Why does Yea Forums never talk about this game?
I remember as a kid I had a blast playing with my creature and the graphics were mindblowing for the time

I really want to play these games but there is currently no easy way to get them. What’s the likelyness of them ever going on steam?
they're abandonware you can just google for a download
not sure how they work on modern windows
Too bad multiplayer was so shitty. Creature AI only amounted to walk creature over and nuke temple.
How come they are abandonware?
If I had to guess it's because the game is older than the majority of Yea Forums's userbase nowadays
It's too bad Fable 2 & 3 killed lionhead
lionheart studios doesn't exist anymore and EA doesn't care about it
not sure who has the copyright
First one is great, second one is shit.
EIDLE EIDLE EEE
It's other way around, retard.
You seem to have brain problems, zoomer faggot.
ive tried it years ago and it was boring
Don't include Fable 2, that was a good game. It was actually Fable Legends that killed lionhead, it was over-budget and behind schedule.
Its because Black & White is a highly advanced tamagochi with 0 replay value and we played it 15 years ago.
>Fable 2
It sold pretty damn good for the size of the team so you're wrong about that one
being console exclusive did wonders for lionhead.
It’s not a rts like age of mythology?
>Fable 2 was a good game
I want you to leave this board forever
>zoomer
I'm 30 you fucking dipshit. The second was better in everything. First one was a boring, broken mess.
I agree, also played the first after Fable 2 and it was boring as hell. Just remember casting magic swords and damage shield basically being a God. 2 felt more skill bound and centered more on offensive ability use than defense.
I liked the first which is why I was interested in the second, but it was definitely better in almost every way
Fable 2 wasn't just a good game it was a great game and you're a tasteless faggot.
>Fable 2
>Meet reaver
>This guy gives you a reason to hate his fucking guts every time you see him
>Defeat lucien and listen to his ending spee
>Reaver shoots him before you can
>Ha ha fuck you faggot I'm out!
Reaver was the shittiest human being in that entire game, and they don't let you kill him.
"But muh steven fry gay rape fantasy"
First on is art, second one is ok
Throw me around, you think I care?
Second one was shit, they changed the focus of the game.
Fun fact, you could feed the invulnerable people to your pet and they'd survive. Eventually they get shit out screaming lol.
t. furfag
My disk always crashed on a certain mission
Black and white was so fucking fun. Probably the best game I played as a kid. I loved the fantasy of it and how it worked gameplay wise. Tiger best avatar.
my cousin insisted that you could kill this guy, and if you did his wife and child would be by the campfire, shaming you for killing him
and they were also invincible
Still have no idea if he was lying or not, I can't find any info on it online, but info on the game is sparse as it is. he was never the "mew is under the truck" type, though
Because I don't want to remember the wasted potential and broken promises. Fuck you, Peter, I hate you.
You're cousin is full of shit.
I got bored on that map waiting for my influence to spread and took it out on that invincible mother fucker. Discovered you have a small area of influence around him and you can toss him into the next village for shenanigans.
Then again I haven't played this game in decades.
i played b&w 1 a shit ton. but i never figured out how to make my creature bigger like the ones in the screenshots. i never found out how to unlock other creatures either. to this day i'm not even sure if your creature can reach those enormous sizes at all. it kinda feels that all the creature potential was marketing bullshit and you really couldn't do much with it.
Playing evil was such a fucking chore, enemy always had armies that are 20x bigger than yours and you could never achieve the amount of population needed to get even close to their number. Also hated how the enemy creature is able to come back quickly after your creature beats the shit out of him. You can't even get to the enemy capital without it popping up again and bringing a shitloads of fresh army.
I actually tried to systematically exterminate the japs to lower the population, but they still manage to shit out armies no matter what. This is the only reason I never bothered past the first few missions.
Why is the god game genre dead?
I remember buying this shit and playing it for like 15 minutes. i got to sell the tf2 hat i guess
I mainly remember how much was promised for b/w that was never even remotely delivered. It was a weird period in gaming where developers could get away with the most insane lies prior to release.
Like what?
>It was a weird period in gaming where developers could get away with the most insane lies prior to release.
So exactly like today?
it wasn't what I thought it would be.
I hoped for a spiritual successor to Populous the beginning but all we got was a rather empty shove dirt puzzle.
but it was pretty fun reshaping island chains into one large fertile landmass using those wells springs and what not
>not sure how they work on modern windows
not very well i'm pretty sure, is why nobody talks about it, good games but managing to play them in a decent state these days is either a huge hassle or impossible
brb gonna go look for mods
It's impossible to find it on steam, gog, or even origin. So, no easy way to find it means only people who've already played it would even talk about it.
The games really don't have much left to talk about that hasn't been said already, sadly. Fable really overshadowed them as the thing people remember about lionhead.
remember finding out your animal could hug and kiss the other gods animal in skirmish mode.
it was odd and cute and made me feel a bit bad for playing on a fan map with dozens of those ultima destruction spells
It took TONS of playtime to get your creature to even be half the size of the tutorial lion.
