4 you save her and she falls for Hornet ), or wandering Zote picking fights with more monsters, or even you and letting you beat the shit out of him again.
>or even you
phone posting at 4:50 am is not a good decision. I can't type for shit.
Thanls that is al I wanted to hear.
S-sorry
I think in Silksong we will get maps from the warrior bug with scrolls in her backpack (seen in ). She is listed as a "new friend" in the teaser, but seems to assume a fighting stance when Hornet approaches. Maybe this time we will have to fight her every time we want a new map instead of just paying up.
Damn the Cyclone Slash is ridiculously powerful in the early game right after getting the Mantis Claw.
>struggling with the Radiant
>decide to switch charms around and equip the spell damage boost instead of nail range
>kill it within 2 tries
Was tense as fuck. Had 1 health when it went into the final stage where it shoots lasers at you while you climb the platform. I actually got hit just as I was delivering the final attack, but the cutscene triggered and I won anyways.
And yet I still can't beat the fucking TRAIL OF THE FOOL FUCKING LASKFDALJ12P3O5IR FUCK THIS CHALLENGE FUCK THE PART WHERE THE FLOOR BECOMES ALL SPIKES AND YOU HAVE TO WALLJUMP FOR LIKE 10 WAVES OF ENEMIES IN A ROW
I wanna get it on switch, but im not big fan of platformers. Should i? What is it about anyway?
Dark Souls with bugs.
ew
Dark Souls of 2D Dark Souls rip-offs.
Pale King pretty much convinced the people she created to follow him instead, effectively betraying her.
The fact that he could "bargain" with her people proves that the world wasn't mindless under her light; reminder that what this game means with "hivemind" is not the same meaning we usually give it.
We don't know much about her relationship or impact with the rest of the bug world at the pre-hallownest era other than moths.
It's implied the other conscious tribes existed (spiders, mantises, bees, mosskin, etc) and all we know for sure is that she was the godchief of the tribe under her creation. Unn seemed to be the godchief of the mosskin: maybe the other tribes were under similar protections, who knows.
PK gave minds to lesser bugs so he could kickstart his reign, and then tried to assimilate the existing tribes because he wished to unite everything under his sole vision, hence the truce with the mantises (who never accepted him but respected him enough), him trying to connect Distant Village to the kingdom, etc. The Hive remained independent.
We don't know if he did this due to greed of power or genuine altruism. Regardless, him convincing the moth tribe to forget their creator was a dick move, and guaranteed to come back to bite him in his ass.
He jeopardized everything and fucked over a fellow goddess for one single tribe, who probably ended up paying the biggest price probably since the Seer is said to be their last survivor.
It's more or less confirmed that the infection is not on purpose, but a side effect of the bugs resisting her influence by instinct.
Like a resistor heating up too much.
As far as I'm concerned, no, she's not evil. She's just an individual desperately trying to not die (getting forgotten for a god is pretty much death).
And the poor mortal bugs just got caught between the shenanigans of 2 gods.
It is worse actually. The void has a mind now, and light to stop it/balance it out.
I hope you're using Sharp Shadow? It's perfect for the colosseum in general, but especially that portion. You can take off all of the stress of trying to hit them.
In addition, Nailmaster's Glory is perfect against flying/hovering guys since the great slash's AoE is fucking enormous and it's a big frontload of damage.
>and light to stop it
and no light to stop it*
>but im not big fan of platformers.
Well platforming is a huge part of it, and also a bunch of bosses.
>The fact that he could "bargain" with her people proves that the world wasn't mindless under her ligh
Alternatively, moths were indeed mindless under Radiance, Pale King first gave them sentience and then asked if they are going to worship him or go back to being vegetables.
Trial of the fool is fucking my ass real hard.
Same
We don't really know if they were truly Mindless way back though.
