Makes Hana pale in comparison. All Hana has is dodge tanking and even then it is iffy since she dies in one hit late game.

She is fine, but as you say, she will be outclassed. It's pretty much mandatory to dodge meme her with weapons and such. I think they did it like that because of Hoshido's less drawback on weapons and such. This resulted in Nohr units getting more bulk.
And then you hit revelations and most Nohr units outclass Hoshido.

Awakening is more balanced in the fact that everyone can be broken if you wanted to.
Awakening is fairly poorly designed overall but for a first game I felt like I could honestly use any unit I wanted to which was nice.

That's why I usually recommend Awakening. It eases people into the Fire Emblem gameplay by allowing you to be able to use any unit. There are weaker and stronger, but in general all can be used even in end game without huge drawbacks.
It is also the reason why I actually like Awakening myself. The pair up system made the game easy as hell though.

But we didn't need a new Pokemon. Very few people were clinging to another Pokemon rep, especially with everyone coming back this game

Shilling. For real though, who knows? Sakurai is biased, it’s a low effort way to grab people’s attention, Nintendo forces it in, whatever. Smash is condemned to get a generational rep every game.

He got speed buff. But the issue is everyone's speed got buffed. You also don't have Levin sword from the get go. Most buffs outside of speed are nice, but changes to stronger launch by elfire made a lot of combos not working from sm4sh sadly. Robin is still fun to play.
