5 hours in and kinda starting to think Sword Art Online isn't so bad. When does this get good?
5 hours in and kinda starting to think Sword Art Online isn't so bad. When does this get good?
sao is shit compared to .hack
I hope you're right cause so far, there is nothing of value except for the forum stuff
Nice fucking bait, the .hack franchise as a whole is ten million times better in character writing, world building and the actual mechanics of the in universe games
Damn im playing this too, you get it from the Namco sale too? Really getting tired of Haseo screaming DIE every fight like a fucking edgelord, even when using different weapons, theres no change up in the voice clips. Atoli is also annoying as fuck, and it sucks tht the game forces you to shove her in to progress through the Arena. Meanwhile, i want to use Kuhn, but since Haseo just has to be an asshole 24/7 to everyone, he's always busy/offline. At least Pi stays consistently online after the first episode.
I'm using the japanese dub so I actually kinda like Haseo compared to everybody else.
You digging any of the characters? I am just getting nothing out of those two gay dudes in your guild.
IM RIGHTT HERE
Gaspard is literally Teddie amplified by 5. Benched as soon as i could. Silabus is "ok", he just wants everyone to enjoy the game, it does get painful everytime he expresses this just to get insulted by Haseo.
Pi is good, Kuhn is good, and Altoid is good if you're in episode 2.
>when does it get good
Around the middle of the second game
I'm only on episode 1 (5 hours in). Silabus could've had the potential to be Yosuke but man he is so generic he might as well be an NPC. From what I'm getting from you, I think these characters are overly nice and overly generic so Haseo can be an ass to them.
Kuhn is kinda growing on me but he hasn't really done anything yet.
Im playing with the English dub, so I've got Haseo sounding like Sasuke/Yosuke and Kuhn sounding like Yu/Adachi.
Sometimes i really wish the game would let me pick a dialogue option for Haseo during scenes, because fuck his reaction to things can be just over the line asshole, which just makes party members stay offline or busy.
Kuhn is a ladies man, and he will have a reasonable "fuck all you guys" moment in the 2nd episode. And also gives Haseo a well deserved wake up call during episode 1.
I actually prefer the first games, or at least the two that I've played. The combat in G.U. just really fucking sucks.
I had the exact same thought about dialogue options like a few minutes ago, and kinda made me appreciate other games that I used to hate.
The theme of the game is "growing up" though apparently, so if we made him not act like a sperg that would ruin his character.
I kinda found it amusing how he randomly acts like he has anger issues. I get he has a dark past but he is such a childish bitch.
I dont like that i cant manually swap weapons in combat and that switching is locked to using an art. I was hoping for some mixup potential of swapping weapons midcombo, so that was a huge let down.
it never gets good. its fucking terrible and the setting and music re all wasted potential even today
the only interesting part of the game is when you get to watch all of the hidden info discs at the end
No yeah i know all this is just leading up to Haseo learning the power of friendship, but the way its being handled is all over the place. I do hate having to log out to read emails every time I accomplish something to progress the main story, they really should have just integreted an in-game private message inbox.
The Salvador Aihara news videos are fucking kino to watch though, wish he was a party member or hope he is later on.
>that part when you can't exit the game
I actually really like the emails/forum. It actually gave me a chuckle a few times reading. Feels like the characters show more of their personality there than in any of these cutscenes.
Only saw the first Salvador episode but yeah he's pretty funny. Don't think he's important though, he's there for world building.
Kinda sad.
Damn shame. I'm going to hold on until episode 2 like the other user said, hopefully something interesting will happen.
LOOK
AT ME
Volume 2 is when shit really picks up, honestly. It’s always when you start seeing Haseo calm down and connect with people.
You are aware it is a they are PS2 games? I sure hope you aren't being a total retard and judging the games to todays standards? I mean you aren't that arrogant, are you?
>Friend informs me that they play the game with a headset and a controller.
Please explain, I don't understand.
What is the command on the controller for "cradle unconscious body of friend."?
What is the command for dramatically turning with tears in your eyes?
Are they speaking with their voices? If they are then how come there are emoticons in their subtitles?
Please help, I'm confused and stupid.
original games are better
this game is amazing and op is a cock-sucking self-insert fag
I started watching the //roots anime because I figured that since it was a prologue to the game, that i should watch it. Turns out it apparently spoils major plot points of the game after episode 13 or something. I'm on episode 9 I believe, can i just drop the show and get into the game? I'm pretty sure I understand the basic start.
I'm glad to hear, I like Haseo for the most part I'm just worried the rest of his cast won't pick up the slack.
I don't care about gameplay or graphics, but characters and story are timeless. I can pick up something as dated as Skies of Arcadia anytime.
Yeah. //Roots isn’t really necessary to watch.
Its a VR headset with a Nintendo Wii Nunchuk controller, and reading through some of the online news articles, people can play this infront of a computer while still having the headset and controller on. So i guess people choose what they're comfortable with, but its essentially advanced VR so it makes sense they can move however they want in the game.
Before you understand MC, you need to know that he used to be Sora from Hack/Sign and as Sora he had a major role in the series.
