this is my first yakuza game, and I was excited to play it after how hyped up Yea Forums is about it. But then I realized you just walk from cutscene to cutscene and maybe have some 30 second gameplay segment shoehorned in. What is so great about this game you fuckers?? The gameplay isn't even that impressive, it is fun but doesn't have much depth. And holy shit, this game must have a worse cutscene to gameplay ratio than mgs4.

I never mentioned that i didn't like the characters, shit games can still have good characters, but I wanted to play a game not watch a movie. how the fuck does every other game with a shit ton of cutscenes get shit on but somehow yakuza, which is honestly one of the worst offenders, get a free pass?

don't be one of those plebs that skips the side content and doesn't explore. there's a lot of really amusing things in the side missions, and they do reward you for doing them. they break up the monotony of just doing story missions. if you don't wanna do a 100% because you're just not interested, i understand and wouldn't recommend it, but i would recommend _attempting_ a 100%, and skipping what doesn't interest you.

i was really impressed by the completion point system mechanic as it creates an incentive to explore the side content, and only after completing something is it revealed to you how helpful the reward items can be. that really helps drive the meta of the open world and makes it so much more interesting.

The side content has good story and humor, but again, very little gameplay. My issue with this game is not the plot, writing, and characters, but rather the criminal lack of gameplay. The game borders on VN level of "gameplay," and if thats what you want thats fine, but at that point why not just make it an actual VN, movie, book, etc?
