While the story and characters are themselves interesting and attach viewers to the show, it also uses its format as a TV show very well. It has way more interesting and varied shots, color schemes, episode structures and such which make the series feel energetic and surprising. I remember watching an episode of Dexter (one of the good ones, mind you) while going through BB and simply the way Dexter looked (colors, camera angles and so on) seemed very amateurish and boring compared to BB.

The fact that people actually think this is mind-boggling. Even the fucking shows creator finds it weird how many people see Walt as an anti hero and not as the villian. He lost all sympathy when he refused to have his friend pay for his treatments in the first season, as he demonstrated his pride and selfishness was more important than his family's well being. Everything bad that followed was entirely his fault.
