Keep the non-arguments and ad hominem coming, its not like you could come up with a legitimate point to make, I understand.

It's okay user, you're ugleh.

cringe and bluepilled
you dropped this

Attached: new-icon.png (256x256, 20K)

Removing random crits would negate the risk benefit analysis from a lot of classes and make them play differently.

For example, I'd literally ditch the ubersaw for solemn vow forever, because the only reason to use the ubersaw is random crits.

Why is every spy using this thing now?

Attached: 250px-Conniver's_Kunai.png (250x164, 20K)

>only reason to use the ubersaw is random crits
You retard

If you can survive in melee range against any class but spy without random crits, you are playing against shitters.

The ubersaw is for one shotting an enemy and running the fuck away, not for standing around farming hits on an enemy heavy.

This.
Knowing the good spots to put a sentry is like 90% of engy.
The rest is teleporter for getting your team to the frontline faster

Did you mean the bonesaw? The ubersaw has legitimate benefits

Play comp

>get a nice heal with every backstab
The massive reward facilitates risky plays, especially with a DR.

WHY DON'T WE JUST GIVE UP, PARDNER?

Attached: pardner.png (191x238, 100K)

Attached: dude where's your argument.jpg (891x1280, 259K)

No, ubersaw is only good because you can sometimes one shot a soldier and run away.
If it takes you more than a couple seconds to kill your enemy in melee range, you're dead meat.
Considering that disguised spies don't refill uber on hit, it becomes really niche.

Attached: Argument loss.png (468x121, 5K)

Consider the situation in which the enemy has low HP but your companion has died. Every now and then, you'll be able to corner someone and get some uber off of them while getting a kill. If you get REALLY lucky, you may also be able to rocket surf into someone and snap them with the ubersaw, as well.

Attached: 1525348571208.webm (500x640, 336K)

Even in competitive the ubersaw is the most used of the medic melees, 25% uber for just -20% swing speed is NOT to be underestimated.
You use it as a last resort or to finish off weakened enemies, not for charging into a full health soldier

0.8 second attack interval for the Direct Hit.
0.6 seconds for the Loch-n-Load.

If you so much as glance away from your sentry for 1.2-1.6 seconds your level 3 sentry will die forcing you to retreat and try to salvage the dispenser and teleporter.

Attached: Sentry Busting.webm (960x540, 1.47M)

>You use it as a last resort or to finish off weakened enemies, not for charging into a full health soldier
Sounds boring.

Considering the direct shit is only good for killing poorly positioned sentries, that's the only thing it has.
No splash damage puts you at a huge disadvantage in all kinds of situations, considering how much this game loves choke points.

I use it as my primary, the thing is so broken. Once you practice with the direct hit your rockets will be more reliable than stock and you can one shot all the light classes at close range or use the buff banner to kill them and the medic at far range too.

Being able to 2 shot level 3's and 1 shot mini sentries is just the icing on the cake.

I know casual rank isn't a great indicator of skill but the amount of times I've gotten stomped cause my shitter team had 5 ranked 1-3 players who are playing the game for the first time everis annoying as fuck. It shouldn't be that hard to balance teams based on rank.

Getting auto-balanced onto the losing team that you just decimated in a casual match was a bummer, yea, but how long did that bummer last? 5 seconds? 10 seconds? It's not like there was a W/L ratio and there is no penalty to losing
I realize my post was worded poorly, I wasn't calling you retarded for not knowing I knew why it was banned, I was just calling you retarded for supporting the banning of it/thinking that somehow not knowing about a dumb minor exploit was a reason to ban a fucking cosmetic.
aren't jingle booties banned too or something? or was that made up

Frontier Justice, Wrangler, and the Robo hand that gives you the mini sentry. Given the right positioning it's a perfect shitposting tool of area denial; and if wrangled, a very fun way to pretend that you're a one-man machine gun team.

How bad are the rates for it? Is 2 cities considered the best since it's the shortest tour?

for a long time 2 cities was the only one to give out good rewards
i think they've fixed that by now but no one bothered to change

So is the only way to get australiums is with tickets?

I was playing a match and some tf2tuber joined along with his buddies and I don't if its me being a crotchety hermit but they were some obnoxious fucking people

That's why I do boot camp and mess around as demo knight with the half Zatoichi.

I got into man, DONT FUCKING BOTHER
you will play with people who want to win more, but you will not get your moneys worth
t. 80 tours and 2 aus blutsaugers (worth less than 20 bucks each)
I mostly crafted kits to sell for my next tickets, I think I still payed for over half the tours, easily

That, or money
Loads of money

Attached: 1462044546846.jpg (660x990, 187K)

Boot camp players are worse than bots and will go out of their way to make things difficult. I do not recommend it at all. Also community servers tend to be laggy, have gay server mods, or make it too easy.

2cities used to be the only tour that dropped aussies. Now they all do but since everybody practiced 2 cities they stuck to it. Personally I think gear grinder and mecha engine are more fun to play. If you want to play something new look for potato mvm servers. They run the titanium tank and canteen crasher campaigns and you get a badge for beating them with their own contracts. They're a lot of fun and have as much polish as official maps.

