In my opinion spirits don't deconfirm characters. If they knew who they were going to add as DLC characters before they made spirits, they still would add them as a spirit anyway, because it takes no effort and it removes suspicion of them being otherwise inexplicably absent from the game. If they decided the DLC characters after they made spirits, no matter. There's nothing wrong with removing a spirit from the game to implement a new fighter. Nobody would object to it.
