How much Tastosis makes is always a mystery we try to figure out. My take has always been that Afreeca pays them enough to survive, and then anything they make from Youtube, and foreign tournaments is bonus money. Note that Artosis has a YT channel, and 3 kids, but he also has a wife who works. Foreign casting tournaments like Blizzcon is likely most of their money.
I think they're sitting nicely at 60-75K USD per year. If they're smart, they're banking their minerals. But i see Tasteless as blowing money on whores, cocaine, and booze. Pot is probably hard to come across in Korea.

Current "Korea Time" is 2015 or 2016 (I actually forget) to 2019. That is like 3 years. Current Korea Time felt like yesterday. I just moved into my new place, and I saw a thread on Yea Forums about how Tastosis were casting the last few matches of the end of a tournament in BW. I was blown away to see SC:BW played again. I thought that had died when all the players retired in 2015.
They talked on cast how thye had begged management to cast this.
They put Tasteless under the stairs because they said he was too loud. A lot of Nick's old appeal is that he was this cool scene kid, almost too cool to be casting something nerdy like Starcraft. He seemed like this fratboy stoner friend you'd have. And he was so unprofessional, which is where the humor and entertainment came from. But, when the games were good, Nick had passion. You can tell he loves Starcraft more than anything. Nick has actually recently, like a year ago, said that he looked at his old casts with embarassment because he was so unproffessional. Which is true, but he's trying to be a serious caster now. Rather than before, when he was a fratboy scene kid who was just passionate about starcraft.
Has there been proper preservation of old Korea Time matches? I know there's a scattering of Youtube coverage, but this is often terrible quality. Many old Korean matches look like they're dvd rips, but a 2009 Youtube dvd rip is way different than what a modern DVD rip can look like. We can do way better quality now. What we need to do:

I'm sorta wondering if Tasteless might have something? He just seems to slip up way more than Artosis or other casters. Could it be alcoholic dementia? Untreated syphilis? I'm not even hoking, he just seems like he can't remember names or terms for shit now.

Artosis does as well but it's not as noticable. Personally I just think it's part of who tasteless is, he was never that great with words to begin with. He provided the energy rather than the articulation.

Tasteless does it 10x more than Arty. Arty mostly keeps calling dropships "medivacs". So he mixes Sc2 and SC1 terminology.
Was Starcraft made by wizards? It just seems so perfect. Inhumanely perfect game. It doesn't even feel like a "game", like SC2 does. This feels like some sort of ancient game they've been playing for millennia.

Why was it ever popular and why is it still more popular in Ameirca? SC, even old starcraft looks way more sharp. Way better art style. It's a paradox where 3D needs to be way more detailed and powerful to match 2D sprites in terms of clarity and detail.
Look at 3D fighters. They just now have made 3D models for games on the PS4 that are as detailed as 2D sprites are. Look at the PSP remakes of MM1 and MMX. The detail went down for MMX! PSP is way stronger than a snes, so it seems counter-intuitive.
Especially with the custom skins added. It's all so blobby and blurry. Everything is like some extreme parody of its original skin.
Luckily GSL avoids those skins like the plague.

I think it's more that the modern idea of competitive RTS is shaped around starcraft. Micro and macro were developed there and they spread to everything else.
They literally had very little idea what they were doing when they designed it, hence why there are units like ghosts and scouts. And there are units which they clearly thought out very well like corsairs or scourge or vultures. But sometimes you need that throwaway impulsive desgin rather than the committee desgined SC2/diablo 3
