this always cracks me up, Gen 5 was criticized for being different and trying new things while being shat on because you couldn't catch a pidgey or zubat like previous gens despite offering a lot of good features. Not really. Literally every town or second route has the control happen away for champion/rival/call/plasma/legendary/gym leader talk time. Even worse in the sequels

Still my favorites to this day. Plasma taking over the league, leading up to a final battle between the two legendaries was genius and hype as fuck.

Fuck you, I loved Gen 5 from the day it was released, and Red was my first game.

Gen 6 for sure, but Gen 7 did a few things right. It felt a little fresh, at least, but the distribution of the new Pokemon was all over the fucking place. I don't know why half of them had like sub 5% encounter rates.

This and HGSS were some of my first real Pokémon games when I was younger. I remember playing some of Yellow on an old Gameboy Color but that unfortunately broke down. I had an absolute blast playing those two but I mostly just grinded my Typholsion to level 100 and stomped the shit out of everything while keeping Legendaries as HM slaves in HGSS whereas in BW I actually decided to train more Pokémon other than my starter.
