What would your perfect zombie survival game be like?
What would your perfect zombie survival game be like?
Re2 remake faggot
outbreak 1 and 2 in REmake 1 style
don't ever post in my thread again what the fuck
like 28 days later but with elements of 28 days later
Re4
smash TV mixed with the binding of isaac mixed with L4D2
Wut
me have big gun and shoot zombie and kill many zombie :)
Resident Evil 2 remake is my perfect survival horror zombie game. Literally zero flaws, a masterpiece and I doubt any game will ever be as good in the future so I am satisfied.
One where the zombies are actually commies.
Need for Speed meets The Sims, meets Total War.
RE2
Dead Rising
Left 4 Dead
House of the Dead
Dying Light
Last of Us
Theres really a zombie game for just about anyone
Go fuck yourself, it is literally the perfect zombie survival game
>zero flaws
Listen I love the game but you dont need to lie
>Literally zero flaws
crap shoot whether zombies will grab you, zombies take too many headshots relative to all other RE games
Vietnam but with zombies.
The dayz mod was perfect
>outbreak 1 and 2 in REmake 1 style
it would be literally perfect, but at this point I'll take any new version of outbreak that doesn't play like 4-6
already got RE4
He's right you know
>vietcong and burgers get wiped out by fucking zombies
>both sides blame each other and send more fuckers to their doom
Stupid fucking retard
Siren-esque game where the zombies are relentlessly hunting you and you have no weapons
Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?
i am legend style.
there are no waves or sieges if you don't fuck up. you have all day to scavange with impunity, but resources never respawn. and zombies drop nothing if you do fight one, and a siege is almost a gaunteed wipe.
>perfect zombie survival game
>zombies take 20 shots to the head
>zombies can successfully grab you from 10 feet away
>always enter a 10 second long cinematic when you do
>meleeing zombies is literally pointless
>game just gives you "get out of jail free" cards
You might as well get used to the idea RE2make gameplay is here to stay. Its saved RE with 4 and sold loads with RE2R
Dying Light is unironically closer to an actual zombie survival game than your hallway navigation piece of shit simulator. Imagine thinking a linear game like RE2 could be consider true "survival"
> too many headshots
uhhhhhh.... hello???!1 they are fucking zombies asshole!
>RE2 Remake but you can explore all of Raccoon
>the scenarios from Outbreak are special routes that can give you a different ending
>if you don't want to end the game that way you just help out survivors and get cut off from following them into the scenario
>some houses can be explored and turned into safe locations if you barricade every window
>roaming Tyrants
Sell me on Dying Light, Yea Forums.
>Dying light
bro lmfao. sure it's a good game if you think the main character is spiderman, what the fuck idiot
i dropped it halfway through the game. it fucking sucks, don't play it
based and redfild
So is your mother since she seems to have eaten your brain at birth.
ok, now this is EPIC XD
put me in the screenshot!
Project Zomboid but with a first person perspective. All the hardcore elements but Romero style slow zombies. And no, I don't want stupid special infected from Dying Light.
>t. fat beluga whale who can't run for shit
did you mean for one of these to be weeks?
dying light mixed with 7 days to die and fall out 3
cringe
Holy shit these bants are top shelf
I don't mind the over the shoulder camera too much, I think static camera angles are better for these types of games, but I mainly just don't like the mechanics of those games for RE. enemies dropping ammo and healing, the context sensitive melee attacks that are ridiculously OP, the added movement options, qtes. all that stuff conflicts with the main idea of survival horror if you ask me.
all that said the camera angles perfectly complimented the outbreak games. being able to easily loose track of enemies, not being sure what's around the corner till you're already there, all that good stuff. it's a great example of a game being more than the sum of its parts.
Skyrim, but with zombies, obviously.
easily lose track of allies*
also that played into not being able to form solid plans with people in-game. some might try to scavenge when others run on ahead.
re2 remake was the perfect one. i want them to make a sequel, maybe reimagine re1 too.
