If the upwarp is solved yes

Inb4 gamma Ray tards

It did get solved I thought

>play on wii virtual console instead of actual hardware
Partial credit doesn't cut it.

wasnt that solved?

soon...

once people stop doing stupid shit

Not that I know of

I mean, a variant of Mario 64 is beatable. A C+ is still passing.

Attached: 0.png (1027x719, 1.29M)

Does this factor in the half-presses though? Eliminating every A Press would leave him still needing to find some new way of performing the Stars that need a half-press currently.

>certain tricks only work on original hardware
>certain tricks only work on original Japanese hardware
>lol just use wii VC
you disgust me

So how many years of straight play does it take to finish the game like this?

What about the iQue version?

Well he could have the a button already compressed before the game starts

That would still ultimately count as a singular A press for a full run.

Ticktock clock really fucks the whole operation up, huh?

Attached: luigi.png (522x422, 136K)

There's nothing beneficial in iQue. It's got the most bugfixes in fact.

just finish the run with it held down

pull what off?

3 of those TTC ones have been solved, btw.

There's only 3 half presses left anyway, so there's barely even a need for the notation anymore.

It's just the infamous Rolling Rocks one and getting the Red/100 coins stars in Dire Dire Docks.

the guy OP is referring to is trying to beat Mario 64 without pressing the A button
you may remember stuff like
>BUILD UP SPEED FOR TWELVE HOURS
>PARALLEL UNIVERSES
>TJ """HENRY""" YOSHI
>SCUTTLEBUG JAMBOREE
from a few years ago

We're actually down to 14 unique presses and 3 half presses.

the mask. if i did, it would be painful

It wasn't

>We

Raising awareness to increase the number of participants.

Getting 0x 70 star seems like it might happen eventually, but i highly doubt 120 0x will ever happen. Wing mario over the rainbow just doesn't have anything in the level to work with other than a wing cap and a pole.

Isn’t the only A press left that pole?

I know who it is panenkoek 2012, but does he really think he can beat the game without jumping even once?

Well, he's only got one A press any% and 14 for 120 stars. Technically he already has done it because it's possible on the Wii Virtual Console version but he's trying to get it on the N64 too because he doesn't consider that legit or whatever.

He just needs to transport into the 5th dimension, where every A press becomes a 1/16 press, then travel through the black hole into the third universe that filters out fractions of A presses, and he'll be done.

They were able to replicate it with hacks, which tells us what happened codewise, but they haven't been able to get it to work without.

WMOTR is also the death of any capless/cannonless runs too. Absolutely cancerous level

I know, user. It still feels like yesterday
I also can't fucking believe 12 hours is dead now since he found a shorter strategy

>half presses

retard, pressing is binary, you either do or you don't, there's no such thing as a "half press"

Half presses are a terminology that is only used in the context of single stars, referring to a press that is made outside of the level starting but still required to get the star. When looking holistically at an entire 70 or 120 star run, you are already counting the whole A press and don't need to split it into the half press

In a 70 star run, yes

Nigger, all of pannen's videos are done on a fucking emulator.

At some between epsilon, -e and e, there is a slope from 0 to 1, so at some infinitesimal time there is in fact a half-press

t. Electrical engineer

Shut the fuck up Henry, you should've learned your lesson by now.

Some point*, also fuck off Tj

That's the point though. Half-presses are terminology for single segments, but if you delete the portion where you'd be pressing A outside that segment, now you'd have to actually press A in that segment. So deleting an A press from one every segment doesn't necessarily finish the challenge, because it would turn the half-presses into full presses.

Half press denotes that the a button needs to be held down from a previous point in the game, pans autism to try and justify it further only confused the issue.

One half of an A-press is "down and hold"
The other half, the half that's referenced in individual segment counts, is "hold and release"

Fuck off Henry you retarded shit for brains.

That's not how it works, you absolute retard.

>started to watch him for the memes
>found genuine interest in his videos
>even for something so small, he puts overflowing passion in his hobby
>watched all his videos, one of the few youtubers I watch their videos as soon as they upload them
Pannen is precious and I'm happy he has an audience.

I hope when the route is complete Pannen would live stream the whole thing. That sounds like a good way to waste some time and witness the TAS do all it's crazy shit live.

This is TJ """Henry""" Yoshi

I love hyper in-depth videos about game mechanics too. I watched a video about Pokemon cries, as in how the cries that Pokemon make are actually programmed; how bugs ended up being features.

There was another bloke called Pikasprey who made a short series called Soft-lock Picking; first working with the community he makes the most fucked game saves possible; then does a David Blaine / Houdini to escape that unwinnable situation.

There was a good one where he releases all his Pokemon and loses all his money in Red/Blue at the final Pokemon centre before the Elite 4; except a Magikarp; then finds a way to win. Kind of Pannokoen levels reached.

Aren't there "build speed for 12 hour" segments?

That's just part of the experience.

>tfw want him to make another commentated video but know that he won't because of the attention he got from the rolling rocks videos.
I don't know to blame his autism or the meme fuckers.

Attached: Sad.jpg (1280x720, 87K)

One day I hope to see an upload that's just titled "super mario 64 0x a presses commentated"

He really is a good guy; he has the potential to be an amazing teacher or something, I've learned an impossible amount of stuff about games in general, just from listening to him ramble about this or that for a few dozen hours.

The meme fuckers.
His was a constructive autism, he was genuinely very knowledgeable and could explain things so that even an idiot like me could understand them.

Yeah, people bending over backwards to try to beat the game in convoluted ways are fun to watch.
Pikasprey has cool videos about that, like beating the games with only ditto and actually going all the way to the elite 4 to prove his methods and he also shows other games. Pannen on the other hand is just crazy deep into mario 64 only. I think I have never seen someone going to the level he is in with all the videos explaining everything in detail.

I've heard that the guy who was playing had his cartridge slightly tilted

There's a better chance that Arbitrary Code Execution will be found than even just a 1x A Press route ever existing. Too many roadblocks would need entirely new tricks to overcome.

Also on the topic of other YouTubers doing wacky shit with vidya, I quite like this one channel called "TheZZAZZGlitch" that focues on Gen 1 Pokemon games.
