why don't you play it dipshit?
it hasn't arrived yet
*AHEM*
FUCK ADULTS! AND FUCK AUTHORITY!
i dont know who that is, ill never remember the names
a game that betrays its own themes about social outcasts by making fun of social outcasts that are not as attractive as the main cast
A lot of reading mixed in with the dungeon crawling which is pretty standard jrpg stuff but with monster collection
Around 80-100 hours of nothing. Make sure to play on hard at least because anything easier is brain dead easy.
thanks user, am I in for a fun time? Need something to get into before DMC releases
Probably. The game lasted pretty long for me at least.
This and you get to pick a waifu or a dude
can i lecture the dude about the evils of homosexuality
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. I'm assuming you mean mishima being treated like shit?
Hype teenage rebellion that dies off pretty quick the more bonehead characters they shove into your party. Make sure you bully Akechi.
>never played a persona game before
Half the game is dungeon raids with Pokemon mechanics, half the game is comfy real life social simulator. The game expects you to do at least two runs, so you can just fuck around in your first run and use NG+ for anything you missed the first time around. Also it's still at its core an SMT game, so don't be one of those retards who think the game should be more "personal." You will get demons and angels and monsters and gods and if you don't like it play another game.
This never actually happens.
as an example yeah
Really cool for 10 hours
Fucking slog for another 80 but by the point you realize you're not having fun you're already too invested in the story and characters
>The game expects you to do at least two runs
It doesn't
>This never actually happens.
not to mention that the main cast is incredibly talented and/or rich, yet still blame everything on those effing adults
Reminded me about koe no ketachi where everyone bullied the ugly guy and this was presented as okay and funny
Persona at its core is a game heavily influenced by psychology, mainly but not exclusively Jungian hence the title. As a result the game's themes are psychological in nature, dealing with a specific aspect of human nature that ends up becoming a recurring theme throughout each individual game. And since Persona is an SMT spinoff, the final boss always ends up being a godlike creature who embodies that aspect of human nature that the game is examining. Understand this so you're not one of the brainlets who comes back after 100 hours and goes "wtf where did that dumb god come from what an asspull"
Post high t. content
Mishima had problems different from Joker. Mishima got power hungry and was desperate for the spotlight after all of that shit Kamoshida made him go through. Joker didn't and is less interesting as a character than Mishima as a result because LOL NO FLAWS. There's a difference.
worst mainline persona game
Just remember to take your time
Trannies and landwhales are not people, get over it
Notwithstanding that there are things locked off behind NG+ (5 not so much as previous games since it's just one boss fight and one fusion), the game encourages the player to mess around and take their time in the first run, and using a guide to 100% the first run just ends up ruining the experience by focusing on just what's "optimal" to the detriment of half the game's content.
You'll never see it coming
>A literal self-insert with the bare minimum of established personality is less interesting as a character
No fucking shit.
Prove me wrong.
read Jung, he was on to something. you got my hype up
You don't need to use a guide, p5 is easy enough that you can get by without one, if you were just messing around it makes sense you fucked up but if you pay attention to the game you can easily max every confidant in one playthrough.
Greetings /fit/izen
>easily max every confidant in one playthrough without a game
lolno
>Generic anime plot
>Generic anime characters
>No real character growth during main story as it's tied to social links (and even then it's very whatever for the most part)
>Game that drags on so much at times
>Restricted gameplay because cat says so
>Repetitive gameplay (also have fun dragging specific arcana personae to social links)
That's what.
This isn't p3 user, of course you can. There's even a skill which lets you get confidant points with no time investment which means you don't need to pick exact correct responses like the other games since you can just pay for the points.
>452499632
Okay resetera
Not at all true. Ryuji has to deal with being ostracized by his track friends. Ann had to deal with Kamoshida exploiting her. Futaba only blames adults because they FUCKING KILLED HER MOM and it's not adults in general but those guys behind the conspiracy with the plot. Yusuke was also exploited by his "mentor". The game doesn't really say "FUCK ADULTS" but rather it criticizes people who abuse power. Akechi and Mishima are examples of underage people abusing power while Sojiro, Kawakami and etc are example of adults that are portrayed positively.
>Prove me wrong
I just did
Anyone made a Joker frog?
There's a LOT of shit that goes over people's heads or otherwise confuses them because they forget or don't bother learning what stuff like personas or shadows actually are. The franchise plays around with both throughout each individual game, but is generally consistent, and people only get confused because they make assumptions that have no basis just because the game has a gotta-catch-em-all mechanic so they assume personas are just edgy Pokemon.