>It's more or less confirmed that the infection is not on purpose, but a side effect of the bugs resisting her influence by instinct.
doesn't the radiance directly try to use the infection to get Myla to kill you
The thing is, nothing in the game implies the moths were mindless, where a lot of things hint that the "hivemind" thing is both a misunderstanding on our part, and the fact that the word is used differently in this world:
The Hive retained it's "independence" from PK, is said to be still in "auto" mode: with this the Hive Knight is implied by the Hunter's Journal to be heavily tied to his bloodkind through strong instincts, to the point the Hunter calls him a "slave", yet we can see bits of personality in his animations and he even has a mind of his own when dreamnailed.
The way the moth tribe "sealed" the Radiance, and the fact they already had a developed culture (based around their unique dream control abilities), and that they retained this after choosing PK, hints that they were not mindless.
The mosskin is said to come from lands beyond Hallownest, and they worshipped Unn, which kind of proves there existed tribes with minds before PK, and further hints that what Pale King did was give minds to the non-tribe beast bugs, so he could get the numbers.
>doesn't the radiance directly try to use the infection to get Myla to kill you
Yes. But that doesn't necessarily imply she's purposely causing the orange blobs everywhere.
From her side of things, she's trying to influence individuals she feels she can reach to destroy the weaponized void before it becomes too strong. But by the pic I posted it could be argued the "disease" is a side-effect of her influence being too strong for normal bugs.
Besides, she wants to be remembered. When you think about it, it literally doesn't make sense for her to want to kill all the bugs in the world. She has no reason to want that, not even in revenge: it's counterproductive to her goal.
>We don't know if he did this due to greed of power or genuine altruism.
"Minds expanded, to yield, to devote. Eternity in promise and charge in progeny cursed."
That doesn't sound very altruistic to me. It sounds like he only gave them sentience so they could worship him. For all eternity.
He didn't want worship, he just wanted to build the perfect kingdom. Eternal kingdom.
>Besides, she wants to be remembered. When you think about it, it literally doesn't make sense for her to want to kill all the bugs in the world. She has no reason to want that, not even in revenge: it's counterproductive to her goal.
We don't know that. For all we know she's pretty much gone off the fucking deep end.
And judging by the infection? That's probably the case.
With him as their God-King. That's the important part.
He's a god after all. Pretty much every god in Hallownest, except for the void, wants to be worshiped or perhaps they need to be worshiped even.
Well, he was a god to begin with, sort of. Like the other "higher beings" in the world. But he wanted to be a king. You could also see it as a step down in title. He wasn't just some power-hungry bug trying to elevate himself to godhood status in the eyes of his subjects. Before Hallownest there were only savage tribes like the mantises. He literally built the kingdom with his own hands.
>the infection is not on purpose, but a side effect of the bugs resisting her influence by instinct
Actually, we only know that from the moss prophet, and she's most obviously fucking nuts.
Guys, I have this flower quest that I gotta do. The Grey Mourner said that if I damage it somehow, the item will be forever lost. Is it an one time chance to succeed?
Yes.
If you fuck it up you can just return for another one. Also, you can use flowers to court waifus instead of delivering them to the grave.
Why is Hornet always drswn angry?
I mean yeah, that sounds a bit too conceited, but you can't argue with his results.
He single-handedly uplifted the bugs of Hallownest to first world standards.
And while he tried to expand his territory, nothing, literally nothing in the game nor the lore even hints that he ever used force to do so, and we have no accounts that he ever waged war.
I mean, just look at the mantis tribe: they rejected his rule, so instead he made a deal with them so they'll keep the Deepnest at bay and he wouldn't bother them. He seemed like a diplomat.
And he was loved by his people. I think he was a great leader, just too idealistic for his own good in his obsession to rule everything with his vision being the only one that could ever exist, to the point he made one mistake and fucked up.
>she's crazy
We don't know that at all.
I honestly don't think neither were evil. We've got one of the "sides" of the story, and I feel most players are too prone to point fingers without much analysis. But what we know seems to point that Radiance was fucked over first and now she's just desperately trying to survive.
In reality this is a tragedy about 2 great individuals who couldn't come to a minor agreement, so they lost everything for it and their "children" payed the price.
The tribe Radiance personally created and maybe even loved is gone, perhaps even extinct, and she's ultimately consumed by the darkness.
