>muh letting go maymay
There's a lot more to the DLC than this

Lol just take them and sneak past Elijah.

>shoots whats his name's head off
>put gold bars in head
>carry head over obstacles

>Gold bars are heavy
Wow! No fucking shit

WOOOOOOW How was I supposed to know there'd be gold in the vault? I expected caps, not this useless shiny shit.

If only Pete Hines designed Dead Money, then there would definitely be bottlecaps for some reason

I just realized that Beth completely screwed up by reintroducing caps instead of gold-based currency which was already a thing in Fo2 and New Vegas had to invent some bullshit about currency crash just to fix shit...

What's heavier, a kilogram of gold, or a kilogram of feathers?

>tfw I glitched-VATS killed Father Elijah near the door, inserted all the gold bars in his body and collected them on the other side

Without a question:
>The Void
>Pathologic
>Cryostasis

I'd also argue:
>Bastion
>Braid
>Silent Hill 2

Isn't the message ruined considered a lot of the players cheated to get all the bars?

You do realize that value of caps is not measured in weight, right?

youtube.com/watch?v=k3J8FYKZ52w

Youre not supposed to cheat in videogames

Is exploiting a glitch cheating?

>just replayed FO3 after having replayed FO:NV for the first time in years
Good God was the writing really this bad? How did this win awards?

woah such a deep message

s o y

You're forgetting the begin again part.

>Good God was the writing really this bad?
Yep. It was absolutely amazing to me that people were OK with it at that time. It's fucking ATROCIOUS. Somehow a step down from Oblivion, which was already absolutely god-awful.

>load all the gold bars into Elijah's severed body part
>pick it up and get away with all the bars
Nothin' personnel Gamebryo.

I replayed them back-to-back too recently, NV->FO3, and honestly it's just the style's different is all. Bethesda's writing doesn't take itself too seriously. E.g. Three Dog, Moira Brown etc are mostly just comic relief characters. President Eden on the other hand is BRILLIANTLY written and the voice actor did an amazing job. Just listen to this:
youtube.com/watch?v=uytFKoygdrE

>President Eden on the other hand is BRILLIANTLY written
>'Kill yourself my man, please.'
>'Alright, guess I'll blow up this base and the people I should be protecting too. You're a good sport so I'll protect you on your way out.'

Yes
The narrative only works if you respect the mechanics and play along
You were not supposed to take all the gold

The Master from Fallout 1 could be persuaded exact same way however?? It's just a Fallout trope dude. Fans would be mad if they didn't include this option.

It''s nothing like it. The thing that comes close is Colonel Autism at the end, and telling him he's already lost and had better walk away while he still can. Convincing Eden made no sense. Props to the VA though.

>Proceed to spend the next 2 hours trying to get out with the bars while over encumbered
Fuck moralfags

There was actually "a valuable lesson" quest in fnv, I loved that collecting all those star caps lead to such ending.

the gold bars are a lesson, actually. they represent your money, and how you can never get it back now that you spent it on that shitty dlc. unless you cheat, of course. piracy ayy

>The Master from Fallout 1 could be persuaded exact same way however??
Except in Fallout 1, the writing was slightly fucking better than literally saying "you are an abomination of science", you idiot. First of all you actually had to make discovery of the fatal flaw in Master's Plan. Second of all, the actual argumentation was there. It took a while. The answers were elaborate and had at least an illusion of being something convincing.

Attached: dingle.png (723x567, 26K)

What the fuck was the lesson? You could get by far the best energy weapon in the game? I could use that pistol to 2 shot the lvl 50 deathclaws in the divide, that thing's insane with right perks.

Based

>le piracy
Cringe.

A kilogram of gold.

What many people don’t know/care about, is that the mass and the weight of an object are not the same. The mass of an object is a measurement related to the number and atomic mass of all atoms inside your material, and doesn’t depend on the position of the object.

Weight, on the other hand, is a force. To be specific: the gravitational force applied by the object to the surface.