basically re2 remake without Mr. X
no im just saying i want a game that's basically just 28 days later with nothing else to it no silly gimicks attached just a game that's like 28 days later
Will never be made because I want it in a large city where every building is unique and functions like a dungeons you would need to clear out for supplies or you can fortify as a base. And I don't mean some level up bullshit where you get a magic steel wall with barbed wire spawned out of nowhere. I mean basic shit like putting planks on windows and doors. Forts should serve as temporary hold outs or mini base camps that you scatter around the city to make your travel from Point A to Point B easier. There's a multiplayer component, but outside of large scale events, at most there are 8 people in a server and they're all scattered across the city. Movement would be similar to RE6's mechanics where you can run, slide, dive, roll and jump over waist high obstacles effortlessly. I would add in some platforming elements to make parkour and scaling some buildings possible so running away from a horde via roof tops is possible similar to Dying Light, but minus the grappling hook (as cool as it is, that shit ruined the parkour system of the game). Gunplay and Melee would be slow and sluggish in general to discourage large scale combat. The best I would describe it is RE6 Mercenaries No Mercy Mode, except you're not fully loaded and ammunition doesn't drop from enemies. None of the above matters if the city design isn't top notch though. There needs to be enough variation in the buildings and city layout to make them worth exploring. The small office building might not look like much but there might be a vending machine you can jack for food and drinks. The church might be a good hide out spot and get you a decent view of your surrounding neighborhood. The apartment are a death trap but who knows what sort of shit you can find. You found intel during one of your searches that one of the skyscrappers has a boat load of supplies at the top floor, but you have to fight your way to the top.
That's my stupid idea
A game that starts out promising but quickly turns retarded with its over the top bullshit and dumb leveling up mechanics. It also features a completely unlikable cast of characters. I would have liked it better if it grounded itself a little more, but the game had more interest in being a ninja simulator than a zombie game.
REmake 2
No, I'm serious. Fuck cynical Yea Forums. It was fucking spectacular and captured all my childhood PTSD. Maybe i have nostalgia goggles on but fuck it, idc, it was great.
Dead rising 2 except everything is touched up and you can bang the twins and rebecca at the same time. They also survive.
Project Zomboid levels of granularity combined with Dwarf Fortress levels of simulation presented with modern graphics fidelity.
I may as well be asking for a holodeck.
CDDA is sorta like that
if they ever get around to 3d buildings not being in beta
Dying Light except the guns aren't pointless to use but still keep the consequence of making a lot of noise
Project Zomboid but not fucking trash
Really good moment to moment gameplay loop. You can disregard most of the story.
DayZ was barely even a zombie game. It was more like a BR game before BR was a thing with a few ineffective zombies that everyone ignored.
>mod about zombies
>zombies are janky broken shit that nobody cares about
>gets a full game
>2000 years later and zombies are still janky broken shit that nobody cares about
hardly a fucking zombie game.
project zomboid
this but better
It's still a pretty dumb way to put it, user. Sorry.
All these dummies saying RE2 even though RE3 is the true zombie survival game.
Very little ammo, slow zombies, base building. The zombies would be more of a force of nature than an enemy. A horde would come and go like a tide and you would have to either hide, retreat into your safe area, which you might have built yourself or run away.
You would scavenge when there are no hordes around and you might have to deal with individual zombies or small groups. Fighting might not be a good option, but you should have other means to survive encounters, such as locking zombies in rooms so you can search areas in peace. Multiple zombies pressing against doors could break doors down, but it depends a lot on the door.
Zombies mainly find you via hearing or sight, but their's is worse than human's. Gunfire attracts zombies and suppressors don't really remove the problem, just makes the range they can hear from much smaller and giving them more trouble finding your exact location. Zombies usually stand still and don't make much noise when not moving, you can mostly hear their footsteps and they only moan when they are very close to you when they are preparing to bite into you. Any random sound makes them roam. A cry of a raven might bring zombies out of buildings in to the street, for example.
Zombies themselves aren't that tough alone, but a single bite is enough to kill you if you don't have enough medical supplies to fight off an infection. A zombie that manages to sneak up on you from behind would most likely kill you by itself and while you can fight off a single zombie attacking you from the front or from the side, two at the same time would most often overpower you. You could deal with individual zombies easily enough with melee weapons, although the effectiveness depends on the weapon and fighting several zombies in row would tire you. Kicking would be very effective for making some space and knocking down zombies, you might even be able to kick a zombie down and run over it if you have no other option.
No special zombies.
Project Zomboid
No unnecessary features, basically RE2 remake with a different story about crossing the US to a safe zone or something.
Tell me about State of Decay.
its fun
boring janky shit, at least the first one is
Yeah, but first person and finished.
okay so basically there are a bunch of lil loli zombies but instead of trying to feast upon your brain they want to devour your peepee and the objective is to kill them all but the only way to kill them is to ejaculate inside of them in an asexual manner
Death road to Canada.