MC is completely fine. The hints they give about what went down in the past is pretty cool.
Makes me wish I was playing that adventure instead of the current adventure.
I wonder if the past games had more interesting party members.
Its sad to say but this trilogy with haseo is shit. especiallly when they just made the combat into 'Tales' . I much prefer the original trilogy with kite because it had some varied character and Kite's responses in conversation are pretty memey.
Haseo is pretty much sasuke til the third game when he finally gets out of his demon form. Everyone rides his dick the moment he meets him.
To varying degrees. If you aren’t already aware there’s a couple characters from the first series in G.U. as party members.
Don't think about
Kite, Orca, Balmung, Helga and Macha are really interesting characters and as user said there are a lot of retunees in GU playing under different IGN's
That sounds really awesome, can't wait to meet them.
Assuming you wont watch Hack/Sign to understand MC of GU
He gets data drained and falls into a coma, he doesn't remember any of his past life but he ends up playing in the same world again
kino
Original 4 are better
Well you’ve already met a couple by now. Also have you gotten to the avatar battles yet?
Dide i fucking WISH this game played like Tales, it doesnt even come close
I'm at the Arena, I just recruited the girl who looks like Shino.
Ah, then if you rush through the arena grind I think it’ll be an hour or 2 to get to the first avatar battle.
1-4 rape this pile of garbage.
Roots is fucking trash don't watch it anymore than you already have. I started it because I wanted to know why Haseo cared about Shino more and what the Twilight Brigade did. I wound up hating Shino and being confused as to why Haseo cared at all, it doesn't help that most of the show is them standing in a few set locations and moping half the time except for the rival guild that fucks off after Ovan is captured.
My only memory of .hack was SIGN anime on Animax way back.
Which anime and games are worth experiencing today?
I personally really enjoyed GU but felt that it's a downgrade from IMOQ in every single way, even in gameplay. IMOQ actually felt like you were playing an MMO while GU feels like a typical JRPG with action combat. The characters in GU were also a bit TOO into the game unlike IMOQ where you had a balance of diehards like Balmung and normal players like Mistral. I will never understand people that say GU is better
Watch Sign, play IMOQ and GU, skip Roots like the plague and after that look into the other games if you get hooked in after those
>remaster version
kys
You first let me know how that goes LOL
Not funny man
>I will never understand people that say GU is better
I don't think those people actually played the original games. They really seem to insist that GU's gameplay is much more engaging than the original 4.
It's almost like brainwashing.
Why do jews have big noses? because air is free!
>I don't think those people actually played the original games. They really seem to insist that GU's gameplay is much more engaging than the original 4.
Their loss, they'll never understand the joys of going into a dungeon solo and fighting tooth and nail using everything at your disposal to survive.
I’d kill for them to remaster IMOQ while retaining the combat system.
>mfw remembering link exist
Why was it so bad? Waited years to play a translated version and when i get it I hate everything about it.
>retaining the combat system.
This is the one thing I'm worried about them fucking up after how they made GU even easier. Too many idiots would bitch about the game feeling "dated" and force them to adapt a shitty mash x to win system
It never gets good, the fake internet is literally the best part of the game.
Who did you choose?
GU battle system is better on the original 4 you mostly spent on menus. Sure, it was more tense but it wasn't as engaging.
>The characters in GU were also a bit TOO into the game
It's not that they were too into it, rather this is how people talked on message boards back in the 90's. On the original 4, the people in the game were mostly trying to figure out what is going on whereas in GU it is already a known event so people were more knowledgeable.
Atoli
>I'm 5 hours in
>Well here's some mild spoilers from later on
>It's not that they were too into it
>Endrance
>Sakaki
>Sakubo
>Everyone that had anything to do with the arena
>Not too into it
The trap, after I encouraged his mental illness
Go back to any message board from the 90's and you will find role players who act exactly like Endrance.
I still don't understand why they can't churn out more of these games for you guys. They pretty much just rehash everything from the first game 2-3 times, so it's not like they take a lot of effort..
All three of them are not right in the head and two of them are underaged. I will give you the arena though, but I always saw it as e-sports assholes taken to the logical extreme.
Blame Bandai Namco, they keep CyberConnect on a tight leash and prioritize whatever popular anime is out to milk for even easier money.
I'm not arguing that people like that didn't exist, my issue is that every major character was like that and it got pretty annoying after a while when everyone was completely fucking autistic over R2
GU is the worst part of .hack, I'd even argue that versus and //link are better. GU is so fucking awful, from gameplay to story. The only reason they chose it over IMOQ is because people think that GU is any less monotonous when it's actually just rengeki spam.
Also recode changed the exp curve to where if you ever stray from the story dungeons you'll immediately shoot up 4-5 levels and rape everything.
In that context, Sakaki makes a lot more sense. Plenty of forums have mods that are power hungry children. Still fucking stupid though.
Seconded, although GU is not that great compared to the original.
You’re blowing it way outta proportion mate. They probably chose G.U. because it was the easier remaster, as well as a way to show BamCo that people still want .Hack stuff. I’m still optimistic that IMOQ will get a remaster one day.
Give me a quick rundown on link, what's so bad about it?