Pale King's kingdom, his people, and everything he sacrificed his previous divine form to create, is destroyed, and Godseeker says his entire existence has somehow been "erased".
Just imagine the alternative universe where the moth tribe decided to remain independent like the mantises or the hive.
>both gods alive
>no void fuckery
>Hallownest alive and happy
>5 great knights still fucking around in adventures
>moth tribe alive and keeping their peaceful ways not bothering anyone
The only downside is that we wouldn't have the characters we love.
yeah
I recommend using grub eulegy and sprint/dashmaster
anons may say otherwise but I prefer the route from city of tears to the fungal wastes to the queens garden
Cause she's a heartless bitch who murders her half-siblings.
Cut moss prophet dialogue:
"To change ones form is a blasphemy against the light! To steal the soul of weaker creatures is a blasphemy against the light! And most of all... most of all! To DIE is a blasphemy against the light! Live forever, brother and sisters, or be cursed for all eternity!"
"For a God, there is only one crime: To die."
Seems thematically relevant, seeing how the two other gods we've seen most of (PK and Grimm) are all about death and rebirth, which seems to be blasphemous to the Radiance.
>I recommend using grub eulegy
Just run the route first before accepting the quest and clear out all the dangerous enemies. The only ones that respawn instantly are non-threatening crawlers and flies.
>and sprint/dashmaster
It's not like you're being timed, so sprintmaster is not necessary. And dashmaster is more likely to get you killed by accidentally dashing downwards.
Ah, no. that sounds annoying.
>We don't know that at all.
We know that moss phophet and her flock got completely fucked up by the infection even though they welcomed it instead of resisting. That solidly proves that she was wrong.
Pale King is noted for being obsessed about eternal live though.
And a lot of characters in Hallownest seem to be able to hold "indefinitely" for decades or even centuries.
I LOST THE DAMN FLOWER ON MY FIRST ENEMY ENCOUNTER
I die every 8 minutes or so just exploring, I am currently in greenpath, trying the first hornet.
Will I ever git gud or it's beyond me?
I'm 29 and never played metroidvanias
We literally don't know anything about the Prophet not in what state he is.
Prophets are always nuts themselves anyways, and always use the excuse of an idol to give their own words a false holy authority. I wouldn't trust a crazy hobo for this.
Besides, they're mosskins, and Unn is the higher being they're supposed to acknowledge.
They're literally faith betrayers, which this whole thing is about.
The game doesn't require you to git gud to get the normal ending, kist keep playing if you find it fun.
What the hell were the Five Knights even for? All lore about the past seems to indicate Hollownest was pretty peaceful with no general crime or conflict. Which is pretty strange that no foreign entity has tried to invade for plunder and resources.
>even though they welcomed it instead of resisting
We don't know that though. He could've very much lost his mind after the infection got to him, and not before. The infection is known for fucking with your mind after all.
>That solidly proves that she was wrong
How?
swiggity swooty
I really, really liked Hollow Knight. Is the DLC worth playing, yes or no.
a kingdoms gotta have knights, and sawblades, lots of sawblades.
>We literally don't know anything about the Prophet not in what state he is
Oh yeah, I bet having cancer tumors all over your body and being unable to form thoughts longer than one word is total bliss and Radiance's gift to her beloved believer. You are trying way too hard to portray the situation as morally ambiguous.
As peaceful as it was, I doubt the kindgom was out of problems from the entirety of its existence.
There were beasts and dangerous, strong criminals, and monsters and more problems. And shit like Deepnest too.
The world of Hollow Knight is very varied.
Knights are used for War, Hollownest never had war. So I don't reslly see the purpose to why the Knights exist.
>Radiance's gift to her beloved believer
Pffeh. Way to miss the entire point of what I've been discussing.
that we know of, other kingdoms do exist out there.
>What the hell were the Five Knights even for?
To fuck mantes, spiders, bees and other subbugs that don't worship King's idols while grinding on sawblades.
