I've watched back cover and played all of the KH games. I've read all of the reports. This epilogue was trash. Barely adds anything and is just more sequel bait. I already knew Xigbar was Luxu just from the reports.

While it's true that Back Cover barely touched on the actual plot of Union X, Kingdom Hearts 3 didn't really reference any of the missing plot either. Sure, that one soul you meet MAY have been Strellitzia (or it may not have been), and Chirithy makes an offhand remark hinting that Ventus was alive in the age of fairy tales, but that's it. All you needed to understand the epilogue was Back Cover.

I thought that was the whole point of Re:Coded, since Data Sora gets those memories back, and hearts are connected and all that, so the real Sora would get them, too. Like how the Twilight Town trio can sorta remember Roxas despite only their data versions knowing him. But nope, despite the game actually taking the time to remind us about Re:Coded, it didn't mean anything and Sora has to be reminded who Marluxia is. At the very least, Riku could have given him a quick recap between KH2 and DDD.

The Luxu reveal is probably one of the best KH plot twists because it's been telegraphed since the start that Xigbar/Braig has always had a bit more going on and basically gives every scene he's in more context and really shows that he's seen a lot more than you'd guess.
One of my favorite lines about this is in BBS where he says to Aqua and Ven

There are just way too many games and editions and I don't have money for them and if the story is good in the games why is it recommended watching slideshows and summaries of the stories?
