Strap an open source license on it and since MUGEN is dead it might be a possible modern replacement for it. But of course it will take a while before it will be a serious contender.
I'm looking for something semi "productive" to do with the free time I have and it's been a while since I've seen someone attempt a Yea Forums collab project. Of course most of the project ideas on here die pretty quickly, so I suspect most anons being skeptical about this coming to fruition. BUT FEAR NOT, I will solo carry this if I must till there is at least a playable single player arcade mode.
Anyway the game will be created in the Godot using mainly GDscript because it's a pretty clean high level code.

I made a small beginning with a moveable wojak that can punsh, sprite is obviously a placeholder, will post a webm of it below. You can download and run it if you have the Godot engine installed.

Why would you make an engine from scratch instead of using MUGEN? It will take you 3 years at minimum just to do what MUGEN already did years ago, you're far better off learning how to make characters. If you know your stuff you can do some pretty interesting things with it, MUGEN is actually quite powerful.

OP here, stop being so overly dramatic. I understand you want to differentiate yourself by hating on wojak, but that feel posting on /fit/ was gold back in the day and the wojak spin offs aren't bad. I understand now that they've reached mass appeal that they aren't the same anymore. The same happened with epic fail guy and rage comics, they got popular and thus cringe. But still Wojak and it's spin offs play a huge part in contemporary board culture. The character roster should contain old and new memes, it's a fighting game you can fight the memes you don't like. Isn't it better if a fighting game has characters you hate?

I'm not creating an engine from scratch, I'm using Godot. I'm not using MUGEN because I'm not that familiar with it and development seems dead. Also I like programming and using Godot allows for greater freedom.

Story mode is about you (Anonymous) unlocking the board tans by fighting them,with moot as the final boss.There would be different areas for different tans and some themed battles(like spirit battles in smash) along the way for memes like wojak who don’t deserve full characters.Some ideas for the locals are.

If we're doing board reps then I think the /x/ cat should be the rep of /x/, since it was the first image you would see upon entering the board, and think of the moveset the cat can have. /x/'s board tan honestly looks a bit too Homestuck-ish.
