what the fuck are you guys doing to your joycons to cause them to drift, I've had my switch since launch and this has never been an issue... is this another "3DS CIRCLE PAD IS FLIMSY" because people were using retard strength while playing Smash?

My issue isnt drifting, it's the damn lock mechanism that holds the joycons in place constantly breaking

Play more than 200 hours on the switch and then try the built in test.
You will be surprised how bad they are.
Also the 3DS circle pad is dogshit

I've started to have some drift problems with mine, I've been thinking about picking up that Hori D-pad joycon

>Also the 3DS circle pad is dogshit
Garbage taste

100%'d BotW and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and got 150 hours in Splatoon 2 and don't know how long in Smash, so it's safe to say I've been using my Switch a lot. I don't have any problems with stick drift.

stop being a fat angry nigger

K

LITTERALLY just putting in my bag while im not playing. THATS IT

I never dock my switch and only charge it in hand held. Im either playing it, charging it or its in my bag and that alone made it drift

Started running into an issue not with the joycons, but the Switch itself randomly losing ridiculous battery power when in sleep mode. Like I'll be 100% and take off charger and it'll die within 2 hours while on sleep mode

PSA: LITERALLY JUST SPRAY A BIT OF CONTACT CLEANER UNDER THE RUBBER COVER
500ML CAN COSTS LIKE 2 EUROS

I did that, it helped but dont forget to recalibrate and re configure the sticks after.

The main cause of the drift is dirt getting under the silicon covers of the joysticks, lifting it up with tweezers or something and blowing air in will fix it most of the time. I've been having issues getting the dirt out though so normally it just stays in until the controller starts drifting a day or two later

No need to unless you fucked with the settings with shit in the mechanism

See Air can’t get everything out, use contact cleaner, fixes it 100%

Same as me
Don't put your Switch in your bag without protection or get ready to have drift problems with your joycons

>play docked
>joycons randomly lose signal and either start lagging or dropping inputs if I don't point them directly at the console
Nintendo is fucking garbage

Mine sits behind the screen and I have no connection issues

and its absolute horse shit. i no one else would ever get away with this shitty controller design. Ive been carrying a 360 controller in that same bag for 6+ years and never an issue. But i havent even owned my switch a year yet

Can't someone come up with a Vita stick swap?

>Garbage taste
It's a flat joystick. Completely unlikable.

>works for me

Me too.
No fix.
Have fun.

Im glad nintendo at least had the foresight to make them replaceable. Imagine if your switch was forever dogshit because the joycons were built in.

Whatever floats your boat, I like circle pads. I'd actually put one on the right joycon if I could so it doesn't interfere with using face buttons.

PM'd you the fix.

That is the one smart thing I think Nintendo did. I've always tried to be careful with any of handhelds and hated sections in games where you had to mash buttons because if you fuck those up, you're basically going to have a useless handheld at some point

>so it doesn't interfere with using face buttons.
Holy fucking shit, you're actually right, I've had that problem too.
Dude, go work for nintendo.

>right joycon keeps disconnecting itself at random even though it's connected to the switch
>joycon connects again and immediately starts to drift unless i set it down for a few more seconds
do I need to fucking super glue this shit to the switch so it can work properly?

i know that feel man, my first GBA had a shoulder button fall off

this
I hated having to treat my 3DS so gingerly because I knew that if the shoulder buttons or circle pad got fucked then you have to either tear it apart to fix it or buy a whole new console
I'm glad that the joycons are a controller separate from the handheld console because even through regular use your sticks and button switches will eventually wear out and now you don't have to buy a whole new system or tear it apart to remedy it

the joycons also act as a form of drop protection, there have been multiple drop tests done on the switch that show 95% of the damage gets absorbed by joycons when it's dropped on a corner instead of the whole thing just exploding

a 70 buck replacement joycon set still isn't cheap, but I'll take that over the console just being done for

Clean the controller contacts with a qtip with alcohol. You probably just have a dirty connective surface

what actually are the contact points on the joycon/switch? are they hidden underneath the lip of the metal rail or are they the rail itself?

Literally bought a joycon from someone on ebay for 14 dollars saying that the analog stick was busted, turns out it was just drift, shot some wd-40 in and now it's good as new.

Never had a problem with stick drift, but my right joycon has a constant issue with motion control drift, it just happens at random and it's annoying as fuck having to recalibrate the motion controls or wait 5 minutes for it to fix itself

im not sure exactly to be honest but i think they're under the rails, when i had your issue i just ran a qtip all around the outside of the rail on the controller and system side. It worked though
