From a purely objective standpoint, FFXII is the best FF. This can't be proven wrong. But you can try.

literally plays itself
Its a tie between V and XII.
Objective improvement from the standpoint of sane humans who understand that the braindead "combat" in the previous FF games wasn't gameplay. If it takes no thought, it should play itself.
Probably the best looking PS2 game I've played
Thanks for putting it in such succinct terms. I've always posited that if you dislike XII's combat than you dislike ALL FFs' combat.
Penelo looks worse than I remember, but
>Fullbody spats/one piece suit
Unf. I always enjoyed the game when I was younger. Before I got into PC gaming I was trying to kill Yiazamat when the strongest weapon I had was Ragnarok.
The vanilla release was a bitch when it came to getting the weapons, but holy FUCK was the strategy guide for it top quality. The collector's edition even came with an artbook.
wtf I hate all FFs now???
Sorry, but I like my button presses having an effect.
FFs with bad combat: IX, X, XII, XIII, XV, BCVII, DoCVII, CCVII, XIII-2, Type-0 and WoFF. Even if I enjoyed two of these combats in practice.
the fuck is that face supposed to convey?
you can just, you know, press R1/L1 and input the commands
>program characters to act intelligently
>get mad when you don't have input each command
really, 99% of random battles in most FFs before this were just "mash attack and save MP for boss battles"
Um, pressing the select button with no intractable objects present opens the menu....
Waiting for switch release
Then I'll pirate it
>BCVII
Did you play it? If so how? I've no clue how to emulate a japanese flip phone game.
Such bad taste
butterface
>purely objective
I wish they had experimented with more and expanded on the whole concept of enemy dynamics influencing the flow of battle. You see it in isolated corners of the game; friendly npc units you can fight beside, "friendly" and neutral beasts that won't attack you, beasts that fight each other. But I wish there was a system in place where you could influence things as well, like if you constantly heal an enemy beast, it would eventually change to "friendly" and fight alongside you, as well as later units in that area that fall under the same genus or whatever. But doing so would cause other types of enemies to become even more aggressive. Maybe its too involved and advanced for the game, or most games, but I just remember reading some bullet point back before the game released that made me wish the game had that.
ffxii is good
its not best ff
good, means i can spend less time playing video games and more time shitposting about them