Considering the two main influences of weight (gravity and buoyancy), the weight of an object equals:

w = mg − Vρg

With

m the mass of the object (1kg)
g the gravitational constant (9.81N/kg)
V the volume of the object
ρ the density of the surrounding air (1.3g/l)
As we know that gold is far denser than feathers, we can deduce that a kilogram of gold has a smaller volume than a kilogram of feathers. Plugging the inequality into the equation yields that the weight of gold is larger than the weight of feathers, simply because it doesn’t displace as much air.

So although they have the same mass… a kilogram of gold weighs more.

dont be stupid
they are the same there are just a shitload more feathers than gold

It isn't cheating, it is a creative solution. The actual thing is realizing the gold is so "valuable" it feels like waste to spend it because you never get your worth unless you buy A LOT of useless shit that end up taking inventory space, making it fairly useless in practice aside from a novelty.

But gold is heavier than feathers

tbf, it was the East Coast, which is separated by large swathes of land plus the Rockies. Obsidian could have just used the NCR money as the standard instead of caps.

I thought the backstory they came up with was kind of funny. Made the BoS look like even bigger retards than usual.

When I want to play NV I always install TTW. Not because I want to play "Fallout" 3. I install it to conquer that shitty world. I always finish my NV playthrough by slaughtering every single settlement except Paradise Falls and bringing all surviving females to Eulogy for eternal raping.

So you're telling me if I put 1kg of gold and 1kg of feathers on a scale they'll weigh different?

Lmao
>just a pinta milk

Dude do you realize the absolute metric fuckton of feathers you would have to have in order for them to weigh a fucking kilogram?

Only one way to find out. Godspeed, user.

What was the "fatal flaw"?

Supermutants are incels.

Super mutants are sterile and therefore can't repopulate. Eventually the Master would run out of subjects for his FEV experiments and his expansion would grind to a halt while damning mankind.

mutants can't reproduce

why my pee pee don’t work

You can easily sneak past elijah with the gold though.
It's the only redeeming thing about the dlc honestly.

they should have extended this to the entire game and make the weight system more meaningful, I can barely take 3 gold bars with me but carrying 10 anti-mat rifles up my asshole is fine
didn't that jsawyer mod reduce the weight limit drastically? I have to give that a try because as a huge fucking hoarder, having to choose what I want to carry more carefully sounds interesting

Yeah, it did. One think I don’t like about Jsawyer, however, is that you level up so slowly. I always change that in the mod’s settings to be more like the vanilla game.

JSawyer reduces the base carry weight from 100 to 50, so an average Courier with 5 STR can only carry 100 pounds, plus/minus 10 for every point of STR

>let go
lmao

Attached: 582417.jpg (1024x576, 112K)

Does sterile mean in this context that the super mutants are shooting blanks or that they have erectile dysfunction?

If the latter is the case why didnt the master just come up with super mutant viagra?

also i just realized that you can get your pussy and ass ravaged by a super mutant in fo2 but i dont know how a funny scenario is supposed to overwrite the plotpoint raised in fo1 considering the tone of the game in general

The FEV gave them funny balls, so they can’t make any sperm.

They don't produce viable semen or eggs

They can't reproduce. At all. At least until that faggot Emil or Pete says otherwise.

i had 47,000 caps when i started the DLC so the message was kind of lost on me. i took one bar to put on display in my house. i figured it was a trap to make you waste time so elijah could get the jump on you.

It means that FEV "corrects" haploid cells like sperm and ova by making them diploid

You can literally just walk out with all the bars

youtube.com/watch?v=bBs96uppw8M

Attached: ZbQqaze.jpg (676x508, 14K)

But didnt the master plan on having human slaves to reproduce and turn into mutants? That wouldve been sustainable

The point was to replace humans entirely with a new, self sustaining master race

Yes that was a sound plan until it came to light that You're an abortion of science. You need to die...

Obviously gold since gold is heavier than a feather.

But that's fucking wrong you retard.

Weight is exclusively the force on an object due to gravitation.
You have calculated the net force on a kilo of gold or feathers.

w = mg

He wanted to turn EVERYONE into super mutants:
>The Unity will bring about the master race. Master! Master! One able to survive, or even thrive, in the wasteland. As long as there are differences, we will tear ourselves apart fighting each other. We need one race. Race! Race! One goal. Goal! Goal! One people... to move forward to our destiny. Destiny.
The voice acting is godly btw, just listen to this:
fallout.fandom.com/wiki/File:Fo1_Master_Destiny.ogg

The master plan isn't so master at all, since his race of supermen are flawed and not perfect. For a charismatic and smart figure who clearly thinks he's above all else, having some inbred to pointed that flaw is like a punch to the gut. Remember that this guy had a huge ass ego to boot.