It gained size faster if it slept in the temple pen.
it could have taken off later when internet was good, its a nice comfy casual game
good for co-op or something
can't skip tutorial or songs or whatever, fucking kill me
fuck id kill for a rerelease where they fix the fov and rendering
it delivered on most of the important parts, for its time it was incredibly interactive and detailed
Replayed BnW2 probably 3 or so years ago. It worked fine on W8, you just have to get it from some tracker. Don't bother with the expansion tho, it's trash.
Mainly the AI, the abilities of your pets were hugely exaggerated and their learning abilities.
>black = EVIL
>white = GOOD
AI was overblown.
Because Yea Forums is 50% zoomers who weren't even alive back then and 49% resetera trannies who don't actually play video games
Not him but I remember A LOT of elitists (proto-Yea Forums) shitting on B&W when it came out because of failed expectations.
Anyway, I'd take the first one over the pseudo-RTS any day.
OHHHHHH WE'VE GOT THIS NOTION
A lot of fucking retards. First game is a unique experience, the second one went in the wrong direction with the RTS focus.
I don't get why this game gets so much praise in this thread.
I was super-hyped about B&W when I was a kid. The game magazine I was subscribed to did a monthly developer diary detailing the progress Lionhead Studios made.
When it finally came out I played until the third world and then lost interest. Couldn't even admit how bad it was to myself, I just figured it was too complicated for my stupid kid brain.
One or two years ago I had another crack at it and HOLY SHIT is it bad. There's ZERO depth when it comes to village management, creature management is extremely intransparent and tedious and the sidequests are so basic it isn't even funny. Hit this hut with a rock, cast that miracle, gib wood and food, they require grade school level of puzzle solving.
The only thing B&W has going for itself is charme, I guess. I dare everyone in this thread who praised the game to sit through the entirety of its campaign. I promise you'll get bored and quit by world 2 because it's as deep as a puddle and there's literally nothing to do while you wait for the game to progress. It's all gimmicks and charme and it gets old after an hour.
I want to reemphasize that I can't remember ever playing a game that is as boring as Black and White, the game gives you NOTHING to do while you wait for your borders to grow and your villagers to generate mana. I can't think of any other game that just forces you to sit back and wait like that, every other city building game has at the very least a fast forward button for boring stretches or gives you stuff to micro-manage. There isn't even anything you could micro-manage in Black and White except for your creature.
From Dust killed my optimism in videogames forever. I just wanted a new Black and White and I'm still mad that I didn't get it and that I didn't do the research prior so I could've saved myself money and disappointment. I'll never get that ignorant bliss back.
Fuck do I want another Black and White 1.
Especially now that VR is a thing, tossing folks and petting animals until they're as tall as I am would be great.
Why do you spell charme with an e?
Are you from ye olde countrye?
I'm from Germany, in my fury I accidentally spelled the word in my mother tongue.
I was pretty skeptical about your rant, but if you're actually a German and got bored with a game like this, I might have to reconsider my stance.
I don't see the problem, my dear tumblrtard.
Have you played the game? If you did what was your experience with it?
If you haven't played it I highly recommend trying it out just for a giggle. Read some old 10/10 reviews for the authentic experience of the clash of expectations vs. reality. It's videogame history and the first instance of review gaslighting I remember.
Why is it that BLACK is considered evil? Why not WHITE? Is the black chess player evil because he's black? No, they're the same. Being a racist is NOT lit.
from time when molyneux was making great games. b&w probably his last good one.
EA has the copyright as you can see on their goddamn website, you fucknut. Did you think it'd magically go away?
shutup nigger
>Is the black chess player evil because he's black?
Yeah, in early chess the black side represents the invaders and the white (or red depending on the version) the motherland.
I still have physical copies of this game feels goodman
I tried playing it again a couple of years ago and even then i still think its hard as fuck
I cant get past land seven
fucking earthquake wonder fags
Probably because it's essentially a fork of the RTS genre which is also pretty dead. Also ironically enough for a genre about being God it's pretty limited in what the game can be 'about', although it would be fun to see what a competent dev could do with a modern physics engine in a game.
Funny thing even in african culture black is considered evil (see black/white juju)
my problem with black & white 2 is it's too easy to just build what's recommended to me and win the game. or if i want to make it go faster i just spam temples or coloseums. even the final aztec land is easy as hell
I liked this game too
This game is easily one of the biggest cock blocks I've ever experienced and I'm still angry I spent money on it. I thought I'd be reliving the Populous days of spawning a volcano on a village full of suckers, and it's just a shitty 'learn the pattern' puzzler.
I played it around release, but I don't remember all that much. My brain is currently very scattered but even with a clear head I'm not sure I'll remember much.
I do remember being deeply enamored with it, though. The last time I tried to play it I gave up because I couldn't get any sound to work other than death. Incredibly disheartening to not hear the boat song.
Not quite one of my favourite games of all time but I remember it fondly.
When I return to it some day I'll think of you and your criticisms, user, and try to be impartial about it.
You spent your entire story getting chased by BLACKS and (((REDS))), Alice.
You're speaking from a looking glass of privilege.
The last level was bullshit.
My monster shrink literally to microscopic size.
Imagine a modern take on this with up-to-date materials physics, terrain manipulation and a world that had "realistic" town and cities with more than 30 people in a level at any one time.
why are niggers such racists?
