ODST 2 when?

ODST 2 when?

Would you really want it when 343i would be the ones making it?

hopefully if they ever remaster 3 they will remaster odst along with it

Let's bet on how 343i can ruin ODST 2.

I sure hope not. Remasters are shit, halo 3 looks fine as is.

Buck! Use ground pound!

They already did.
>killed the Rookie
>Mickey joined the people that killed Rookie
>Dutch retired
>Buck is a Spartan

anniversary was dreadful but they did a genuine good job with 2. and a remaster of 3 would bring a lot of people back to halo. but 343 needs to add reach to mcc right the fuck now

I agree on Reach. ODST firefight too. Bring all the old experiences to MCC then port to PC.

After that all hands on deck for future titles.

Ok let’s first set our foundation for the rest of the game with MASSIVE disappointment
>ODST troops are actually robots and not humans

There was nothing wrong with the Rookie dying and the only reason people are mad about it is because they want shit to bitch about or are just assmad he's dead

>character wasn't being used for anything narratively
>Character doesn't have many unique attributes
>as such killing character off means nothing is really lost
>character also would have been even less special with the introduction of SIV's
>can always make new media set when he was still alive

I bet you don't even know there's an entire short story featuring him in Evolutions you faggot

CEA was fine aside from 343 guilty spark

>Rookie’s death
If anything, I took it as a metaphor for how expendable all the other soldiers in the UNSC were. Made Chief seem more mythical like.

I wouldn't say that in regards to The Rookie in particular, but yes, war being shitty and people dying as a result has been a major themes in the halo books for ages. not everybody gets a glorious death

Name one good thing that came from killing him off.

Reach doesn't deserve the hate.

Rookie dying wasn't the worst part. It's how his team was written handling his death and getting needlessly splintered to force some impact onto his death.

>caring about the story in a shooter game
If Master Chief died and was replaced between every main series game, it literally wouldn't matter. Why are storyfags so cancer? When did this shit start?

>character wasn't being used for anything narratively
>I bet you don't even know there's an entire short story featuring him

It would be interesting if they actually made the protagonist fully human and vulnerable (no shields, no useful melee, can't use certain weapons, slower, no vehicle hijacking, needs to aim more) to mix up the gameplay. Put more emphasis on stealth and squad positioning. If done well it could be a compelling experience in its own right that also makes the other Halo games richer by comparison by letting you directly compare a normal dude to a super soldier. It would also make you feel like a total badass whenever you actually manage to take down an Elite or Brute, instead of them being standard goons as in ODST 1.

>ODST is robots
I hate that I can actually see this happening
It should be the grand reveal at the end though, not beginning. Because 343 would try to force some kind of meaning into it.
>fight through entire campaign
>with squad leader’s last dying breath:
>”oh yeah... [Player 1], btw my dude... that secret we alluded to in a cut scene... and never followed up on....”
>SAAAAAAARGE NOOOOOOOOO
>”yo stfu an listen... dogg, you a robot lol”
>*dies*
>camera zooms out from space, pans around into space
>and for some fuckin reason we see the pillar of autumn (?)

ODST are now Spartan IV

Oh wait...

>be Microsoft
>own one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time
>huge fan demand for sequels and spin offs

>spend the next decade making two half-arsed attempts and polishing old games because Microsoft has no idea what to do.

Why are they so incompetent. I'd be throwing my wallet at them if they could make a decent game.

>be professional artist
>get paid to dream up whatever you want
>don’t
and here I was always taught that plagiarism is bad

yes, it does. in fact there are too many apologists around here that were still babbies during this

Here's a take: a proper ODST game can not be made in the same engine and playstyle as mainline Halo games. You cannot simply change some walk speeds and jump heights around and call it a day.
In order to capture the feeling of being an unaugmented human special forces soldier up against a neverending horde of vicious alien conquerors, you would have to essentially make a tactical shooter, possibly even a cover-based TPS.
You'd have to get change out the psuedo-cartoonish vibe Halo has always had, and really kick up the milsci-fi tone. Best bet for inspiration would be the Eric Nylund Halo books.
Base it around squad mechanics and dealing with physically and numerically superior Covenant forces through tactics and teamwork. Similar to Ghost Recon, or the Rainbow Six Vegas games.

>bungie changes the walk speed, jump height, damage, and health bar.
>you just can't do that!

I want a br mode that lets me drop feet first into hell.

He right

The narrative utility from his death inside the book itself.

Name a single thing we lost out on or he was being used for by him dying.

See, THIS I agree with to an extent, but the death itself isn't a problem

Yes, that short story was written like 5 years prior to his death being written, and that short story could have been made after since it took place during the covenant war

Which is the entire deal: The Rookie, in an era with SIV's, is completely ordinary. Even if he became an SIV, he'd just be one nameless SIV among hundreds, and he'd lose the ONE element that made him cool, which is that he's a badass despite being a normal human

THere's no point in keeping him around. ANy interesting shit that they could do with him they could still doi because it'd take place before the events after Halo 3 anyways before he died.

people bitching about how little MC was in 5 made 343 and MS scared and they've said every halo game has to feature cheif from now on.

So blame chieffags.

lol no. It should be Halo's classic game play minus super abilities. Pretty much what ODST was but no turret ripping off.

Just make a tweaked COD reskin desu

>people bitching about how little MC was in 5 made 343 and MS scared and they've said every halo game has to feature cheif from now on.
Lmao they said the same about Halo 2 and the next two Halo games after 3 didn't even feature the MC.

ODST was basically halo 3 map pack.

>not the Halo 2 map pack
>the one we got on a cd

Blatant superhero nonsense

ODST was literally meant to be a $30 expansion that got sold to us for $60 because Microsoft forced bungie to pass it off as a full game. It effectively was a map pack though because it came with the entire halo 3 multiplayer and a few brand new maps as well.

The new blood and bad blood novels

>t. never actually played ODST
The irony in this post... you don’t happen to work for 343i?

Halo ODST was not sold for $60. Nice revisionist history there, but you’re delusional.

so how long will the campaign be this time?
31 minutes? 32 minutes???
My favorite part about odst 1 was how i paid 60$ for a campaign by the legendary masters of storytelling and fps shooter bungie and it was only 30 minutes long
simply amazing!

He is correct.

Cool
