If you like DMC5's demo, go back and give DMC3 a try. It feels very similar.
I think the reason DMC5 feels so good is because it has very low gravity and jump cancelling is ridiculously easy. It makes it so you can do jump cancel combos without having to set yourself up with some pre-canned combo so you land in just the right spot for Rainstorm or something - you can just come up with stuff on the fly. Makes it fun for anyone to get in and start screwing around with rudimentary JC combos. I'm having the most fun with DMC5's demo out of all the games' combat. The game is probably gonna be my favorite on this fact alone.

Lady would be completely pointless given how Dante already has a massively upgraded Gunslinger and uses Kalina Ann 2, and Trish would be mostly pointless since Dante already has Sparda and Balrog adapts a lot of Bare Knuckle. Vergil just having Beowulf and Force Edge could be forgiven in 4SE because it was done on a shoestring budget after heavy losses for Dev 1 during the outsourcing years, but when (not if) they come to 5 as paid DLC I want some actual fucking reworks to them and not just the exact same characters I can already play.

generally speaking, if a consumer is informed enough to wait for the special edition, they're informed enough to understand when something is bullshit.
As far generating more boycott is concerned, the handling of "no alternate costumes unless you buy immediately" was about the worst way it could be done.

My own personal take on how DMC5 is going to play out is a less successful version of RE2make. There'll be an initial spasm of overwhelming praise, followed by "it was good, but...", then culminating into a pretty disparaging range between "Even [past game] was better" and "Surpasses everything that came before it". It won't be as impressive and vocal due to this game still just being for weirdos, but it's going to be that much more painful when the flaws start to get sifted out post honeymoon.

Also that Lucia has a crush on him and Matier tells him he's horrible for getting her hopes up and leaving her without even one special night.

Except this isn't a good thing. I didn't want to share big boss' legacy. He was a fucking war criminal and a monster, but we never got to see that side of him truly depicted.

It was truly one of the biggest cases of blue balls in video game history.

If most missions have unique boss fights and no backtracking, I'll be fine. It's not like content was DMC's strong point. Both DMC1 and DMC3 also suffered from this. DMC1 has some really short missions and some really bad ones like underwater swimming and Griffon 2. DMC3 had Leviathan, Mission 14, Mission 15 and Arkham.

How is ranking calculated? I got hit a bunch, got an A on the first of three fights (ASS on the ranking screen) and only got Speed Clear B but still managed to get an S rank at the very end. I did use breakage moves as often as possible on Goliath, so maybe that did it. I just thought getting S ranks in all fights was a requirement.

S rank requirement in the demo is heavily lowered due to majority of the mission being cut out and them intentionally making it easier after Gamescom so that more people feel good getting it.
As it is in the demo, you need a minimum of 5.5k Style Points at the end to get an S.
The style points shown after each encounter is your average for the whole mission, not for that individual encounter.

Basically, I'm playing the game on normal, getting my ass somewhat handled to me (being rusty, new combat system, being a scrub, etc.). Go through two secret missions (limited hits and enemy step ones) with some effort, get to the "your Witch Time is disabled oh no!". Beat it first try with a minute to spare.

for better or worse, the hardest difficulty actually disables witch time which might make it more enjoyable than abusing the slow mo.

V's is simply a long recovery. This is an actual stun state, kinda like the one in Monster Hunter.

The most obvious callback would be the Proto Angelos using the Warrior moveset.

Haven't really heard much but it sems you can set which enemies to summon and whether they can attack or just stand still.

I'm assuming they meant the alternate routes. V does take a bit of inspiration with how he uses the demon summons and how the attacks look.

I would lower that estimate a bit. It would probably be only 10-12 hours. That estimate is most likely for people who aren't familiar with DMC. I might be wrong but I'm guessing after people managed to finish one route of RE2make in 7 hours after the devs said it would take 10.

Why is there a button specifically mapped to (UNUSED) that you cant just take off? I want to put break away on R2 and gun on L1 but I cant because (UNUSED) needs to be binded to something even when it doesnt do anything. Did nobody think of this? I hope this weird oversight gets fixed