Damn, that VA sounds amazing, is Fallout 1 worth playing for the story?

Depends if you define weight as a scalar or vector quantity. Weight does not equal mass x gravity, it's entirely a factor of gravitational force.

They're both just as heavy

>why are you replacing humans with androids?
>YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND IT
>my character has 10 int
>mfw

Attached: kojima heres to you.jpg (238x357, 26K)

fun fact gold is simply heavy and letting go is explained with every single character in the DLC and their predicament not with stupid materialistic memes that only americans would latch on to

Attached: danc.gif (480x320, 719K)

>What was the "fatal flaw"?
Did you not play the fucking game?
Supermutants are sterile (well at least until Fo2 retconned that in a joke ending), thus Masters Race won't be able to actually repopulate the planet. One of Master's researches promised that the problem is solvable and was feeding Master false data, which is why Master did not know it. You learn that shit from the data computers or from the researcher himself in the Military Base.

Not really. Surprisingly enough, the story and writing and even mechanics in Fo1 are really bare-bones for the most part. Master is extremely well executed, but most of the mechanical depth and great writing that Fo used to be associated comes actually from Fo2, not the first game.

That said, Fo1 is worth playing for the atmosphere alone. It's god-like. Even if the story is kinda simple and the dialogues are (for the most part) not all that amazing, and the ballance is off: the whole weight of the world is amazing.

Having 3 good games is already enough for me. Sometimes things are gone to the shitter but it's okay because good things already happened.

Well, there's the rumors flying around that we're getting a Fallout 3 Remaster because of an Amazon listing.

I recognize the other games, but not this.
What is the lesson of this game?

At this point I don't even care anymore, just let Bethesda cannibalize their IPs, they slowly dug their own grave after Morrowind. Fallout and TES are just husk of ideas made to please a bunch of well connected rich people.
I accepted that these games are dead, once in a while we get the spiritual sequels.
Let it go, it hurts less.

The fact that so many morons think that this is trump's theme song or something makes me want to blow my brains out.

It's just as bad writing but Obsidishills will rush to defend it.

It's not a bad writing since it makes sense if you think about it
>man want to make every humans to be his super humans
>but they cannot create offsprings
>therefore even if he managed to make every living humans to be super mutants, they will extinct anyway no matter what
It's clearly flawed

Fuck you Moira is a great character she isn't all comic relief
Don't talk shit about my waifu

>what are some video game that teach you valuable lesson?
>YOUR HEALTH IS LOW, TRY TO GET YOUR COMBAT MULTIPLIER EVEN HIGHER

Yeah so clearly the alternative plan is to just kill urself my man rather than, ya know, make a minor adjustment to the current plan.

yea but gameplay-story integration can do wonders to drive a point home
in this case it did, it's easy as shit to tell Dean to get over his problems, not so easy to get over your own
Especially since it kinda calls the player out for being such a greedy bastard in the first place, that the only thing that can properly make you understand the weight of the message is a literal fortune in gold

What an absolute brainlet

I'm carrying 5 rocket launchers and 100 rockets. I should be able to carry a couple of gold bars.

>let go
>not pressing `

you can carry a couple
they weigh the realistic weight for gold bars

You could do the same thing to the master and to the legate in NV.

Just give up, you tried to look smart and revealed you don't know anything.
Weight is specifically mass times the acceleration due to gravity

>pick up individual bars
>drop as stack
>carry out at regular pace
they taught me nothing and i didnt even play new vagas

Not only are you a nerd but you're not even a good one at that.

No, and they wouldn't have been able to do it that well anyway. Exposure to radiation fucked with the transformation process, producing the shittier retarded mutants. That's why kidnapping vault dwellers was so important to the Master's plan.

