Why would I? Too much of the same. Shitty story, turn based combat, grind, probably several b8 lolis, etc.
If they would take 3 steps out of the stagnant pond they live in, they might evolve.
I'm busy but when I get home I'm playing SMT IV Apocalypse. Just beat Inanna.
Don't forget to kill yer friends, kiddo.
They have shit story, which is really bad in an RPG.
Because DRPGs are superior.
but i am.
dagda
But I am. Just alt-tabbed out of Dark Souls 3.
I can't now because I was too pussy to pick the mean options in dialogue
because they're shit. at least modern ones. cringe dialouge and cringe characters made for derpy manchildren who collect '''figurines'''
>Shitty story
they're better than western games' stories, which typically amount to "orange man bad, it was her turn."
>turn based combat
jrpgs with action-based combat exist.
>grind
if you have to grind in a modern jrpg, you just suck at games.
Reflect on what it means to turn against me as you stare into the cold abyss of death!
Too busy fapping.
But I'm busy with Dankest Dungeon
Does JRPG "inspired" count?
Because you aren't playing them with me and I have little motivation? I don't know what you want from me.
give me a good jrpg i can play on pc and i might.
I am
>Liking animu shit
user please, kill yourself
But I am. Death End re;Quest. I dig it. The girls are cute, too.
Over the years I grown burned out with JRPGs nothing seems to give me that spark anymore.
how far into the game are you? i just finished chapter 6 and it's a lot of fun.
Because most JRPGs are full of anime tropes and I don't like anime. The Souls series, Vagrant Story, games with adult characters are the only ones I can enjoy.
I'm sorry Dagda I just like being nice
why are you on an anime website if you hate anime? maybe plebbit is more your speed.
I am not a pedophile.
Because my vita's charging
I got DQXI off the weekend's Steam sale.
Being censored by Snoy
Just got to chapter 4. I've been fucking around a lot though
How are the waifu?
this is important for a CH game
Nice taste user. Despite going with the fagroute and killing based Dagda.
How is it? Kinda interested in it but I'm pretty sure it's not worth the full price right now.
nice. rizaria forest is my favorite location in the game so far. great atmosphere and great music.
top tier as always.
>giant fucking code lioco forehead
>but those legs and tiddies
Why is God so unfair?
You mean why Toriyama's artstyle is so shit.
it's actually really good. the story seems at first like another one of those generic "isekai'd into an mmorpg" stories that modern anime loves so much, but they put a unique spin on it that prevents it from feeling stale.
the combat system is legitimately one of the most fun i've played in a turn-based jrpg. it combines neptunia's free movement and mary skelter's corruption with a whole bunch of other features, like a billiards-esque knockback system, genre switching (you can change from regular jrpg combat to a fighting game, puzzle game, fps, etc. mid-fight), etc.
fair warning, though - this game is heavy on the virtual novel elements. there's a lot of text. however, they do allow you to save at any point in most cutscenes and come back where you left off. this is important because the vn parts often have choices that either progress the story or lead to a bad ending. the game actually rewards you with items/money for seeing bad endings, so you're going to want to try every choice.
idea factory and compile heart don't have the greatest reputation, but credit where credit's due, they made a good game here.
Sounds really janky and awful.
Rebirth 3 is fun
I haven't gotten to him yet.
Source?
Evenicle 2 but it's slow going since my kanji knowledge is still intermediate level. I'll make it one day.
I'll probably play some DQ8 later tonight, and I'll get Ni No Kuni on PS3 next in a week or so
Trillion
Because I can't find anything that interests me lately and the next LoH game isn't out for a while
i totally get the skepticism, but it's a lot of fun in practice.
That's what everyone said about most IF games and they all turned out to be shit.
dumb frogposter
Working my way through Xenoblade 2 at the moment. Really enjoying it even though I'm constantly getting sidetracked by avalanches of side quests.
