Mercedes from Dragon's Dogma. She's a knight that leads troops but nobody gives her respect. Her ineptitude is a running gag throughout the game but her backstory and handful of character/story moments make her very endearing. Her father only sends her to Gransys when requested following the Dragon's appearance because he doesn't want any of his sons to be in danger and (correctly) assumes that nobody will take his daughter seriously enough to put her in danger. The only person other than the player who has any respect for her at all is the guy who shatters her worldview because nobody else even bothered to tell her she's in over her head.

Alright I'll call this the final version. I do like Pauline's character but if I really think about it I'm mostly projecting what I like about the idea of her character in Odyssey onto her, and she is in the same ballpark as just being a waifu pick.