Stubbs The Zombie 2
nothing. Stop making fucking zombie games.
Zombies should be killed by headshots, moron. Also, not complaining about the game. The game is great.
Kinda like Dying Light but without the stupid rpg elements. Level 1 knife takes 20 hits to kill one zombie and good knife instakills. That kind of shit
What crap shoot? If you still didn't figure out their range and behavior, that's just you being shit at the game. Headshots are pretty ridiculous, but that's unfortunately necessary for the game to work. There are no large zombie hordes and handgun bullets doing the damage they should would make shotgun and magnum basically useless.
I had fun with it alone, but try playing it co-op. It gets a little less exciting later on though once you've leveled up and have the grappling hook that completely breaks the game. Getting chased in the slums at night early on was intense
That just sounds like The Last of Us
Unironically State of Decay 2
>perma death
>resources management
>special zombies
>have to find cure if you get infected
>can recruited survivors
>stat building per character
>scavenging is tense as hell
The Last of Us is a faggot ass game with boring, uninspired characters. The game is masquerading as a game with anything but a shallow story put together by a team of hacks who write the stories for every other AAA videogame that includes a multiracial group of people fighting against some sort of ruthless, tyrant government, a black character that always has afrocentric hair and is a poor representation of those they seek to cater to, the same story being told of some white dude escorting his son, bitch, kid or some other form of weaker-being to safety because they are the key to saving society, and this is exposition is only given to you in $20,000 cutscenes because story writers believe that the best way to grab a viewers attention is through uninspired CGI 5 minute videos that take you out of the game and force you to watch the story that you're not interested in. The Last of Us represents the loss of culture and inspiration earlier games and gaming in general possessed. Through taking away control from the player and instead forcing us to watch the vision people we couldn't give a fuck about created for their profits.
DayZ but singleplayer, good AI, NPC interaction and more customization.
>scavenging is tense as hell
I never felt for one second tension in that game. The horde amount was laughable.
lol no
just no
First person crafty building sandbox set in medieval times, town resource management similar to banished, npcs you can assign roles, every winter brings a horde similar to 7 days to die. Plan and build bases to withstand the siege/route hordes of brainless wights through kill rooms and gate houses. Instead of just zombies, have wights/liches. Melee combat similar to chivalry.
like the new Metro, except not bad
I started playing it again after almost a year, and the very first place I went to scavenge nearly killed my best player. They wouldn't stop coming and I was running dangerous low on health and ammo.
RE 6 Leon campaign locales (no catacombs and not Shanghai gets turned into a proper metropolis) with RE 2 gameplay and controls.
Remake 2 gameplay was nigh perfect. The problems with it like in scenario design being cheap with Hunk, DLC, and B runs. It is everything I wanted from the A scenarios though. Better than the original A scenarios in every area but soundtrack.
Zombie panic Source
So left 4 Dead then
>being cheap with Hunk
stop with the crazy talk
The last of us on a map the size of FUEL.
Oh it's this autism again. It's a decent game, while not as good as a lot of people claim it is it does what it sets out to do pretty well. Being overrated doesn't make something bad, but this game existing just triggers the fuck out of a lot of people here it seems
They fucked up the scenarios tho, original had much more content in that regard. Great remake tho
Story mode with leveling and equipment (current day, with some scifi shit like military weaponry)
local and network co-op with the same as above, if you earn dupes you can exchange for XP or some kind of currency, but is completely optional.
a second mode where start naked at level 1 with up to 4 others and have to use OSP to find equipment, XP earned here is used to level your weapons and equipment OR your characters stats in general.
You can edit up to 7 base stages and create your own (massive, medium or small) map and place your own drops and "just for fun mode" where you can edit everything like number of XP earned, weapons stats and drops, rates, types of enemies.
some vehicle usage like trucks, cars and tanks, but those go by rarity which you can edit in your base's garage, BASE BUILDING and some more but I hit a block...
>Being cheap with Hunk
There wasn't any real way to expand that scenario. What he had was fine as is. DLC is fine as is for being free as well id say the big fault here is not having Extreme Battle in really. B Runs I agree with though
...
If we're just dreaming, probably DayZ but functional and in the hands of competent developers. Maybe with an even larger map like what they did in Atlas.
