Do you think we'll ever see a major return to the fast-paced, arcadey style of shooters of old? Most modern shooters seem overly preoccupied with questionable attempts at realism (e.g. aiming down sights, which slows down your movement to a standstill), much to the detriment of fun gameplay if you ask me.
Shooters
old good
>old good
...new bad?
It's not good because its' old. It's good because it's good.
Max Payne isn't that good of a game.
How cinematic.
>calling a much more gamey game cinematic while posting a game with fucking bullettime
Are you for real?

The vast majority of people consider regenerating health and iron sights, as well as other modern innovations like sprint buttons, melee buttons, weapon limits, and separate buttons for grenades/satchels/mines, to be objective improvements. Because by and large that's what they are.
Literally every single FPS game since 2005, including "old school" staples like Serious Sam, have gone in these directions.
Max Payne is actually amazing and surprisingly underappreciated in terms of gameplay. It's basically the best fast paced third person shooter and does something the vast majority of them do not which is make damn near single bullet in the game dodgeable even without iframe abuse.
Sprint button has been a thing since the first Doom game and weapon limits are by no means an improvement in any way. Iron sights are a compromise for consoles. The others sure if you're gonna have melee and nades might as well make them easy to access.