The Master is insane by that point, while being insecure and fragile thanks to his big ego. Imagine having your entire lifework to be completely meaningless because of one little detail (that you think it's fixable but it's not), just a little push will make him easily off himself.

>you define weight as a scalar or vector quantity
I'm sorry but what exactly are you trying to say nigger

What does it mean then user.

>came out in 2011

Is that actually the explanation? Because that's pretty funny.

>What does it mean then user.
The entire point about Bastion is that the Caelondian's xenophobia and fear of the Ura led to their own destruction.
Rather than live in peace with the Ura, they built a wall and militarized themselves to fend off any potential Ura invasion. The wall wouldn't have even helped; the Ura are tunnelers than live underground.

whoa...

>Additionally, as the gametes of the reproductive system consist of 'half-cells' using split DNA, they could be perceived as 'damage' by FEV, which would 'repair' them, rendering the subject sterile.
fallout.fandom.com/wiki/ZAX.MSG

>open console
>tgm
Heh, nothing personell, lesson

Damned savage, that's what he is.

>no moustache

0/5

So he could use the vault dwellers as breeding stock?

A slot system combined with a more realistic weight would be perfect.

no
All the mutants in the game (with the exception of one) were made from random human wastelanders dipped in a vat of FEV
The one exception was the Lieutenant, who was from another vault
One of the biggest differences between someone who spent most of their life in a vault and someone who lived in the wastes all their life is how irradiated they are
More irradiated people have more defects when they are dipped in FEV, the most common defect? Lower intelligence
This is why all the mutants you meet in the game are dumb as a brick
This is why the lieutenant isn't dumb as a brick, he was relatively radiation free, and got the full benefits of FEV with none of the drawbacks (aside from being ugly and sterile)
This is why the master wants to kidnap people from vaults, to dip them and make more mutants as intelligent as the lieutenant

I think most people don't realize how much a single gold bar weights.

youtube.com/watch?v=_awyjY3UnGk

And? How does that translate to "no"? Sounds pretty "yes" to me.

No it doesn't, you fucking imbecile.

I was so fucking smug when I took all of it and sneaked past Elijah and the narrator did this monologue about the courier learning to let go.

Funny. Really. I'm laughing.

Are they in a vacuum?

Why would you still need humans when you get superior super mutants? Assuming that they can breed

>TGM

Attached: 1548697657123.jpg (1024x1017, 83K)

Also you can buy a kg of gold in a country that has less gravity and sell it in a country with a lot of gravity, you will make infinite money by replicating that strategy!

And then the super mutant companion in Fallout 2 tells you "it took a while for the jucies to get flowing"

Oh my god "Let it go" only applies if you cannot physically take the bars out. If you can manage to get them out without using the console then the lesson isn't violated. That's like asking someone to lie down on a barbed wire when you can easily cut it instead. I'd get it if there was no way to get them out without cheating but there are ways. If those ways exist then your valuing principle over results like a faggy deontologist.

Attached: 12.png (743x534, 366K)

Marcus is either joking or wrong. There are no mutant babies in FO2 and there aren't any in NV.

Assassin's Creed: The Black Flag

A wise pirate once said these words of wisdom: What is peace if not a confusion between wars?

War is a natural phenomenon, for it will always exist until all life becomes extinct.

Imagine the smell, the full bush, the hairy pits

fallout 2 is a joke, non-canon

>you have to let go, goy
>just sneak out all the gold anyway
By the time I finished the game I had so much money I had nowhere to spend it. I didn't sell even half of my gold bars. This shitty DLC broke the economy of the game.

Far Cry 2; War is a disease, and it spreads like a cancer.

or mutant can reproduce after a couple of years.

The gold bars are so heavy to instruct somthing?

And the sadistic thing is that anyone who COULD pick it up easily wouldn't be able to fit their hog's trotter of a forearm into the tiny hole anyway.

Shit nigger, maybe it broke the economy because you're not supposed to take all the gold?

>literally says 12.5 kg
>''hurr people don't know how much this 12.5kg bar weights!''
Maybe it's 12.5 kg.

It still applies because the time it would take to shift out the fortune bit by bit would be better spent actually doing something worthwhile, in game and IRL. At some point, you're going to have to let go of whatever isn't worth carrying.

