I know GTA3,4 and 5 didn't have duel wield. Maybe GTA5O had duel wield. But after playing Saints Row 2 where you can slaughter with duel pistols or Uzi's majority of the game and enjoy it. And also in GTA SA too. But why did Rockstar not ever add duel wield in 4 & 5. Was it because the shoot and cover system seemed more effective and real? Because just seems like a waste to not let the player enjoy duel wielding in GTA.

I never said you couldn't. But you have to remember, unless you're using some faggy buckler, you aren't going to be moving that fast. Your defense is through the roof, and any enemy stupid enough to get close will be bashed, but you can't expect a smart enemy to just sit there as you slowly get closer and just LET you bash them.

Speaking of, I started playing SAO Fatal Bullet yesterday since I remember Yea Forums having fun playing that.

OK anyway, so historically when two weapons were used together it was usually with a long and short weapon, almost never with two long weapons. There are some fencing manuals that show duels with two swords, but usually a shorter weapon is preferred in the off hand to block or parry with, or to use when distance is closed during a bind.
Like I said, normally you would use a shield or buckler with a one handed sword in Europe, but there are some examples in art of a dagger being used in the left hand along with a sword. Probably more of an opportunity situation rather than ideal. If you were in a fight and you only had a single sword and nothing else, and there was a sword on the ground, it would be sensible to pick it up so you at least have something to block with in the left hand.
Later on when thrusting swords became more common, parrying daggers were often used in place of bucklers because it allowed more control and trapping techniques for an opponents blade. Small bucklers are good at blocking cuts, but when thrusting is the main method of attack, they're not as useful.
In Japan the wakizashi was often used with a katana, but their warrior class doesn't have extensive use of shields, and the peasants couldn't even own swords, so they had no need for any off hand weapons. When they went to war they used spears and large shields.
In India I have seen artwork of people using long bladed pata along with a talwar, but Indian weapon culture is really weird. They have some really cool and really useful looking ideas, and some totally fucked up autistic ones.
