You still haven't won yet, have you user?

Played for a few hours straight a week ago until I won a round and haven't touched it since.

this game is getting really fucking hard now that the casuals have moved on, I used to consistently get top 5 and now I often fail before 30

I finally got a win after 80 games. There's still hope for me yet.

>Get gear and guns for 20 minutes
>Some asshole snipes you from the distance
>Game over in a second

i always win
except when i lose

The highest I've ever gotten was 23/100. How do I git gud?

I played it a couple of times on my friend's switch, topped out at 7, is the aiming actually worth using? I always left it at random

I have
the last time was pretty fun, I went to top 10 with almost no badges so I was the target of all of them. Ended up KOing every single one.

I keep getting second to Japs. Shit feels so bad.

just play a LOT, you need to learn pattern recognition and muscle memory more than high-level strategy

When I watch people like Wumbo and Jonas Neubauer play, I lose all hope of ever getting 1st place.

I'm happy I got 5th

I won a couple of times, during my usual play times (Daytime EU) I easily get into top 25. But when I played yeasterday I struggled to get into top 50, was lucky to get into top 5 once or twice.

I only got to 6 a few days ago... How do I get better?

those guys are on another fucking level dude, you don't need to be that good in order to win (unless, obviously, they're your final opponent)

Whether I can get into the top 50 is dependent on how many are targeting me.

I'm also sure Jonas isn't even using 10% of his power when he's playing a non-NES Tetris.

>slightly press down on the left or right arrow of my pro controller's d pad
>registers as an up arrow click and immediately sends the block i'm on down to where i don't want it to go
this has happened every game. i can't win.

I set my target to Attackers every game because I'm paranoid.

What's the advantage of getting badges?

Just play with the joy cons, you literally can't do this with the D-buttons.

I've won like 5 games, but that's only because I sunk like 600 hours into puyo puyo tetris. That shit is addictive.

I definitely recommend joycons for this game, to avoid that problem

1 badge = 25% more lines sent
stacks additively

PC release?

it's published by nintendo, so no

The controls suck and you can't re-map them.
I'd rather just play Tetris Friends on my computer.

I won once, but the game can really fuck you over with no fighting chance. Having 20 people randomly targeting you at the same time, going from not grey blocks to game over in an instant.

remapping would be a good feature, but how would you prefer they be mapped? seems pretty standard to me

Honestly if you don’t have 100% in the top 10 you are going to get fucking smoked

Kinda wish hard drop was set to R to be honest

is it just me or is having badges early on more of a liability than a benefit?

I can rack them up pretty quick if I go full-tilt, but then I just get ganged up on

Can I get some stacking tips? Not really for 99 but in general. Ibfondni always end up in situations where I need an L, J or I block to fill a whole and it all starts to fall apart from there.

I win by default because I don't pay for Nintendo Online

People sometimes set to Badges early to try and take out anyone with a good lead. If you realize that’s why you are getting targeted you can set to Attack and try to bury them quick

Drop should be A, rotate should be up. Hold should be X
Y and B could remain rotate buttons.
Up should never, ever be mapped to drop.

3 times now.

come to think of it, you're right. I think I've adjusted to the controls to the point that I actually prefer the way they are, though. As long as you aren't using the d-pad I have no problem with up being hard-drop.

Can you play it without paying Nintendo access to your own internet?

I've only won once and it was the best feeling ever

not going to
trash br

I'm not good enough to compete with the gods at the top

I only enjoy watching Wumbo play, my IQ is too low for Tetris.

I take a screenshot everytime I got 1st place. 12 or 13 wins so far.

if you take a screenshot every time you win but you don't know the exact amount of wins you have you surely must be full of shit

Managed to get matched to some shitters yesterday and actually won.

It feels like the power gap between "skilled" players and gods like Wumbo is so vast. How do those guys get that good? It seems inhuman.

How is it that boomers who have played Tetris for decades are too dumb to understand t-spins?

These are like "trophies" for me. I don't actually count them because...well, I have them right there, no need to keep that in my head. Also, there is a record on your ingame profile.

I get t-spins but I can't be bothered, to me it is more fun to just stack as fast as possible instead of setting up t-spins

to be fair I am also a brainlet, so that may be part of it

>buying nintendo online
HAHAHA

It defies what they believed about the game.

It's better to create janky towers you can slot pieces around then make a bunch of L-block only solutions. If you don't, you inevitably end up blowing your Line pieces on them because not plugging those gaps puts you at risk of reaching KO range.

Line Pieces are offensive pieces you use to send Tetris fuck yous at people, sometimes 8 at once if you keep one in reserve for a double-line. It's basically the core of offensive tetris - it's your strongest bullet/blade in your arsenal so don't use it to fix shitty mistakes you made earlier, you're wasting your time.

You can spin pieces to stall for time at the end-game. Stalling is not a good habit but it's another situational tool that could be the difference between winning or losing.

You can afford to "rush" and be quick early on to get KOs even if that's not your playstyle later on. The space to correct mistakes is bigger at the start, so even for bad players this is a better strategy than just casually surviving. Set up your Tetris nukes early and you're sorted.

I prefer the more comfy Tetris Effect

but i did, since yesterday

when choosing in which rotation a piece should be laid prioritize horizontal over vertical

because it requires to basically relearn how to tetris. I've tried to explain to some of my irl friends but they can't mentally stop themselves from filling perfectly good t-spin set ups.

Speaking of Tetris Effect, don't you ever get a Tetris effect-like feeling after watching porn and you go to sleep? I mean, instead of seeing blocks drop and stuff don't you see anime designs you've never seen before or JAV actresses that don't exist but are very detailed and beautiful?

I got a win. It was really close but I clutched it out at literally the last line before death.
I even did a t-spin double when I realized I made a setup for it by accident.
Next round I was 85.

I can get top 10 easily but haven't got past 3rd place. I'm honestly missing T-Spins. Should I learn them?

Also how does the combo system work actually? Should I go for double tetrises or not? Especially towards the end when I want to spike a opponent out.

Here's a little story for you
>few years back
>taking speed (amphetamine)
>discover that fapping on speed is crazy addictive
>24hour sessions of fapping kind of addictive
>spend like 2 whole days downloading and watching all kinds of porn, snorting lines
>finally decide to stop the madness
>look outside the window
>the shapes of the leaves kinda look like boobs, asses, naked women
>shapes of clouds look like boobs, asses, naked women
>go to take a shit
>the grain on the wall looks like boobs, asses, naked women
>this lasted like for a full day after coming down
I wouldn't recommend it, but it was sort of fun.

you can get a "tetis effect" phenomenon from any repetitive activity, I think it's especially common in tetris just because it's such a simple and addictive game