If I am not supposed to take it they should have made it impossible. If I can do it so easily then I will do it.
You don't just wave gold bars in my face and then expect me not to take them all.

>not just selling the gold bar then consoling the amount to you

But after realising they can't breed, why wouldn't you just factory farm the only humans worth a damn anyways? You wouldn't even have to do it in an immoral way, you could pretty easily build an ascension cult out of it when they were told past 16 or 18 they'd be joining the ranks of the superhuman masters.

If you use console commands it disables achievements, and if I don't get muh achievements I will not be a real chad and I will not have proof that I've completed the game

Attached: 7958548.jpg (443x332, 20K)

>Disables achievements until you quit and restart the game

FTFY

your honesty is admirable

I used a console command once when either a quest broke or there was some bug that got me stuck. It didn't unlock a single achievement for the rest of the game.
Maybe restarting the game worked at release, but it doesn't work now.

What a fucking autist :D

Only in Japan could they have this challenge and not worry about people stealing the gold bar.

>let it go
Is... is the gold in the vault meant to represent Fallout as a whole?
Obsidian probably knew this was their last shot, maybe they wanted to leave us a message about the IP.
>let go... of Fallout

>he doesn't play Hardcore

I'm not going to accept your anecdotal evidence when I have anecdotal evidence of my own. It's most bitch basic anti "cheat" to stop you using TGM or kill to get some cheevos. It doesn't persist through saves. You can disable it with a mod.

Fallout New Vegas is so fucking good. All the DLCs, the writing, the quests, Robert House's smug Anarcho-Capitalist face. Bethesda could EASILY out-do Obsidian with the resources have access to if they just put some fucking effort into the writing. I don't understand, are they making shit games on purpose?

Attached: 1436317172768.png (1280x720, 597K)

That would against Master's point of making the super mutant in the first place. Remember that he thought that the mutants are perfect and superior in any form.

is hardcore mode any fun?

Proofs?

>Just smart enough to sound intelligent
>Just dumb enough to be a brainlet

Play the game or read the wiki, your choice. Or read the thread.

The main thing I like about it is ammo having weight. The food water sleep needs are trivial and you'll never seriously worry about them, but having to choose your weapons and ammo loads with more care, which also affects the armour you can wear, adds a fun challange in my opinion.

This isn't proofs.

The fact that you need a proof about thing that's explained in the game is enough for me to give that answer.

>To let go
Nigga I went back in the Mojave fully naked with all these fucking gold bars

No proofs cause there are no proofs. I win. You've spent more time telling me you won't provide proofs than it would take to provide proofs. Logically, this means you have no proofs.

>"let go" meme

Losers have no concept of winning so it makes sense that the feeling is foreign to you.

Feels great btw fampai.

Huh? Okay let me explain, the master thought the supermutants would be better in every fucking way ever, that's the only reason he did it. He's not an evil guy, he just thought that supermutants were the next natural step in the evolutionary process, and that he was some sort of chosen one that would usher in this next step for the humans. Then, it turns out, that his mutants are not the next natural step. They are just a super roided version of humans that loose all reproductionary capabilities. Therefore, he realizes that his life goals; all his creations and even himself, all of those, are just mutated freaks.

He decides that since he wants a pure humanity, (which he previously thought was the super mutants) the only good thing to do here is to blow shit up so they wont bother the actual pure humans

The true question is which weighs more
A shitload of gold
or
A crapton of feathers

It's also quite predictable that you will admit that you're "feeling great", like the common normalfags àon facebook or the likes.
Thread's dead anyway. Next thing you do is probably to keep to give me unrelated (You)s while covering your ears about the stuff that was already talked intensively in this thread.
Oh hey, someone already filled me

guess i never learned this lesson because by the time i finished dead money i had no need for caps so i just left all the gold

Ok but proofs?

This.

Why don't they use the hole as a support for the gold?
>lean gold against the glass/plastic whatever it is
>lift gold up and rest end on the bottom of the hole
>tip gold down from your side like a seesaw
>let gravity do the rest of the work

You're not supposed to find bugs and glitches in videogames either. Beats me how can anyone immerse in a Bethesda game.

OK I just finished the video and they do exactly that. GG