Tora is /ourpon/
I'm on the final floor of the final story dungeon in Etrian Odyssey Nexus and I'm not in the mood to inevitably get destroyed by the final boss yet.
>Why aren't you playing a JRPG right now?
Finishing up God Eater 3. Not sure I have time for jrpgs. I did beat Kingdom Hearts 3 a week ago.
Source?
Does Super mario rpg count?
I put this down for a few months near the end of the game and I'm afraid to pick it back up. I have no idea what I was doing.
Noted. Thanks for the input, user. I'll keep an eye on it for now.
Give me a jrpg with some light dating sim shit thrown in like persona and cold steel and I will
Funny you post this, I'm playing Hollow Realization now. I like the actual game part of it so far even if all the systems are a little overwhelming at first but everything surrounding it is kind of lame. I really like SAO's character design but every time they open their mouths I want to die.
I don't like games that don't revolve around me shitting on scrubs
After how bad the last four were, are you really looking forward to the next one?
>implying even the most medicore western RPGs dont have stories that shit all over the average japshit
>implying turned based combat isnt superior to action based
>implying there is mandatory grinding in any JRPG made after 1988
I'm not a massive faggot.
But that's the hot part
I'm playing Etrian Odyssey V now, but I keep forgetting to buy Ariadne Threads and then dying and being set back by hours. I also have a really bad team composition and it's becoming more and more of a problem. It's still fun though.
But I am playing Lost Odyssey.
I love Bonerbackpat.
I'm playing Resident Evil 1 (WOW, WHAT A MANSION) and after that I'm probably going to start Silent Hill.
I always bring two threads in case I forget to buy one when I leave town. Then, next time I use one I see that I only have one, and I immediately go and buy one after I get sent to town.
Protip: buy more than 1 thread at a time. I usually buy them in packs of 5. Once you start getting low, buy more.
I do do that but then I run out without realizing I've run out and go out and die.
Fairy Fencer F ADF
Dark Rose Valkyrie
Conception II
Keep in mind that while the first one is solid, the other two are kusoge (at least when it comes to gameplay, the girls and art is nice).
I'm waiting for the next big one to appear something original for once. After KH3 came out all the old games that people were waiting decades for a sequel have finally all happened. Do you guys think that project Re: Fantasy will be any good.
I'll add Agarest Mariage there, as I am playing it right now.
If you want something better then go play Growlanser or Langrisser IV in PS1.
>Tora is /ourpon/
Tora is too based for this world
SO EVERYTHING THAT MAKES ME WHOLE
I'm playing trails in the sky and its boring as fuck.
Playing ToV right now.
Yuri's pretty fun.
>He fell for the trails meme
Protip: It doesn't get better so try a different jrpg.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you motherfuckers told me dungeon travelers 2 was super cool and hard
I got it and everything feels bland, like a low quality copy
also everything is really easy (yeah I know postgame isn't)
I'm in the catacombs, chapter 6 I think, and I'm having fun but as I said the game feels like a weird bland copy
etrian odyssey untold1 felt harder and with a more solid UI
Literally playing FFXV right now.
>just finished Utawarerumono
hold me bros ;_; they need to adapt a second season
>implying even the most medicore western RPGs dont have stories that shit all over the average japshit
wrpgs' writing is barely distinguishable from the reddit politics comment section.
>implying turned based combat isnt superior to action based
i didn't imply that at all. all i said is that there are action-based jrpgs too if you don't like turn-based.
>implying there is mandatory grinding in any JRPG made after 1988
like i said, if you feel the need to grind in any modern jrpg, you suck at games. grinding stopped being a valid complaint years and years ago.
games like divine divinity are bad rpgs.