Well you need to stumble upon that skill quite early, and even with it it's still not easy since there are several unoptimal options that aren't clearly so.
a slow start, but good game
And even with that it's very doable, I played very unoptimally and I still maxed it, it's not a hard game to max if you aren't messing around the whole game
>very unoptimally and I still maxed it
But that's not even possible...
the worst game in the series, being only praised by zoomers that never played other Persona or even an actual SMT game before.
generic and far from human characters, somewhat decent plot, but still generic, social links are kinda shitty, and being restricted by a fucking cat
A flawed but genuinely good game
youtu.be
You're in for some great music.
and a clusterfuck of a third act
>if you aren't messing around the whole game
Yeah but that was the point; the game expects you to mess around and take a look at everything the game has to offer. That's why NG+ is so generous, so you can absolutely finish everything you missed on your first run.
Ryuji literally says something along the line of "fuck adults".
Ryuji is literally the archetypal idiot rebel teenager
Yeah but that's Ryuji, he's treated as a loudmouth moron even in-universe by the other PTs.
The game very obviously is not telling you "LOL ALL ADULTS ARE BAD" just because the dumb blonde chucklefuck who everyone else acknowledges is a dumb chucklefuck says something dumb/crass. Did you just forget about all the adult characters who weren't bad guys?
It is if you don't play like a retard. I made dumb decisions, like I maxed charm before doing Ohya's link and she gives charm, I could have saved like 8 time slots from that yet I still had every confidant maxed by the beginning of december, just don't play like a retard.
I don't know why you encourage people to aim low, it isn't hard, just do fortune and temperance as early as you can and that's a guaranteed success, rather than wasting like 60 hours of someones time by getting them to play it again.
>rather than wasting like 60 hours of someones time by getting them to play it again.
They're going to need to in order to actually 100% anyway, unless they look up what they need for the last fusion right away and make sure to save enough money for that plus the bonus boss right when they unlock Mementos.
>that moment in the story where he almost makes a heroic sacrifice but makes it out alive
>the girls beat the shit out of him when he comes back
I like the game but that shit really pissed me off
I really don't know what you gain by lying.
>I just did
Shit I read that reply wrong. Didn't mean to write that, sorry.
the first party member you get who is also the best bro character and the one you have the most interaction with at the beginning isn't supposed to be acknowledged
We all know a lot of people quit playing the game during the second palace so all they really saw was, "Fuck adults!" It would've been better if any other party members reprimanded him about his attitude.
The next Persona should have an all male party cast and this would make the games better. Prove me wrong.
if your hopping for the game to become better after the castle, dont. it will either stay the same or become a bit worst depending on your tastes.
>making the games even more fujobait than they already are would be better
Nasty fujoshi, I can smell your rotting teeth from here.
There's a difference between banter and shunning a character away. Other people actually avoid Mishima while making fun of him, the cast talk about his flaws and you and Futaba engage in banter but you and the main cast don't avoid him and actually hang out with him
>Fujobait when the last time there was yaoi romance was back in 2
Good joke
Take a shower
The worst Persona game.
God please port it to PC already. I don't want to have to use my PS4 ever again.
That comic is why I find tomboys so overrated.
>just bought this, never played a persona game before, what am I in for?
I hope you like long stretches of visual-novel-esuqe non-interactive expository dialogue, user.
the main cast never hangs out with him rather makes fun of him behind his back. Morgana always makes snide comments about him. As for the player then you always have the choice to be rude to him(as opposed to any other character a part from some choices with akechi) and some times the game forces you to give rude answers to him.
>cherry-picking WRPGs from 20+ years ago when every WRPG this gen is the same shallow shit as JRPGs
Do the people who say Persona 5 is all about saying fuck you to adults even play the game? It's about rejecting authority, not adults. If the game was about horrible adults they never would have made half the fucking confidants adults, literally the only high schoolers outside your party in P5 is Hifumi and Mishima, unlike P3 or P4 which had plenty. It's a Japanese game, you gotta look at it from a Japanese point of view where your superior is always better than you and as an underling, you gotta accept what bullshit they say no matter what.
it's really fucking boring. and the combat gets old VERY quickly.
it is basically a visual novel. i was never into those, so maybe that is why i didn't like it.
the music is top tier, tho
Even the most shallow current wrpg is still better than persona 5 in this regard.