>inventory management in 2019
>keys take as much space as a shotgun
>no dodge or roll so avoiding enemies is impossible
>dumb af puzzles
>giant enemy guy can't even run, just walks behind you
>backtracking in 2019
If you REMAKE a game, remake it right. They ditched the fixed camera angles but not the rest. Play Re4 if you want a real re game. Kys.
Penumbra: Black Plague
One that doesn't exist!
Fuck zombie games! They're COD of "horror" genre. It's like gaming devs can't come up with anything other than them or nazis.
sauce?
Puzzle game with zombies
a choose your own adventure.
>survival
It's not a perfect zombie game if I have to be a weak ass bitch the whole time
You know The Division?
That but zombies.
This is the bezt "zombie" game that ever was, prove me wrong.
Dying Light but you never get the retarded grappling hook and the night zombies actually stay threatening once you have a gun. Also add some kind of mechanic that makes you actually care about getting zombie cure™
playing as a zombie herd leader
This was an opportunity to expand what he had. Faithfulness is a cheap excuse for laziness. The same goes for the DLC and it being free.
Great game, but those aren't zombies, user.
That grappling hook is fun, but it breaks the fuck out of that game.
Also, not sure how you remember it, but a gun doesn't do shit against the night zombies. Maybe a shotgun, but there's barely any ammo for it, and since they always attack you in groups, the only weapon that's actually effective against them is an endgame longsword. Nothing else kills them fast enough before the next one gets to you.
I don’t mind outbreak that plays like remake 2
Free Roam
Randomized
Leveling
Difficulty increases over time (Zombie stats and number)
Crafting, looting, basebuilding
Physics, physics based fighting as well
Online if desired
Vehicles
Injuries, Illnesses
Special enemy types, resistances
Probably more
What is zombie?
>this in turn leads to more waves of undead in the most comfy setting possible
I want medieval fantasy zombie survival game.
A game like the walking dead tv show. Where zombies are just peripherally involved and people are the main concern.
You fucking ingrate. You wanna see Hunk's scenario expanded? You wanna play as him walking through empty corridors and sneaking inside a vent waiting for the rest of his team to get into position? You wanna be able to shoot Birkin yourself with the help of a QTE? You wanna engage in a Temple Run like chase sequence with Birkin, just like the fucking Alligator which they ruined by doing exactly that. What about Ada, I bet you want her side of the story to be expanded to huh? Wanna play as Ada being a stupid slut spy looking for clues before the town goes to shit? We both know that bitch was most likely taking dick instead of doing her job as a spy. Fuck you, what you see is what you get.
It's fun, actually does first person parkour well, has a decent levelling system where you do feel more powerful as you progress and has nights that can actually be scary (until you get powerful enough to fight through them)
Also the expansion is an actual expansion that gives you a buggy and a big ole map to drive it in
the story is nothing interesting but the expansion has its moments
If you're gonna get it get the following with it
Voodoo Squad: the video game.
God I miss peak Dying Light times game was and still is KINO
Going to save this copypasta for samefagging when I do my usual complaint about Hunk.
Be my guest.
Dead State but with the lefty propaganda and some of the more cringeworthy characters removed.
my brain just turned 360 and walked away
Stalker but with zombies.
This, but with less gamey shit and co-op. Also actually good gunplay.
Best example of decent TPS/FPS hybrid gunplay I can think of is GTA V, so that, the movement could be a bit less floaty. Survival mechanics like SCUM, base building/recruiting and missions like State of decay, but actually fun not tedious shit. Also the zombies should be more Walking dead and less L4D. You should be punished for not planning ahead and making dumb on the spot decisions instead of running into a bunch of superzombies.
All of that in co-op would be awesome.
state of decay but good
single player, action rpg akin to mount and blade
survival mechanics, eating, drinking sleeping, fucking, enough to be immersed but not so much it gets annoying.
Medievil dark fantasy setting, swords, poleaxes, crossbows and the like.
great artstyle, very gritty and realistic, lots of gore. this is also implemented properly in the fighting style. i .e if you cut of a zombies leg he falls down and crawls etc.
Big open World with different biomes, woods, lakes, mines, cities and villages etc. hordes roaming around the lands. lots to explore, no pointers/markers but a journal system, fastravel only with carriages and boats from bigger cities or on rivers. pretty and serene on the day, scary but beautiful at night. changing seasons and weather.
focus on world building and lore, not a shitty saturday morning tier "story", you are not the chosen one.
armor, weapons and characters are greatly customizable while still feeling like part of the world.
different factions and communities, all with different motives and ways of survival, guilds and factions you can choose. you can not be the guildmaster of every guild and choices have consequences. a world that feels alive.
you can build and manage your own community, they provide you with services if you protect them, this is optional. you could also just build yourself a hideout and raid tradingposts with bandits (kenshi/mount and blade style) or you could live as a hermit in the woods.
