Cinematic games are only OK when Rockstar does it!
Cinematic games are only OK when Rockstar does it!
spoken like a true underage zoomer contrarian
Max Payne 3 sucks though and RDR is alright.
spbp
I don't mind cinematic games so I dig RDR
How could anyone possibly play those two games and think they're anything alike?
Unironically, they are really good at it.
Plus there is actually a game in there, it just so happens they are really good at making games seem cinematic.
Both Max Payne and RDR are great but for different reasons.
>implying Rockstar isn't zoomer core
zoom zoom go buy a shark card
>You can do sick combat rolls in the first RDR
>RDR2 comes out
>You can now only do a retarded dive that makes you ragdoll if you mess up or hit something
Fuck you Rockstar
RDR is kino. So is Max Payne.
this but unironically
>RDR is kino
That's what makes it bad.
>start level
>five minute unskippable cutscene of max bitching through a soupy haze of chromatic abberation and shitty comicbook-lite effects
>finally start playing but max is on-rails walking and talking as he goes
>five minutes later
>come to a door
>cutscene of max bitching about doors and having to open them like a chump
>cutscene of max sneaking into a room full of enemies, picking the worst piece of cover dead center of the room
>immediately gets everyone's attention
>copy paste brazillians flood into the room
>kill them
>more spawn
>kill them
>more spawn
>cutscene of max throwing away his big gun so he can scratch his ass with his pistol
>walk 3 feet
>entire rest of the level is a cutscene until the on-rails mounted gun part
>hold fire
>mission complete
fucking riveting stuff.
HUMAN GLUE
Rockstar is the only one that knows how to write a good story.
Though I'd still prefer them to make actual movies and books.
you can tell they want to make movies
whats keeping them?
>RDR is a movie. So is Max Payne.
that's the idea of this thread you loser
If you think any rockstar game has "good writing" Then you don't read
Witcher 3 has tons of walking
Dragon’s Dogma has tons of walking
Morrowind has tons of walking (at a snail’s pace)
GTA/RDR have tons of walking/driving/horseback riding
No More Heroes has tons of walking + boring tasks like picking up trash to make enough money to pay the entry fee
Super Mario Odyssey has tons of walking + boring tasks like kicking rocks and ground pounding random spots to get moons, which are required to beat the game
Ocarina of Time has a ton of walking (at a snail’s pace, so slow players will roll to their next destination) as well as most 3D Zeldas
BOTW has tons of walking
New Vegas has tons of walking, as well as most WRPGs with a travel system or that lean more towards an open-world (Daggerfall, the original Fallouts, Arcanum, Wizardry 8, etc)
MGSV has tons of walking, all MGS games have walking + backtracking. MGS3 has an entire sequence where you just climb a giant ladder.
Mount & Blade has tons of walking and horseback riding
Any adventure game will have tons of walking (Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, Police Quest, King's Quest, etc) and backtracking
Shadow of the Colossus is boss fights + horseback riding
Ico has tons of walking
Silent Hill has tons of walking
Shenmue 2 has tons of walking
But none of those are "movie games".
But
>The Last of Us has walking
>God of War has walking
Oh shit! THOSE are movie games now!