What's the lie, p5 is easy to max compared to p3 and p4, that isn't a lie, that's a straight fact. P3 and P4 don't give you many options, to max everything you need to always pick the right options and have a very precise schedule, p5 isn't like that, they give you the tools to do everything yourself, like free social stat ups like taking care of the plant, going to the juice stand on sundays, always having a book to read on the train. The confidant abilities give you a lot more lenience since you don't need to play perfectly anymore, temperance gives you time slots in class to level up stats and time slots after dungeons and she can even do some activies (like making coffee or crafting lockpicks) without taking a time slot for you, fortune lets you get free confidant points and increase the rate you level up social stats. P5 has so many tools you can use that you never could in P3, if you make use of those tools you will max every confidant, it's not like p3 where even if you follow a perfect guide you will only have a day to spare, p5 was designed that if you payed attention and made use of all of the mechanics they gave you then anyone can max out p5, which much more people did in p5 compared to any of the previous games. Fuck off with encouraging people to aim low and not take the game seriously, it's unneeded.
secondary poser.
I hate people who jump in to the latest installment because it is popular.
>>cherry-picking WRPGs from 20+ years ago when every WRPG this gen is the same shallow shit as JRPGs
Would you be satisfied if I contrast jrpgs and wrpgs from 20 years ago to modern jrpgs and wrpgs?
can you imagine a game having the balls to say "the first guy to not judge you on rumors and have your back is fucking dead forever"
Im up for something new, it looks stylish and anime bullshit kinda fun
Stay mad your shit games got kicked out of the spotlight
are you against people trying something new? Im not playing it so people think im cool, are you 12?
>compared to p3 and p4
irrelevant
>encouraging people to aim low
literally no one is doing that, people are encouraging him to play it blindly.
It's unfair you get to enjoy the new games without enduring all the bullshit in the older ones.
I love SMT and I enjoyed Persona 5. What now?
>literally no one is doing that, people are encouraging him to play it blindly.
read the thread retard, an user said
> you can just fuck around in your first run
You don't need to fuck around, just pay attention and you can max everything.
"fuck around" clearly means, to someone who isn't mentally retarded, to NOT bother with your walkthroughs, and not "hurr I'll now sleep through half the days and level up stats I'm already max in".
You're a fucking pansy if you think thats rude when you are friends, jesus grow some balls. When he gets fucked by society nobody tells him to fuck off like when they let him stay in the hotel room or when the girls who were supposed to be coming for a date reject him. Making fun of your friends for being weird is not always a rude thing when your party members do it to each other all the time. It doesn't matter much because you're friends
You don't need to use a walkthrough to max everything though, you did for p3, but not for p5.
Only brainlets got triggered by this
not a full walkthrough but you need to look up what to avoid and what are more beneficial than others.
A game about forming deep bonds with people for your own personal gain. As you do a considerable chunk of the socializing section for the sole purpose of gaining bonuses, and not because you actually care about the character. Fuck Makoto
It's pretty fun and good to relax. You can pump in some hours and not even see the time go. Also excited for DMC5.
>when you are friends
except no one befriends him in the first place as I just clarified to you. So your whole "it's just a joke bro XD" line isn't even applicable here.
I mean isn't it just Joker and Ryuji that just hang out with him?
thats what Im looking for, something different to get into while waiting for DMC, and prob Sekiro after that
I like how what you said its actually canon too lol
>the main cast never hangs out with him
Ryuji hangs out with him all the time, and nobody else has any reason to.
>and some times the game forces you to give rude answers to him.
The game "forces" you to give rude answers to a lot of people, because some people either respond better to that (like Iwai respecting you better because you have the guts to shit-talk him) or need a verbal slap in the face to realize they're being an idiot, like Mishima did.
Who is the best boy and why is it Yusuke?
Except Mishima did nothing wrong.
He became mad with power and actually suggested that the Phantom Thieves start to purge the nonbelievers.
Unironically based.
Yeah but he changed his own heart, that's badass
I'm not the only one here who kind of doesn't like how different dialogue options affect how fast you build your bond with that confidant? I mean yeah it's a no brainer that not showing empathy is going to slow down development, but then you have more neutral based options that you as the player can say because you don't necessarily agree with what your confidant said.
It's not realistic because your lines are always so irrelevant it's hard to imagine they have any impact on the relationship. Like yeah my favorite colour is blue instead of green now we're lovers.