>The Champion's Call, the Knotted Grove, the Battle of the Blackwyrm... I remember it all. I will carry those glories with me always... until we meet again.
Post yfw the Knight is not an empty vessel because the player is planting ideas in his empty mind
You literally don't know if he was "loyal" to Radiance before the infection.
He probably doesn't even know about her and it's just blabbing nonsense through his foggy, damaged mind.
When you find him his mind is obviously already in a very poor state, and we know that's what the infection does, it fucks with your brain. Again, he could've become like that AFTER the infection , and not before like you're claiming without any of what we know about him even coming close to indicating that.
But did any of them come with an army to attack Hollownest?
The Champions Call and the Battle of the Blackwyrm imply some kind of armed conflict.
Well, then he's still empty in your case.
As one of the guys who regularly complains about the lgbq and other neomarxist bullshit in vidya these days this and the grey carpetmuncher don't bother me. I'm not being asked to fight against conservative cultists or help them sort out their gender issues or something like that.
that logic is like saying a country shouldn't have an army because it's never been invaded before.
Wasn't the point that supposedly the infection hits harder the more the subject was struggling against Radiance's brainwashing? Which should've been non-existent in the Prophet's case. But he got fucked up super-hard anyway.
what's his fucking deal
Country armies exist because of foreign threats and rivalries dumb idiot. We see none of that shit in Hollownest apart from the Spiders but that wouldn't really warrant making knights.
I have beat every boss on radiant and yet i bow to your greatness.
Well fucking done my man.
Deepnest did, near constantly until the bargain with the beast.
He loved to watch.
Actually, in reality this is just the natural order of things.
There is no possible alternative happy universe because judging from the world of Hollow Knight all gods and civilizations will eventually implode on itself. It's in the Wyrm's blood to hold dominion over lesser bugs, even if it wasn't the Pale King, at some point another Wyrm would reveal itself to fuck shit up. Even if Unn, the mushrooms, the White Lady, and the Radiance all minded their own business, without a shred of doubt another light will pop up to blind all others. And in their efforts to outshine one another, those lights too will flicker and struggle as they slowly but surely concede to the darkness.
Hell and even if you chose to worship the darkness, the ancient civilization that predated Hallownest are gone as well. Meaning that their fates too were not meant to be eternal.
The Godseekers that dedicated their lives to attuning and worshiping their gods were abandoned too.
And if the Grimm Troupe is anything to go by, there's never an end to kingdoms they can feed from.
Basically fuck everybody void is the true alpha-omega.
Well until yet another new light pops up again to guide the mortal bugs.
Uhuh, okay, so what your saying is except for deepnest, who personally put an end to his ambitions of a tramway going west via murdering all his workers, the pale king totally didn't need an army in his kingdom to keep the peace, fend off wild bugs, or guard any vips such as the white lady.
He's said to be the opposite of the Collector in deepest lore circles.
Battle of BlackWyrm I guess implies this was fought in Kingdoms edge. Would have been pretty cool to see a map section of a massive warzone with siegemachines, warbeasts and mounds of corpses in the background and a bossfight with the insane Hannibal general obsessed with conquering Hollownest.
How do I get lots of geo easily?
Yes, I have finished the game (once).
Guards and security/=/ standing army
>tfw dodging all three while slowly chipping down their health.
And my point is that we literally don't know how much was he resisting before you find him ALREADY infected and with his mind ALREADY in a nebulous as fuck state.
Fuck's sake, he has orange eyes the first time you meet him already. His state is as advanced as when you find Myla "alive" and barely mumbling for the last time before stopping being her.
The struggle may have or may not have happened, but we don't know that because the first time we met him (or her, I genuinely have no idea what is it) he's already on the next phase and it is too late.
Farm Trial of Conqurer for 2000 Geo.
>Battle of BlackWyrm I guess implies this was fought in Kingdoms edge
The corpse in Kigdom's Edge is of a pale wyrm, the one that became Pale King. The big corpse in Queen's Gardens is labeled as higher_being_corpse, so maybe that was the black wyrm. It's too small though.
>one eye
What bug could he be based on.