I am, recently finished Tales of Berseria and started Ni No Kuni 2 because i wanted a more light hearted experience but im 40 hours in and goddamn i've only seen like 10 enemy types and everything else are reskins of such monsters, it's also either stupidly easy or "lol 1 shot" fights, last but not least i've been really REALLY thorough with the Kingdom management and i still need to build like 20 more buildings and THEN upgrade them, i don't even think i'll need them, haven't upgraded any spells and most of my equipment came from enemy drops. Only the General store was worthy and i used it to buy hundreds of healing items.
I'd play a JRPG if it had anime-style visuals and storytelling but western-style gameplay, character creation, and player agency.
So Etrian Odyssey then?
>are you really looking forward to the next one?
I'm not a /fg/ drone so yes I am
based Nanameda Kei. i can recognize him by just an armpit
Trails By NISA soon
>Fairy Fencer
>not kusoge
user.....
Hopefully Conception one coming West after the remake in Japan
That's more of an old-school dungeon crawler, I was thinking more along the lines of anime Morrowind. I ought to try EO though.
>Sky
should have just played Cold Steel
I am
Would you say it's worth a rent or does there look to be a lot of replay value? I have an extended gamefly trial I haven't used yet and I really don't want to pay $60 for it. Looks really interesting though. Also apparently Kedouin did the scenario, which explains all the gruesome ryona death scenes.
Careful you'll summon sky autists
>western-style gameplay
but I am
>anime Morrowind
Why would you want to hurt yourself?
Playing through Persona 4 original on emulator because fuck buying a dead handheld
still better than P5
but i jsut finished assassin's creed 4 and now im working through okami
Guys, which one should I play?
>ar tonelico 2
>shining Resonance
>fairy fencer f
>arc rise fantasia
You won't get all the secrets, endings and special items in one playthrough
i was playing vesperia but i got tired of rita so i am playing grandia 2 instead, really enjoying the combat
Just wait for it to inevitably cost $15 a couple months from now like every CH title.
Also be on PC
It'd be fun. I want to freely build the character I want and then explore an immersive anime-style world from a first person or close 3rd person perspective.
I choose to believe that the XSEED talent moving over to NISA for the time being to help guard the sanctity of CS3 will guarantee its quality.
that's OK, it's a lengthy RPG and sort of divisi-
>should have just played Cold Steel
don't listen to that giant homo
stop forcing and spamming these threads
can't... stop... watching....
That's the less optimal option but the one I'll have to go for it seems. Really I'm just kind of desperate for something to play right now so I don't just play Project Diva all day long. The last few games I tried to play (Blue Reflection, .hack, SAO Hollow Realization) were all hard for me to get into for a myriad of reasons, especially after playing several stellar games in a row before them.
I actually like pc announcements for CH titles since they always do a huge discount on console shortly before release.
>stop discussing videogames
Tales of Vesperia. I hate the combat so much but I will see this through. For Rita.
I have found my goddess
Skykeks seething
This is a twitter screencap/eceleb drama/politics board not a gaming board
Ar Tonelico.
>skyfags literally can't go a single mention of CS without telling you how sky is the greatest series ever and they hate CS
The titty monster already dropped out.
The trails games are bad
Atelier is Good
Neptunia is honestly the most 5/10 set of games I've ever played
Dragon Quest is quaint
Final Fantasy is a mixed bag of quality but generally good
SMT is great
Good Tales games are kinda like yeah okay.
Bad Tales games are laughably terrible.
Pokemon use to be good say before the 3ds
... Am I missing anything major?
They are all pretty good choices. Ar tonelico is the best in the series imo.
Based Laura friend
One of my personal favorites.
Ah poor baby. Do you want a blowjob? Huh? Does little crybaby user won't a bj?
cus I'm playing Witcher 3 which is better than any shitty Jrpg released this generation.
>Posting anime thots
Play her game
Omega Quintet was alright
It has the only decent battle system to come out of CH.
because its a braindead genre that requires no player input.
RB/Victory's was alright
Battle System, girls, and music were good
protag wasn't horrible for a CH harem MC though his only competition is Fang from Fairy Fencer
>western-style gameplay
just watch a movie, same thing.
