I think the main problem is that RP haven't been uploading new content in a while. They've been left in the dust by people who stream or upload content more frequently.
I suppose it's harder for them to come up with videos since the atmosphere of the internet isn't the same as when they started uploading. Making edgy jokes can get you into a massive controversy. Also, a lot of their videos cracked jokes about LPers who uploaded low-quality game footage, but these days most people have much better recording equipment available.
I vaguely remember there being some debate at those times when they uploaded stuff that made fun of LPers who had an existing fanbase, rather than some random unknowns. Maybe the scene today involves too many online celebrities and potential drama. Also, the facecams on modern LP footage might make things more personal than knowing just a person's username; maybe they don't want to start flamewars that involve their target's face rather than just an abstract username. I'm also wondering if maybe they've got more things in their lives and they don't have time or enthusiasm for these things anymore. Sometimes people just grow out of things and move on.
