I'm going to try it out of sheer curiosity. I started WoW pretty late into vanilla so I'm not in the dark as to how it was. I was a filthy clicker back then and want to try it out knowing how to properly play now. You also need to forget just before BC launched they forced many servers to split, so many high pop realms became low pop realms before BC's launch, for example one of the most populated realms, Silver Hand, had forced transfers to sentinels, and because of this both servers became dead realms instantly, so you were fucked if you happened to be on one of these realms.

It's not bait. I started playing on tbc realm with like 2k people. And when I was leveling, the only low lvl dungeons I managed to go in was wailing caverns. And after that nothing, wasn't able to find anybody to do for example ulduaman even if I had quest for them. When I went outlands the only dungeons I made before I got 70 lvl were hellfire ramparts and nothing more because basically wasn't able to find anyone for anything else.

The real dungeon doing started when I went 70 lvl and got these keys for heroics and made respec into tank to abuse the actual problem with tank deficit. For some reason I had to make a big break of wow and returned when it was 3.3.5 patch and started playing on new realm, created a new character and discovered dungeon finder and decided to give it a shot and play as a tank (because protection warrior on 3.3.5 was an Overpowered questing machine so I leveled as prot) and it was so great that there allways had chance to do any vanilla dungeon it was first time I did any vanilla dungeon what wasn't WC, it was my first time when I did any low lvl tbc dungeon what was not hellfire ramparts.

Dungeon finder made low lvl dungeons very alive. And trust me it will be good to put this in wow classic.

Everything wont be released in the first 6 months though, They've already said doing it in a 4 part cycle, However Blizz will be stupid to not release TBC/Wotlk expansions.

Retail players say in BfA if more than about 50 people are in the same immediate area the server shits the bed and it lags horribly, in Vanilla 50+ people being in the same area happens in basically every zone and capital cities have a shitload more than that running around.

I don't see a way they can feasibly stop this lag from happening without investing in new infrastructure for Classic, which they absolutely won't be doing, we're just going to be playing on the current server cloud with different code running.

There's absolutely no way I can see they're not going to shard huge events like raid openings and the AQ event, which is fucking horrific and that alone makes me doubt whether I even want to play long term.

The vast majority of the work needed to port the game to the modern engine is simply that they have to manually update their database structure. No it isn't. The Databases are what they have to be updated, you don't even understand the words you're typing. They even did an entire panel at Blizzcon about this, about how their database structure had to be updated to make it compatible with the modern engine being 90% of the work.
You aren't worrying about nothing, you're worrying about baseless shit you're making up in your head out of nowhere. There is absolutely no reason for Classic not to be able to use multiple threads, the engine is already updated and there's no reason there would be a compatibility conflict with the new version for the purposes of Classic.

People that play MMOs like a single player game should get shot

Because it
1) removes the need for communication, making any interaction reduced to the bare necessities of the dungeon.
2) removed the need for patience, since you barely had to do any real work
3) removed the need to see it through, since you could bail at any time and get a slap on the wrist
4) removed anything special about the dungeon, making it just another chore

If you add that shit into classic, what you get is a bunch of low energy idiots demanding instant gratification, not knowing how to communicate or coordinate, who don’t take the game seriously and might flake at any time.
For classic in particular, that’s an absolutely horrible attitude to cultivate, and this isn’t even touching on the fact that multiple dungeons had very high level brackets, which were only manageable in retail dungeon finder due to heirlooms.

They had the perfect balance in TBC’s notice board system and they fucked it up magnificently.

They can, but will they? There are always people in these threads saying that if you want to socialize with people in groups, then just start talking. However, there is no guarantee that they'd talk back, and even if they do, it's likely to be short responses because they're focused on clearing the dungeon rather than socializing.

There are a couple of reasons why dungeon finder affects how much people socialize in groups. The first is breaking the ice. Despite looking for people to your group, asking to join, etc are not much, it's still some kind of social interaction that helps in breaking the ice. People will be more receptive to talking after something like that. The second part has to do with gathering the group and traveling to the dungeon. These are downtimes that are useful for socialization. When you have nothing else to do but run to the dungeon, you're more likely to engage in conversation. You have nothing better to do after all. By teleporting people to the dungeon immediately, you are put in a situation where there are better things to do. Mash buttons to kill stuff to get stuff faster. Lack of downtime (drinking) also contributes to this.

Humans are naturally social, but they often require a small push to interact with strangers. Dungeon finder removes that.

I look forward to the zoomers playing and crying they can't solo content or collect mounts or transmog or other cringey shit. Classic is gonna be a great zoomer filter.

Played on nost for some time, had several groups where I had a good time. One SM run was especially memorable, when all of us were underleveled as fuck for it and had to actually work hard to clear it. You may need some degree of difficulty too to keep things fun.

I hope they do some whacky shit. Like the artifacts dropping, but only once for each server. Similar to the talisman of the binding shard. The catch: you will lose the artifact if you log off for too long of a time(like a week) or die.
Either a player picks up the item or it just despawns after a while and a random boss from an instance gets it. The boss is then scaled to level 60 if it is a lowie dungeon.
The boss gets new abilities akin to the artifact. Once a group has killed the boss, you can enter a portal into a FFA arena to claim the artifact(s).

I think that's inevitable either way. I feel like most people that are going to stay for longer than a month after getting 60 are probably just gonna run all the raids until they get geared and then move on. The vast majority of people playing on private servers are turbo casuals, they enjoy leveling, dungeons and 20 man raids. Even 14 years ago less than a hundred guilds actually killed WoW's final boss. Compare this to the millions of players that were playing vanilla, these min/maxing spergs are a drop in the ocean.

It's either going to be good and I'll stick around on the official server, or it'll be bad and I'll go back to a private server.

Yes. Though if you play paladin/mage/warlock there won't be class trainers for you, which will make things very hard. The quests are all available, though running there takes a bit of time. If you want there faster, I suggest learning the exploits to get to IF airport so you can go straight from dun morogh to menethil rather than running all the way through wetlands.

And if you want saber mount, doing this is extremely recommended because rep gains go down if you overlevel quests. You can reach exalted by 40 (and if not by 40, then at least by ~45 when you complete feralas quests). Not being the starter quests while you're low level forces you to donate runecloth which is an expensive ordeal.

I focus on min maxing like an autist and I've been enjoying vanilla through private servers for the past 4 years.

Yes, we call that balance.

AoE farming is lucrative as is. The penalty of it is that it will take you some time to loot everything. The weaker the mobs you farm are and the more you kill, the larger the effect. This, in a sense, balances it, allowing other farming methods to reach somewhat similar levels of viability. A single method being the only viable option makes for an unfun game.

And the other balance is the aforementioned class balance. In general the classes that can aoe farm farm gold the fastest (hunters excluded). Some extra time spent looting lessens the differences in farming capability. You want your game to be balanced after all, though not at the cost of class uniqueness.

For half of those you rely on other people not being around. On dead servers or private servers with altered spawns you could possibly manage, depending on how inflated the prices are, but usually you'll fall way behind what lasher farming gets you. There is a good reason why chinks primarily farm lashers for gold. 30g/h is also essentially the minimum that DM E gets you.

Shamans were only worthless at PvE if you were DPS whereas being resto you topped the healing charts.
If you were ss/resto for PvP you were practically invincible.

Vanilla is unironically a solved game and the gap between people that haven't played and pserver autists will be massive look at modern pvp compilations and legacylogs cleartimes
It will be super hype for about a month, then the problems will start appearing with reserve runs and certain guilds completely dominating the economy