>player agency
boy, i sure do love all that player agency in wrpgs!
Still pretty shit compared to something like Dragon Quarter.
But I am.
I'd rather play magilou's game
Thought so, babe.
I don't think it's that kind of thread user
I burn out on JRPGs too easily. I can play like 2 per year
>length bloated by back-tracking and grinding
>unsatisfying combat
>level ups and items that can be bought with real money
a JRPG without these is a good one in my opinion Many JRPGs feel like i'm wasting my fucking time doing boring shit just to get to the next story bit and that's clearly the incentive for MTX shortcuts in these games.
Was she fired, or was working at NISA just that bad that she gave up?
I am playing God Eater 3, SMTIVA and Trails in the Sky 1
I just finished one though.
I can't find a ps4 exclusive that doesn't look like a super kusoge. I also feel that except for the one banger release every few years they just don't make JRPGs like they used to. I miss Suikoden
cause i am not a fkin weaboo degenerate
How's Exist Archive?
Her cat died and she got super stressed out.
Death end re:quest pc port when?
I love anime, I love video games, but I hate interactive story telling, jrpg are boring
Just get a Switch in time for June/July. If not for Fire Emblem, then for Rune Factory.
I am. I've got FFXIV open and I'm in Eureka as I type this.
But user I’m playing kingdom hearts. Battling depression while playing it though and I’ve lost motivation to continue after beating the Maleficent dragon and hitting s brick wall with the boss fight following it. Think I’m gonna take a break
How many boards are “anime”?
Yea, Persona and kingdom hearts. Also Pokémon mystery dungeon technically
Because I don't like haremshit with some faggy MC.
4 and apocalypse are the only ones I’ve beaten. I couldn’t get into strange journey for some reason I think it’s mainly because I wasn’t feeling great when I tried it, I’ll have to give it another go
Not every jrpg is hard shit. New Drsgon Quest Mc marries his home town girl instead of hareming the female cast. Kingdom hearts doesn’t do the harem trope. Persona technically doesn’t you pick one. And all the final fantasy games are lacking in harems
Because the only real challenge left is getting as much 100% at compendium and it's a fucking 2hu kindergarten.
eraMegaten btw
>same shit as haremshit but with options cut off
Wow, such great games.
I already bought one for XBC2 and Octopath Traveller, I just want to justify my PS4 purchase beyond RDR2, the Cybersluts games and ports I can also play on PC
All of them.
Where the fuck do you think you are?
Eventually like all CH games
>New Drsgon Quest Mc marries his home town girl instead of hareming the female cast
Guess I know what i'm not playing
Where's MeiQ?
I am. I just get sick of them, a lot of them have great character designs but bland as fuck gameplay.
>Where's MeiQ?
We don't talk about that one
Bloodborne doesn't have turn based combat and it's an JRPG.
>am I missing anything later
Your entire list reeks of "i only play what's currently popular"
But I am. Just finished DDS and I'm about to start DDS2
>I'm not a /fg/ drone so yes I am
Doesn't take an /fg/ drone to realize the series has gone downhill. Imagine enjoying another fucking anime military academy JRPG in 2019.
Imagine being such a /fg/ drone that you feel the need to complain about other's liking something
Who said I wasn't?
It is when you guys changed the appeal of the series for the worse and made Falcom fuck up on multiple front in an effort to appease you.
Considering how much skyfags cry I'm not surprised they got tired of catering to you
People who play RPGs are depressed gamers who like to sit alone in their dark rooms and play slow games.
If there are no waifu I can date as a self insert then it's not worth playing
I wish I was playing octopath but I'm too poor to buy a switch.
I kinda prefer wrpgs anyway
But can I make sexual advances towards my students?