A worm perhaps?
So you're saying it truly is the bugborne of Dark Souls?
>tfw you beat the tripple phase without getting hit
higher being coming through
There are fan theories that the six-eyed lifeblood being in the Abyss and Godhome is the Blackwyrm.
>Guards and security/=/ standing army
Do you think the 5 (five) knights were the former or the latter?
>452574729
how the fuck do you think security was done before formal police became a thing? you are a retard and I'm not gracing you with a single further (you), the knights existed because the king fucking said so, and they mostly seemed to have acted as bodyguards to the king, the queen, and various important locations.
So everything you like and love will die at some point...
The prophet was infected and wasn't resisting.
c-cute
Shape up faggot, or nobody's going to paint a nude portrait of you.
No I think the dozens of city guard and crossroad guards aee the former which means the latter has no point of existing since the Mantis sisters are keeping Deepnest away.
>interspecies relationships
How does this work in Hollow Knight? First the Mantis Lord's daughter and the Grey Mourner, and then this. Iselda and Cornifer are the same species, aren't they?
ZOTE PRECEPT 56
Do Not Dream. Dreams are dangerous things. Strange ideas, not your own, can worm their way into your mind. But if you resist those ideas, sickness will wrack your body! Best not to dream at all, like me.
The Great 5 were clearly his friends. The whole knight thing was just an excuse to the plebes.
>you're now imagining the King and his knights doing the FRIENDS intro
The most important thing is to learn the enemies' attack patterns. Each of her attacks, and that of the other bosses, has a simple counter, like hopping twice over her boomerang needle, or walking or jumping from her dive in the right direction. They come fast enough so It's still challenging at first, but once you figure out how to counter her moves you'll eventually find your rythem, and when it's safe to attack.
> the existence of patrolling police means SWAT team have no point of existing
Daily reminder that the Mantis "civilization" are a bunch of weak savages. A Guard Sentry could take on dozens of Mantises. A single Great Knight could eradicate their entire "village". Praise the Pale King.
I like to think we'll come to understand the Pale King's actions a bit better with Silksong, with the lore and characters within the new kingdom giving us a better perspective of Hallownest and the Pale King.
Yeah, Iselda and Cornfier both look like they're based on mosquitos.
>equating Swat to something who's solw purpose is to fight in war
Nice meme.
yes
> knights' only purpose is fighting in wars
Learn some fucking history.
>they fight in wars and appear as pompous asses to the general peasant public
Is that better autismo?
Would you fuck a Hollow Knight?
How hollow?
Like one of the characters of the game, or you mean one of the vessels?
Yes.
Best charm, and if you disagree you're stupid.
It'll be called the Full Knight after I'm done
You can return to the grey mourner to get another flower, there's no limit to how many times you can do the quest
i'm fucking terrible at this game, i for some reason some all motor functions when attempting to do any platforming. how do i stop being a shitter.
Gottem.
Now pick one of the flowers from the grave and go swoon some ladies.
Will do. Time to cuck Cornifer.
GIVE ONE TO THE ELDERBUG
You will git gud. Don't worry about it.
Will do.
>Now pick one of the flowers from the grave
Wait, what? You can do that?
TotF is easy to cheese with sharp shadow and hiveblood. In the airborne part, just cling to the walls and dash through enemies with SS to damage them, hiveblood will help you heal some damage if you can evade for a bit. When you fight the boss, just hang out up on the walls if you need to heal, make sure to dash over it if it rolls. Ignore the rider, she's easy to dodge and will surrender if the mount dies.
>i for some reason some all motor functions
wat
>how do i stop being a shitter
Look for a challenge that is a bit superior to your skill level so that it forces you to become better.
Doing the Path of Pain was a torture, but after I was done with it the rest of the game platforming was suddenly much better for me.
Same thing with the Trial of the Fool, pain in the ass to do it, but you can feel your combat skills and reflexes improving when you finally beat it.
Makes sense. In any kind of competition (sports, games, anything) they always tell you that the best way to improve is to practice against people who are better than you.