That's kind of the point of the main character being a wild card. He changes his public persona based on what those around him respond better to.
Pro tip, get Fortune to rank 7 and you can just pay for confidant points, so picking sub optimal dialogue choices doesn't really matter that much
So he's an NPC?
Oh shit I forgot about that. Thanks for the tip.
>So he's an NPC?
No Futaba, he's the main character.
>Character is constantly changing for the situation and never having core interests that are at least virtually consistent
Sounds like an NPC
I don't what games you play or if you even play games because npcs aren't like that in games
That's the opposite of an NPC, NPCs are rigid with the most extreme versions literally just repeating the same line over and over. Joker is a quasi-self-insert, not an established character. Same as in 3 and 4.
I'm referring to the Wojak NPC meme, not vidya NPCs
Joker and Ryuji befriend him you fuck
It's almost like speaking in buzzwords that mean the opposite of what those terms mean in reality marks you as a complete moron.
>whiny kids exploring a big tower because uhhhhh
dumb
>whiny kids jumping into TV land because uhhhh
stupid
>gentleman thief and his cohorts stealing evil desires from within the hearts of villains to change society
that's the shit
Yeah I should have said something along the lines of "He's too much of a slave to public image to just be himself" instead of just buzzwords. My bad.
you uh missed a few games there buddy.
its a bit pokemon esque in terms of abilities and moves. i.e. dont use electric against electric "types".
You'll go around collected personas who take the form of monsters/mythological creatures/gods/demons and the game tells you a little bit about them in the compendium so its pretty cool trivia from different cultures.
You'll meet friends along the way whilst trying to solve a mystery of some shit going down.
Pretty fun game, worth a NG+, takes around 150 hours to beat.
Great soundtrack and unarguably the best UI I've ever seen in a game; it tells a story within itself, it's great.
It can feel a little grindy, but that's a JRPG for you. Enjoy it user.
It's not about public image, it's about building bonds with people around you for mutual benefit. In fact having a flexible persona rather than a more rigid one is the crux of Jungian philosophy to begin with.
What do you mean? Those are the 3 Persona games.
I don't see why you can just be yourself with them while still remaining friends. I don't see why people should have flexible personas rather than themselves to begin with. Then again I don't know much of Jung's works.
>I don't see why people should have flexible personas rather than themselves to begin with
A persona is an aspect of the real self. The point was that if the persona is too rigid then it means the person's own self is too narrowly defined by their career or other aspect of their life. For example, you would expect a doctor to have interests outside of being a doctor, and he would act differently while pursuing those interests than he would while on the job as a doctor.
>I don't see why you can just be yourself with them while still remaining friends.
Well you can "be yourself" (keeping in mind Joker isn't a defined character, so it would just be you the player being yourself), you just won't get the confidant bonuses, because these are all a wide variety of different people with different personalities, goals and interests. Sojiro is going to like you more if you're a goody two-shoes, while Iwai is going to tell you to take a hike and get that crap out of his store, just because they're two different people. It'd be more unrealistic if that wasn't the case. So if you want to be friends with both of them, you need to act differently.
Yeah I'm starting to see your point, it just still feels dishonest to me to change your attitude and interests in different confidants.
Then don't. It's only necessary if you want the gameplay bonuses.
A great game
wow OP, this one is kind of crappy. Not a great one to enter the franchise with.
Tons of superfluous dialogue. Just skip it
>Ryuji has to deal with being ostracized by his track friends
Who he was the star of.
>Ann had to deal with Kamoshida exploiting her.
Because she is the prettiest girl at school and a model without even trying.
> Futaba only blames adults because they FUCKING KILLED HER MOM and it's not adults in general but those guys behind the conspiracy with the plot.
World famous hacker.
>Yusuke was also exploited by his "mentor".
Ridiculously talented artist who attracts women unknowingly.
How are they outcasts again? They're all megachads.
play the fucking game
Goro is the traitor
>You're unable to have issues despite having talents
>DUDE HoW Is FuTubA aN OuTCast dESpiTE HER ISolatING hERself?
>Implying I said they were all outcasts in the first place
>Implying it's still impossible to have issues despite having talents
>durr hurr durr
Fucking brainlet. The game isn't about outcasts. It's about people being dicked around by society instead of being allowed to be themselves.
A great first 10 hours followed by a torturous 70 hours.
