What 3 games would you combine to create the perfect Pokemon game?
What 3 games would you combine to create the perfect Pokemon game?
Pokemon Emerald, Platinum and B/W2 (Yes it's 2, just pick one)
Pokemon Gen 2, Dragon Quest VIII, Breath Of The Wild
I'm not convinced Pokemon would work well in a fully 3D environment. It's better that things are abstracted behind 2D.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky
Breath of the Wild
Koikatsu
Pokemon Lets Go, Skyrim and Soul Silver.
Pokemon Crystal
Manhunt
Gran Turismo 3
Any Pokemon game since theyre all basically the same
Morrowind
Planescape: Torment
Open world Pokemon with great story, locations and lore.
Pokemon mystery dungeon, botw, and devil may cry(?)
I'm going tell you right now that breath of the wild pokemon would be just as shit as fallout 76.
Sonic Unleashed
DOOM
Tetris
Counting is hard.
If handled by Bethesda or Game Freak I would agree with you
classic wow, the sims, and Blaze Black 2
Persona 5 (engine), Black 2 and White 2 (Story) and Splatoon (Multiplayer)
pokemon
diablo
mount&blade
Xenoblade 2 or X for the locations and map size
Pokemon HG/SS as a reference for general gameplay and structure
Pokemon X/Y for the online.
Bully
Monster Hunter
Stardew Valley
Xenoblade X
Pokemon Black/White 2
Final Fantasy X
Monster Hunter Stories is literally a better Pokemon game than Pokemon design-wise, if only the combat wasn't so shallow.
I think the image below would be awesome. Botw was a shitty zelda game but a great exploring game. If that game had been pokemon instead, I think it would have been the better game, assuming gamefreak was actually capable of making a good pokemon game in 2019.
This game is doomed. I'm curious to see it, but know it'll look like the town most likely...so shit.
Dark souls. Witcher 3. BotW.
Dragon Quest XI for aesthetics
Final Fantasy XV for the world and traveling in it
Pokemon Black and White 2 for every thing is between.
Heart Gold, Black and White 2 and no third game.
The first one is the full title
GO
Etrian Oddysey
A mainline game
Reshape GO with the regular battle system for 1v1 PVP, turn Gyms and Pokestops into small EO dungeons where you can take up to 6 players/your team in and do horde-vs-horde fights
Make the EO guys code it so that Gamefreak or Niantic aren't allowed to make your phone explode
The scale of the world necessary to make a reasonable looking open world Pokemon game would be absurd. A normal game usually has 100-120 distinct species available directly in the wild and trying to give them all space to appear in a singular open world without it looking retarded just isn't really feasible.
Just look at how stupid the Let's Go games looked with a million different species on one map waiting for you to run into them. You need routes easily 20 times larger to space out the species especially since to make it look natural Pokemon should mostly be travelling in packs anyways.
dude... what if everything was a 3rd person open world that would be so kewl
dude...what if games don't evolve over 20+ years beside qol stuff
>Don't evolve
>The only thing the combat system shares between the latest installment (not Let's Go) and RBGY is fight, run, and item
I played stories and I can't say I agree. Yes having proper 3D areas is nice, but it still feels very restrictive in a way that's more noticable and unfun by comparison, and the way monsters spawn is annoying as fuck and makes finding rare or specific monsters far more tedious since you HAVE to keep l stay focused constantly and can't multitask the same way you could in Pokemon.
dude.. wait wait wait... imagine... Pokemon Battle Royale... on the Nintendo Switch
I feel the only issue with Pokemon being 3d is making the random encounters. You can have a full lush 3d world but it will seem very dam empty due to all the Pokemon being hidden in small bushes and crap.
If they could find a method of spawning Pokemon similar to the handheld games then it would be great.
NOT EVERY GAME HAS TO BE FUCKING BREATH OF THE WILD YOU FUCKING ZOOMER!!!
Pokemon Platinum (for Pokemon aspects)
Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Ruka's Journey (for postgame/side content/mon distribution)
Golden Sun 2 (for map design and puzzles)
Please tell me this was a bug or something. Was there seriously no attack animations for any of the moves?
