Why does everyone like to shit on games about the second world war now...

Why does everyone like to shit on games about the second world war now? There's still plenty of apolitical impartial ones like Hearts of Iron, Silent Hunter, IL-2 or Iron Front that focus on a somber and authentic atmosphere without pushing any political agenda. There is a lot more to this subgenre than Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.

it sucks most ww1 or ww2 games that aren't normalfag shit like COD were released in ps1/ps2 era. No one has bothered to revisit it. weird to me. they only make shitty multiplayer games that have 1000 players for like a month or two then die.

What ever happened to Day of Infamy? Is that still active?

that game is so dead I open the page on steam now and player number doesn't even show.

What a fucking shame, the few times I played it I enjoyed myself more than I did with Insurgency.

Where are the cold war games. Who cares about the Wehrmacht when the Bundeswehr have all the cool shit.

I like both, you can have both.
>le kraut space magic maymay
The G11 was never adopted, and everyone knows the G3 is the best cold war raifu anyway.

>*had

Strichtarn > Flecktarn

Leopards still exist so it's still have buddy.

I was actually playing some that yesterday. It's very low in players, but it's still possible to find a full game at most hours. I live in Canada, and if I try to play late at night and around that time, I'm forced to play with Europeans and have to play with 100+ ping, but other than that no issues.

*G36 starts to melt^

>Iron Front
>tfw the best Arma game made since Arma 2 wasn't even made by Bohemia
Fuck, I repeat, FUCK Arma 3.

I couldn't get into this back in the day for some dumb reason. Maybe the contious timer pissed me off.
I enjoyed The Great Escape on the other hand, despite the lackluster stealth mechanics because it had a decent atmosphere and I loved the movie as a kid.

i would rather focus on the not-stalingrad, not operation overlord aspects of the war

we have the italian campaign, north african campaign, the vienna offensive, kursk offensive, guadalcanal, tarawa, and the philippine campaign as places we rarely see

CoD actually did experiment with obscure battlefields in older games
CoD1 had north africa and CoD5 had seelow heights and okinawa

The most overrated "underrated" series ever made. Not a tactical shooter at all.

Arma 3 was a mistake.

Iron Front takes place entirely in Poland.

How so, the entire game is based around commanding teams of soldiers and flanking and outmaneuvering the enemy. Also, it recreated the french countryside from the time of the war based on old photos and maps, and built the missions around that.

Not many people do shit on them; just a loud minority of people on this board

>outmaneuvering the enemy
Not a challenge when the enemy stays put and waits for you to flank them.

I loved it, the timer added a new dimension to the game, in that you had to plan things out and be in certain areas at the right time. Also, you didn't have any weapons with which to fight the enemy, so you felt very vulnerable and it was tense. Also, nice atmosphere.

>apolitical impartial
What does this even mean.

The only tactical shooters that matter were made by Bohemia. Only consoleniggers disagree, hence why you are shilling Brothers in Arms of all things.

>political agenda
nazis are bad? that's a political agenda now? please tell that to my grandpa who served in wwii

I didn't word myself correctly. I mean not harping on Nazi war crimes or how the allies were all good boy heroes who dindu nuffin.

Men of War series is god tier.

I'm not shilling shit, I've barely played hardcore tactical games. Also, technically all fps games are tactical to an extent, the good ones anyway.

I came here literally to post about Band of Brothers.

For me, Road to Hill 30 was a pretty perfect experience. The game mechanics were sound, the squad members were interesting and the story had you caring about them.

Then Earned in Blood came around which was pretty much the same but from Heartsock's POV and that aws enjoyable too.

Hells Highway was a little meh though for me it was down to the game mechanics for the most part. They changed things up a little, like how instead of having health drop when you got shot instead your screen got redder and redder the longer you were out of cover and eventually you'd take a hit and die. It was good in conception but felt a little strange. The story was still there though, seeing Baker and his PTSD, seeing things like how Corrion had been the perfect soldier but Baker wouldn't promote him for fear of losing him and Corrion getting pretty pissed at wondering why he hasn't been promoted. Seeing what happened to Allen and Garnett (F).

The end hinting towars Bastogne being the next setting too was a massive cocktease that we will probably never see.

I want my war games to be about the military, soldiers and military equipment of the time pitted against each other. If you want to cry about muh holocaust go watch Schindler's List.

This, nazism is socialist and egalitarian therefore bad.

oh, you're actually retarded, okay.

Operation Flashpoint, Wargame

>Why does everyone like to shit on games about the second world war now?
nobody does, aside from basedfield i haven't heard world wars and games in the same topic for years

I don't want the games to be pro-Nazi either, they should be APOLITICAL. For military enthusiasts first and foremost, not /pol/-fags or bleeding heart liberals.

Most of Yea Forums seem to be completely unaware of the existence of any games that aren't AAA console titles or indie pixelshit/"art" platformers.

>The only tactical shooters that matter were made by Bohemia
Please be bait.

War is inherently political dumbfuck.

Video games are escapism and you're a fucking normalfag for wanting to shove politics down the throats of people who play them. I don't give a fuck about you or your real world and what you think matters.

Half life is still the best tactical shooter ever made.

Yes, wars are fought because of political happenings. But the fighting itself shouldn't have political messages forced in your face every few seconds. Kids already have Holocaust class in school.

>nazis are bad
>in a wwii game
>is shoving politics down peoples throats
im just stopping in to tell you you're retarded again, gonna leave this thread and not come back now

Case in point >Day of Infamy
>Days of War
>Post Scriptum
>Hell Let Loose
>HoI
>IL2
And so on. Not all of them have been successful but there's been plenty of activity when it comes to WWII games over the last few years. They're just not AAA multiplatform titles so nobody around here seems to have heard of them.

They were bad, but for reasons you're most likely unaware of. Tell me, why do you think they were evil?

been done to death

>been done to death
*linear story driven first person shooters about world war two has been done to death. I could stand to see a world war two tank sim.

>Arma 3

Name at least one game that made Stalingrad battle good.

Attached: Stalingrad.png (343x705, 34K)

Hearts of Iron because the outcome is entirely up to you.