*tips*
Because
>they're all LRPGs
>they're all set on generic high fantasy worlds
>they all have the same "4 kids & chosen one save world from 1000% evil god" plot
>they're all very linear and your choices never fucking matter
>oh look you finally earned a new skill/weapon, too bad it will become obsolete once you reach the next shop lul
I'd rather play Fallout 1 & 2 farn.
If you're going to force me to play a linear story-based game at least make it tell me something original. WRPGs may be shit nowadays but JRPGs were always absolute cookie cutter garbage with a few microscopical ultra-obscure exceptions.
Tell me what to play. I got a PC that can emulate anything that's emulatable and a PS4.
Sure.
Based incels ITT
It's a quote from Nintendo's old CEO
Fuck JRPGs, fuck western games and fuck mobile games
I only play fighting games and character action games, the true video game genres for patricians
Fortune Summoners
>Fortune Summoners
Convince me.
But I am. Just got a Vita, and playing through CS on it. Also playing SMT IV on emulator. Having lots of fun with both of them, even though I'm not that far in at all.
But I'm playing Pkmn Platinum and DQ V.
I really like turn based battles and character building. It's also an exercise for your imagination.
If you're playing any video game for the story you're doing it wrong.
I'm looking for a jrpg where i can romance the little girl(s)
any recommendations?
>Considering how much skyfags cry I'm not surprised they got tired of catering to you
Yeah, god help people air grievances over an arc gone wrong just cause a bunch of casual fans who didn't hold a vested interest in the series story enjoyed it on a surface level. Falcom sold out to a bunch of Vita teenagers and the stories and characters in Trails suffered as a result.
Took a chance with this one and I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying it. Between this and Mary Skelter I either came in during CH's upswing or I kept my expectations so low due to what I've heard about them that I just got lucky.
Now please port Mary Skelter 2 to the Switch since we already know Snoy broke the PS4 ver.
good jp
The key to enjoying Compa's games is to keep your expectations low, but they have definitely been improving in the last few years, starting with VII I think.
Disgaea 1 PC is on sale right now for like $5 but I heard it had issues at launch. Have those been addressed and is it worth playing that version over the PSP one?
>typically amount to /pol/
But that's 100% false, buddy.
>jrpgs with action-based combat exist
Very little, and none of the "Good" ones use action-based.
>you just suck
So have you ever actually played a jrpg? Name one game where being 10/15 levels under where you're supposed to be because you didn't grind at all isn't a disavantage and almost instant death.
Alright
You roam the land accompanied by two other cute girls. It has many quaint qualities in art style and so on, but the 2d action is excellent too. The battles are challenging and fast-paced. AIs are quick to overpower you with guard breaks and do their best to avoid your ranged attacks/magic. Once you get better, you can do some really sick combos, and having a high hit count increases the damage on any further hits which is awesome.
youtube.com
While I had a few grievances with the game, overall it was a great ride.
Maybe its just me, but CH does a much better job with their games when they arent upbeat. Like how Conquest, and MS were pleasant surprises.
bcuz they dont have beast races UwU
and also because i like stuff like enchanting, spellmaking, gambling, alchemy and other side stuff that makes my future grind easier and more fun. Don't know any JRPGs that have that, but i've only played JRPGs up to the 7th gen so i might be wrong.
I played persona 4 and literally the only time I had to grind was Shadow Yukiko so that I could get a persona with Media.
If you need to grind in modern JRPGs you're doing something wrong with your combat strategy.
>But that's 100% false, buddy.
funny joke.
>Very little, and none of the "Good" ones use action-based.
kingdom hearts, monster hunter, tales, crystal chronicles, ys, seiken densetsu, etc. beg to differ.
>So have you ever actually played a jrpg?
have you? outside of niche series like disgaea that are specifically built around grinding, most jrpgs haven't gone out of their way to force you to grind in ages. as long as you don't try to rush through the game by running away from every encounter, you should be fine.
zeno
I don’t have time for them. I already only manage to finish one video game every two or three months, if I played a JRPG it would be the only game I play all year.
unironically undertale