Pokemon B2/W2
Minecraft (Modded)
Harvest Moon
A hack n slash type open world like Xenoblade Chronicles X where high level legendaries are there at the beginning but you don't fuck with them
Explain
I would love a Pokemon ecosystem honestly
yeah bros. Adding held items, tweaking the hidden stat values, and making a common sense move type switch definitely needed 20 years. I can't imagine other games being able to do better. Not like pokemon is the biggest franchise in the world
>Evolution to him is graphics
>He completely disregards gameplay
LIKE FUCKING POTTERY
>nintendo autists who buy roms and cardboard falseflagging as zoomers to defend nutendos absolute lack of effort in everything they produce
there's a generic animation for groups of moves but a short hop and graphics is literally it for a lot of cases
unless you're exclusively using the special snowflake Splashy Splash or Floaty Fall moves or some shit, in which case all 6 of those got a lovingly made animation because you were never supposed to actually use the other pokemon in your party this time lmao
the gameplay barely fucking changed you autist. Oh wow the hidden stats work on a slightly different system and moves make more logical sense. Oh wait, don't let me forget that passive held items. Surely nobody has ever thought of that. Get some fucking standards
>I literally cannot write a full sentence without being an insufferable newfag shitposter
>The gameplay barley fucking changed
I want you to look at this post right here
What I mentioned there is what true evolution would look like.
>Defends Pokemon
>Thinks it really takes 20 years to come up with the fucking small amount of changes they've done to the game
>Gameplay wise game still boils down to spamming your best attacking move because AI is fucking trash and doesn't really fight back
>And all that while they remove features of the games they release, even though they are the most successful franchise of all time
Monster hunter
Digimon world (ps1)
Breath of the Wild
>Cries about NPCs in a kid's game
Nice facebook meme son
I cantq
>underage nutendo autists defending every critique with shitty meme images and one liners that make no sense
the autism is palpable right now
Breath of the wild
Monster hunter
Pokemon mystery dungeon
>Moving the goalpost
Thanks for letting me know you are just as trash as the series you defend.
>Moving the goalposts
Nigger, I don't think you know what that means since you literally said
>because AI is fucking trash and doesn't really fight back
Pokemon Red
Serious Sam
DOOM 4
oh, sorry. here, i'm sure this one is more Yea Forumss speed, right?
some open world trash
some jrpg that's way better than pokemon
my pokemon gen that arbitrarily became my sacred cow
Pokemon Emerald
Stardew Valley
Dragon Age: Origins
trust me fellas
Pokemon HeartGold
Pokemon SoulSilver
Pokemon Pokemon Stadium
Nice facebook meme, son
>When Pokemon is so fucking awful that fans literally have to dream of a good game because they know for a fact Game Freak will never deliver one
Just drop the series already and move on. It's never going to get better. It's only ever going to get worse.
skyrim, oblivion, morrowind
Halo 3, Dark Souls, & Sonic Adventure 2
Pokemon HGSS
Pokemon Platinum
Pokemon BW2
They need to stop reinventing the wheel every time and remember what actually makes Pokemon fun.
>Fans
I promise you, meme autists on Yea Forums are not fans of the series.
I agree with you, but I don't think game freak being shitty should stop people from getting attached to [older game they like] or fan works. Pokemon's good in concept and you can totally expect fans and spinoffs to deliver on that concept
Stardew valley (maybe runefactory?) obviously, the game needs to capture the feeling of comfy companionship with your monsters outside of battling.
I can't think of an RPG that truthfully captures the things needed to make the in-fight gameplay of pokemon better. I think they need to fuck around with switching mechanics and nerf speed in a way that gives the gameplay more depth (My current thought is a once per mon cheer that lets you go first, if both cheer than the slower one tries harder and wins)
The third thing pokemon needs is an honest to god adventure through an interesting, cohesive and wonderful environment. Again I'm drawing a blank, anyone know what games capture what I'm going for?
No dude you don't get it, everybody plays it and does the cool reddit memes so I gotta be part of it, okey?
I played the game when I was a child and didn't know better, so that makes the game perfect in my eyes and I'm happy with gamefreak removing features and never actually deliver next gen features as long as I can press the A and hear the cool pokemon do his 8-bit sound.
this
The Last of Us
Bioshock: Infinite
God of War (2018)
I win.
