You know I just got through DMC2 and I think people give it a bad shake. It played alot better than dmc1. Sure the environments are bad but I've seen worse, the analog combo system is pretty cool as well as all the DTs. I mean is anyone really REALLY gonna complain about guns when they aren't even that good? Yes they start launchers on weaker guys yes thats kinda silly but you know what else is silly? Holding down a button for like 5 seconds then insta killing everything around you or the grenade in dmc1 or spiral or lady in dmc5. Besides you aren't going to get a stylish rank. And the bosses aren't even that bad. Remember the guy who was a building? He was cool! So was that guy who hunted you down with his dogs. Cool fight! And heichi sips on wine and fires a revolver and thats cool. And how about that final fight huh? Pretty swell. I mean sure infested chopper kinda sucked at the end of a cool platforming segment but remember that worm from dmc3? Or the dumb whale? Or I know griffon 2. Yeah he was real tough. Oh how about the GLASS WALL in dmc4? And you know dante isn't the only character in this game. Lucina has her own disc! I mean easily dmc2 is the biggest game in the franchise content wise. Unlike DMC4 all 20 missions aren't just a total rehash, they actually have some new level design and even a under water segment. Lucina is kinda fun as an agile hit and run ranged character, sorta reminds me of bayonetta. Certainly better than lady in SE. I think the first three dmc games are a complete solid trilogy of action games. Sure 3 is the best and there is some nostalgia factor for 1 but don't act like 2 didn't have some good things going for it, as an early ps2 action game it more than lived up to the name.

Dante's style switching and newb friendly Nero. DMC3 DMD is harder for more bullshit reasons. DMC4 is also unfinished so expect backtracking when you get to Dante's parts of the game.

First thing is first you are gonna have to sit your pretty little tush down until you play nero. Get nero's max act asap. What is max act? At the ending frame of a hit time that rev button and get a boost from your sword. Also you have a grab on your circle button now. Also snatch is you new trick. Also in the castle head left mash snatch to get through that FUCKING area and then loop back around to unlock the beyblades then head east. Uh....don't forget that after the armor factory section you have to go back to the bridge you can counter/catch almost everything with nero, his grab works on bosses when they are stunnded aaaaaaaaand the teleport for dante in the forest is UNDER the bridge. That should be it. Also stay in the air more often, enemies will surround and fuck you on the ground more agressively so master that enemy hop tech. Anything else? Oh right TRICKSWORDTRICKSWORDGUASWORDTRICKSWORDTRICKGUTRICKSWORDGUATRICK

I am trying to learn how to reave shotgun jc in 4 and its so fucking hard

I got reave JC nailed down, but the shotgun has this odd timing to it where shooting too early causes it not to fire, and either I am always late or its impossible to fire it that quickly

But his unapologetic edge is why people like him.

DMC2 is a failure of ideas. Yeah, Bolverk is great but the game fails to be an engaging game. Execution is important. Enemy AI is the worst in the series. Animations feel lackluster and without impact. Would I like DMC2 to be remade? Yes. Would I like some aspects of it come back? Yes. Do I think it's a good game? Hell No.

3 is way harder. Dante in 4 takes some using to due to style switching and feels kinda underwhelming damage wise.

is 5 going to have confusing as fuck maps like the other games? where you have no idea where to go and literally walk around the same fucking rooms over and over again hoping to stumble upon the next fight?

Yes. Looks like it's way better to use EX Griffon or EX Shadow than Nightmare at the start since Nightmare is slow and disappears so fast. There are some areas that apparently open a alternate route if you use Nightmare in them though.

Nero is incredibly strong and requires less skill once you learn to charge shot while in combat (switch gun and devil trigger) and exceed.

Dante has a high skill floor incredibly high skill ceiling due to less damage but 5 styles at once.

Level design fucking sucks, bosses are great.
Play through it once, then spam BP, possibly with the trainer for boss rush

My most hated change is how roundtrip re-replaced pierce but also it's not quite as good as it used to be. But yeah I feel ya, every devil arm in the game could do nuts damage IF you knew exactly how to use them, dante in 4 is combo until stun until real impact dist repeat.

After replaying 3 a bit with Beowulf coming off playing 4 with Gilgamesh, I can say that the way 4 handled straight was a mistake. Like, I get that the intended for Gilgamesh to be all about charging and having draw before straight helps with that... but in the end, if I wanted some space between an enemy and me, I'd just moved by myself. That didn't need one move that required a second prompt to activate straight. They should've just give straight less distance with less charge like they did with uppercut. If they really wanted to not have another stinger-like move, they should've just switch inputs with uppercut so it's SM exclusive and kept kick 13 where it is since they gave it a fancy variant during DT like stinger and pin-up and all that. Also it feels like Beowulf has way better tracking when it comes to attacking after a charge, which makes Gilgamesh a lot more punishing. And kick 13 isn't cancellable what the hell. And giving Gilgamesh the hammer would've been cool. Also Lucifer takes forever to execute goddamn.

I finally beat DMC3! Vergil only took a couple of tries, he seems really weak to shotgun blasts to the chest. Did swordmaster for the first half but then grinded out gunslinger because I found it a lot more fun and completely stuck with it since.

Not sure if I want to do the Vergil story, my arm's strained as hell and I don't want to fuck it up before DMC5.

On higher difficulties where fucking up one-shots your summons, Nightmare will probably be used for either his Meteor or bellyflop move to revive your other summons and dismissed so you can save meter from your fuckups.

I hope he gets increasingly pissed off as the game progresses.

Like, they put a shortcut combo after two delays, but that shit takes forever to execute and only puts four swords into enemies, even though Dante looks like her ATATATAing them to death. And the first two hits of the combos don't put swords into enemies, why? Why couldn't they just give a more immediate way to put swords on enemies? Or make the combo ender be extendable like million stab so I can at least get more bang for my buck? I played the demo for the first time the other week without even realising that the game had the Exceed mechanic, I just spammed basic attacks with the odd uppercut here and there. To be fair the feathers don't seem to appear in the demo, just in this screenshot from he website. Maybe it'll be a story related upgrade.
Also demons with bird or angel wings are common sight in DMC, like the Empusa, Griffon or Mundus' statue form.

Nero got hurt his arm protecting Kyrie from demons. He heard a voice telling hin to strive for more power. Nero makes the monologue in 4 when he activated DT. The arm healed but it became the Devil Bringer.

Gerbera is arguably the most broken DB because it gives you extra mobility, both of it's breakages have good crowd control/stylish points, and both of it's normal attacks are too quick to be interrupted & broken by enemies

Punchline does the most damage with its Breakages in the demo so of course people gravitate to it

You have to remember, the Biancos were designed to look like angels, the Altos are sealed in matching armor to look similar and Agnus, Sanctus and Credo were able to define their own appearances to some degree. These games timegate and hard limit the f2p returns. Most p2w mechanics have direct power purchasable which limits your intended grinding time for weeks to months to 5 minutes.
DMC4 didn't do that.

You could exhaust daddy's credit card but there's no need to; the upgrades you buy just off move types, not increased damage. Nothing you buy will make you stronger, it just increases your number of moves. Not only this, the game gives you about 10,000 orbs in a short, cut down demo that only has maybe 3 fights. In a full level you should be getting about 60,000 orbs never mind Dante's Faust Hat which increases the amount of orbs you get.

So you could theoretically empty your daddy's credit card but if you do so you're an idiot and you're going to be left with moves that you still aren't experienced enough to use. I honestly don't see why else Capcom would put in MTX besides just ticking off a box on a checklist.

Spamming a move would make any move boring.