Dead State is so laughable in it's animations that I can't suspend my disbelief anymore. It's a shame but no big surprise the dev abandoned it for some visual novel.
Define 'good'
100% correct gore physics and a metric fuckton of guns.
Less gameplay templates that are devoid of any character and are factory tier repeatable, where your choices don't matter at all, whether you live or die you are replaceable and forgettable. The sacrifice for variety and replayability in the tasks given within the gameplay removed all individuality, character or consequence of any kind within said setting and world that they want me to heavily suspend my disbelief in. It didn't matter how I play whatsoever and every action I took was constantly parroted to me as if it was written by a 1st year programmer- If player bring Item then play soundclip #3, over and over etc. There was no investment in the story either because everyone is replaceable and there is no growth, playing the first game was like clocking in your time in a menial job factory.
And btw I've only died once after 30 hours with the main character, because it was so bland that this guy could disappear forever and nobody would even notice or care in the community I helped build, not even your best friend from the boat in the beginning and vice-versa. And now that it's been made multiplayer int he second game, and the added factor of windows 10 obligation - I couldn't be bothered at all.
Death Road to Canada is my favorite. Zombies are slow and dumb but are still dangerous, instead of getting directly attacked you get a little time to wiggle free of a zombie hoard, there's a clear goal and you're always moving forward, random generation constantly fucks you over, dog companions and fun survivor interactions, etc.
It's a pretty simply game but I like it a lot.
>hurr durr i never played original RE2
well its never too late to download an emulator and the RE2 rom.
Zombies are extremely tough and supplies are extremely low. A lot of focus on exploration and things like base building. More of a simulation than anything else.
ZombiU was pretty fucking close. If it had a bigger world and more emphasis on survival gameplay it'd be my favorite zombie game.
Resident evil 2's gameplay but with resident evil 4 new game plus
7 days to die does a lot of things right but the dev insists on breaking the game and corrupting your saves every patch he releases.
i enjoyed it, though when you first fight the Demolisher, getting gud at dodging was a bitch, but fun.
plus, climbing towers and scaffolding is pretty intense at times
Cataclysm DDA's crafting, RPG mechanics, and interactivity plus Dying Light's combat and traversal. I want to build a cozy hideout on top of a building and then burn the whole thing down before riding away on my motorized tricycle.
Pretty much Project Zomboid as a 3D FPS.
This War of Mine but with zombies
trash game, trash dev
>inb4 muh amnesia
take your penumbra, its shitty gameplay, along with your walking simulator and go die
I like the idea of a co-op fps with zombies. You play with 3-4 other players to complete various objectives but with infected that are fast and dangerous and respond to sound quickly. Like a spec ops unit that gets sent to extract HVTs and data and shit. I actually had a mockup I did in UE4 with free assets at one point. My idea was to have 5 distinct classes that did different things, clearing out tunnels and houses because carefully. I added a FUCKTON of volumetric fog and made some trash pile objects emit sound that the AI would react to, but I deleted the whole thing because I got super depressed. I kinda want to try again tho
Dead Frontier but good. There's just something magical about walking alone down a dark, gory suburb street killing straggler zombies and looting what you can, then running into another player getting killed by a horde of zombies and not helping him because there's simply too many. Then going back to a comfy hideout with guard NPCs shooting zombies that get too close, and occasional zombie raids attack hideouts and can take them over if players don't help.
niggers lol
What I imagined when I first heard about the new Walking Dead game. Think Phantom Pain's multiplayer but centered around zombie safezones.
>You build and maintain your safezone with a number of AI survivors
>You bolster your population and resources by sending survivors out to missions of varying difficulty and danger
>Over time, you can upgrade your base with a number of automatic resource breeders, such as farms for food or metalworks for bullets and scrap to repair
>Maybe a loose story told through missions
>However the game is always online, and other players are doing the same thing you're doing
>Players can sneak into your base and steal your resources, or kill your NPCs
>If caught you can enter into wars with them
>Otherwise you can enter into agreements where you can exchange resources
Having some kind of dangerous trust/suspicion mechanic between hideouts would have been pretty neat, but as I understand it the final game is nothing like this