You won that gay parade that you were aiming for.
this is me
I think we're imagining the exact same thing
I want the story to be something like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky, Dragon Age Origins captures alot of that feel but with more desperation and needed darkness that would fit a Pokemon set in an otherwise overly comfy world
I didn't realize it was for Pokemon. That would be more personal dream game. The masterful storytelling of The Last of Us; the bombastic gunplay of Infinite; the brutality and combo system of God of War.
>the bombastic gameplay of infinite
>The rest of this post
Come on dude, you didn't have to go and suck dicks in front of me too. I didn't want to see that.
As someone who used to be completely obsessed with Pokemon, XY, ORAS, and SM sure did do an amazing job at making me absolutely loathe the series. SUMO and LGPE were just icings on the cake. Not gonna deny that I don't still like the older games, or the concept for Pokemon, but that's about it. Nothing about the newer games treating me like a fucking retarded baby wants me to have anything to do with them, and I've since moved onto much better games that are far more worthy of both my time and money. If you support the godawful scam that is modern Pokemon, you deserve to be eviscerated for continuing to support games that only ever get worse with no amount of creativity put into them. It's time for people to move on already.
About the only amusing part of modern Pokemon games is watching them get worse and worse, and being able to shitpost about it. But I legitimately can't imagine the mindset of the person that actually enjoys anything modern Pokemon related. They've babyfied it so much that it's just irredeemable in my eyes. It's clear to me that there's not a single passionate person working on those games anymore, and they're so devoid of life that they feel like they're made by AI in a factory.
I actually think Pokemon needs to lean into the comfiness but also without losing that aura of grandiosity and significance that makes the adventure meaningful in the first place. I'm only a couple episodes into Made In Abyss but I think it represents what I mean with that comfy fantasy adventure aesthetic that isn't afraid to have a dark undercurrent that makes the comfiness more pronounced through comparison.
pokemon is shit and any 3 games in the history of all video games history would make a better pokemon game
Why do people constantly want Zelda and Pokemon games to not play like Zelda and Pokemon games
>People
Are Yea Forumsirgins really considered people?
Every game has to be open world because freedom and immersion.
It's instant gratification combined with raw escapism.
Dark Souls
TF2
Mystery Dungeon
Which one was the one where you can go into the caves and actually dig for fossils. That one was pretty dope. Honestly wished there was a game that was just more of that desu.
majima style
>participating in a discussion on Yea Forums instead of shitposting about ecelebs is desperation from fans
i haven't played pokemon in years but not caring about newer games doesn't disqualify me from talking on a cantonese boat building bulletin
>Zelda
It's Americans. Americans want Zelda to not be Zelda because they heavily misattribute the things that make a Zelda game Zelda. As an American, I will also admit to wanting some change in the Zelda formula but not the usual "uhhhhh make it steampunk and let me play as ganondorf".
>Pokemon
because Pokemon has sucked since it hit the 3DS and most people have given up on game freak making a good traditional pokemon game, understandably
BotW
RDR2
third thing
Because everyone pokemon game released in the last two decades plays the same.
Pokemon is full of wonderful monster designs and a fantastic atmosphere but the devs are lazy as fuck and make no effort whatsoever to improve or go beyond "okay" it's kind of a wasted property
>Pokken Tournament
>Mystery Dungeon
>Sun/Moon
>Play the same
Is no one gonna mention Ni No Kuni?
Monster Hunter base
Pokemon Themed
Animal Crossing style village
This person is correct
I gave up upon seeing LGPE. A remake of the first gen should have allowed them to make something truly wonderful. They’d only have to work on the first 150 and would allow so much more room to rework and expand so much and make a refreshing expansive take on the world. A remake of first gen should have given them a free ticket to this experiment With a massive overhaul, on top of reducing their assets and worrying about balancing 700+ Pokémon.
But no we got the shitty lazy copy paste of LGPE and the chance is forever squandered.
But user, Game Freak is just a lowly indie game company with a minor niche IP that they developed for an entirely new system! Game Freak even said it themselves that it was five times harder developing for the Switch than the 3DS despite the vast amount of freedom!
Why doesn’t Nintendo completely absorb them?
Just make a polished Pokemon Colosseum.
