>The SanDisk card will be available from April for $449.99

Because it costs an arm and a leg.

>implying I don't
With a hacked Switch you can play games from USB now, I have [u n l i m i t e d. g a m e s]

500 USD isn't that much for a fucking TB the size of your thumbnail

it's still a micro sd card

All the acronyms and shit are getting a bit silly

>1TB mSDXC V30 I U3 A2

Really nigga? Is it fast or not.

It's only 1/3 red, so there's that

Storage is a fucking scam. I bet these little turds cost tree fiddy to produce.

Would be amazing for my hacked switch. I've 500gb of switch ROMs. Another 150+GB of eshop installs and you could fit easily 100gb of emulator ROMs on top.

Because I have 2TB of storage, still, it's an HDD, that shit in OPs picture is impressive.

i have 7

There's no need because I have 3TB instead.

You don't pay for production cost, you pay for development & research

i doubt anyones child porn collection is that big OP
32 GB is good enough to store ~20 games on my 3DS, i could live with just 8 GB

I don't think there's any phone in existence that recognizes more than 512GB microsd card

I'm actually curious now that you brought it up.

It seems like it's taken a while for these cards to come to market. So how difficult is it for these huge storage Micro and Standard SD cards to be produced?

And are the profit margins that good?

because I compared prices and I decided that 200gb will last me for a while, and if it doesn't I can always get a bigger one sometime in the future when they are not overpriced anymore

64GB thumb drive was $5k in 2004. This is nothing.
prices will go down

except when it isn't - it can't even sustain the write speeds of a run-of-the-mill 5400RPM hard drive with 64MB buffer (95MB/s and it slumps down to half of it after 70% filled capacity vs constant 150MB/s of consecutive write speed on WD's meager Blue Desktop series that stays up until it's full)

How long until SD cards get replaced by miniature SSDs?

>implying that's not the same tech
they would have to turn into what essentially is SD card, with all its pros (size) and cons (poorly scalable bandwidth)

That’s exactly what they are though. Don’t you understand what solid state means?

>1TB SD cards
>1TB phones
>100GB games
W-what's happening, bros?

Because the Switch doesnt have enough games to warrant even half of that amount of space.

Slow as fuuuuuuuuck

This. I have a 2tb drive and over 300 steam games. Most of them aren’t worth an install and the ones that are worth playing barely take up the space at all.

remember when things lasted? I wonder how many resources are just wasting in our garbage.

The winning move is to get the tb sd card and just download old games

Maybe with 3DS 8GB was fine, but plenty of Switch games are 10-20GB each.

>100GB games
Isn't that mostly to do with bad/lazy compression? People often have 2-4TB HDDs now, so the time spent getting that 100GB game down to a 30GB game probably doesn't seem worth it to companies.

i would rather buy 10 X 128 GB for less than half the price

Technology, singularity my dude.

user what did you mean by this

>3ds in 2019

5 Switch games filled up my 64gb microSD

MicroSD cards are just too small. switch back to regular SD cards.

All this storage and iPhone users STILL need to pay extra 250$ for 32GB

I only use my phone for work.

My 500gb HDD of switch ROMs just got filled yesterday.

I have another 100gb of eshop games on another. And we aren't 2 years into the systems life yet

and how many GBs of good games do you have?

Moore's law is coming to an end thooooo.

That being said, we have no idea what quantum computing holds, but as for tech that isn't quantum, it's not exponential any longer.

Well I haven't played them all yet but I only download the games I think are good. So probably 80% of them

I remember when I had to record youtube videos using a tripod between my legs with a 32mb sd card with an $800 camera that shot 24fps @ 640x480 with 7mins of time before the card was full.

>1TB SD cards
Okay
>1TB phones
Okay
>100GB games
Absolutely retarded. This is a downgrade in efficiency and optimization.

I member MP3 players were 256Mb. And some rich kids could afford a 2Gb player, that was a luxury.

>That kid that came into class with an MP3 player that held 20 songs

I was one of the rich kids that had an mp3 cd player and carried around a pack of mp3 cds holding like 300 songs each. I was a god of music.

Man I remember my MP3 walkman from like 2010
It was something like pic related. It had 1gb of internal storage and you could just hook it up to the PC like a normal flash drive. The battery lasted fucking forever and it took so little time to charge too.
Now I just use my phone for music like every other person, but that little shit was the best back then

Last major game I downloaded was MKX, and that was around 50 gb at release, and later an update that was another 30 gb.

100gb games is the result of lazy developers using higher storage capacities as an excuse to not compress their games. On the flip side uncompressed games generally perform better.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has a massive world but the game is only a bit over 3gb. Nintendo compresses their games as much as possible because they're jews with their Switch cartridges.

>1 gig of internal storage in 2010
That sounds wrong. I'm pretty sure I was running around with a Sansa Clip with rockbox due to /g/'s influence at the time.

>mfw I'm still rocking a 500GB HDD as my primary data storage
the OS is running on a SSD though

I think we hit a wall with the i7. We're stuck at 14nm or whatever the current process is, and now the only thing CPU companies can do is put more cores on everything.

sauce?

Considering you can regularly find 128gb cards on sale for under $10, the business model focuses on volume

>We're stuck at 14nm or whatever the current process is
ayylmao

Looking around is giving me meme50 but I don't fucking know which one that particular picture is from.

meme50

Switch can but yeah not a phone. And it costs more than a Switch itself lmao.

>256mb
I wish!

Attached: Muvo.jpg (259x194, 6K)

I still use my mp3 player instead of my phone for music. Too much of a drain on my phone if I were to play music on it and I don't feel like carrying a huge as fuck power bank with me at all times.

Thanks!

>Bought a 128GB Sandisk for my hacked N3DS
>It finally died on me while I was putting stuff on for my holiday

Attached: 1442729804259.jpg (800x800, 476K)

What cheap chink shit phone do you have. Fucking hell my note 8 lasts all day even watching videos and shit. And playing music has damn near zero effect on battery life

How’d it die on you? Didn’t know it could do that normally.

It gave me an error while I was transferring some DS Roms and the files got corrupted.
Couldn't even move anything from the card because it gave me some error message about filenames

Some systems freak out if the filename contains Kanji/Kana without the proper language packs. You could try deleting any files that you see with Japanese text before trying transfers.

I couldn't see any japanese fonts, just gibberish

>meanwhile i'm rocking a 500gb HDD

>Bought a 64bg card recently so I could download more shit on my 16gb phone.
>Android doesn't let you use SD cards as internal storage anymore.

Fuck those changes cunts, I managed to transfer some apps to it after enabling some developer options but it is not exactly the way I wanted.