Why are people on this side of the argument so insuferable when it comes to talking about it ? I get it they think because its called casual it means its supposed to be played like a bitch who cant make an effort to save his life but why is it important to them that people like to play this game seriously in 12v12?

>tfw making 5000 dollars playing mvm and trading

Funded my entire library of steam games. Sure, it might not seem like alot today, but that's considering that I only put in 50 bucks as seed money. The rest came from me turning that 50 into 100, then 1000, then 5000. I had to abuse every trading loophole in the book, and even took advantage of a serious website design flaw at warehouse.tf. Good times.

No gunboats ?
NO GUNBOATS ?
Gunboats are great mang, they give you -60% damage from rocket jumps and are amazing at letting you rocket jump into combat, dive bomb, get to higher places, rocket jump away from combat and rollout out of spawn at the start of the round.

11/10 unlock, best one soldier got.

I don't remember the exact date but it was before Goldrush came out because i still remember the hype about new weapons and and achievement begging in voice chat. Got the game somewhere around new years of whatever year it was. It was a standalone copy of TF2 instead of the orange box because i'm a retard.

what about my teammates

gunboats are literally the best unlock in the game
if you're not using them you're not playing soldier correctly

unless you have a competent heavy on your team banners aren't worth using

I've been playing this since 2007 and it's probably my favorite game ever, but I really hate that custom servers are dead because now I only play on Friday/Saturday on a custom server that has people and everytime I play I just think that in a few years the game will likely be 100% dead

Well, considering you are better able to pick out engis and medics, you are effectively a better combat class for picks than spy and sniper with more survavibility and you can dish out damage and get away easily, youre doing great for your team.

Yeah no kidding, you can even cancel fall damage with a sync rocket if you manage to blast yourself with it right before you hit the ground, gunboats is the very peak performance of skill with the soldier.

Very sad to say but community servers are a bygone era and unless valve turns around and stops sitting on their money pile and that they actually update tf2 regularly again (even maybe starting a Tf2 renaissance, what with artifact dying on arrival and overwatch getting shat on), you might be right that it will die maybe half a decade at the fastest.

Attached: austalian man attempts to walk to the point.png (577x382, 272K)

As "better" the new panic attack is, the old one was "fun"

that's the result of bad sentry placement.

Sentries should be located where an enemy player needs to stand in the center of your team's main forces to shoot it. If hes shooting your sentry your team is shooting him.

I don't think it was fun for anyone outside the engy. which was essentially a faster shooting widow maker.

new panic attack fills a lot more interesting niche of insane burst damage to unsuspecting enemies trying to shoot your sentry.

Pubbers who complain about random crits are some of the worst people
>I want my balanced game even though a 12v12 game is impossible to balance because of the differing skill levels, the large amount of weapons and the difficulty in coordinating

It was great as fat scout. The reloading mechanic was great and it's a shame what happened to the weapon.

No one wants the game balanced besides comp fags. They want the game balanced for fun.

>Except for all that stupid shit in it
>Not liking one dumb mechanic means you hate everything about pubs

Random crits are the core of pubs. If you can't handle being killed randomly by someone worse than you, than you're taking a pub game too seriously.

its seriously that simple.
You want pubs to be predictable and comp like.
stop it.

>Random crits are the core of pubs
No they're not and you know this is bullshit. 12v12 functions perfectly fine without crits and there are so many wacky loadout combinations you don't need crits for randomness.

>Random crits are the core of pubs
They aren't, but only mad people take them seriously

>12v12 functions perfectly fine without crits
12 v 12 also works perfectly fine without multiple classes. Thats not an arguement against the core design being random crits that loosen the skill gap.
>there are so many wacky loadout combinations you don't need crits for randomness.
then why would you ever complain about the randomness of crits killing you?

I was going through my ancient folders to delete shit and found this, if only skins still worked in valves garbage mm.

Attached: makeupskin.jpg (600x1500, 172K)

>12v12 also works perfectly fine without multiple classes
So you think random crits are as essential to pubs as the classes themselves are you fucking retarded?
>then why would you ever complain about the randomness of crits killing you?
Because all those other loadouts I can outplay with skill, random crits are instant death.

no one cares about your pubstomping for montages

>So you think random crits are as essential to pubs as the classes themselves are you fucking retarded?

I never said that, you're clearly just upset and are projecting your anger on me.

>Because all those other loadouts I can outplay with skill, random crits are instant death.

Again, now you think you deserve to always win simply because you're better than everyone else. You think multiplayer games should felate you and only you because you put the most time into them. You also seem to treat the instant death like its actually a problem, when in most cases you can respawn and get back into the fight after 12 seconds. Which is roughly the time it would take to heal up the damage recieved from a normal attack.

>Again, now you think you deserve to always win simply because you're better than everyone else.
Have casuals actually taken over Yea Forums? Statements like this would've gotten you crucified.

tf2 is a casual game, you are tricking yourself if you think otherwise. Tf2 only existed to this day because of the casual concepts that made it so accessible. In fact it was heavilly lambasted for being so casual by the oldfags.

>Again, now you think you deserve to always win simply because you're better than everyone else

True, but it isn't like TF2 is supposed to be 100% devoid of skill. There are incentives to get better at your preferred class so your team can win. At it's core, TF2 is still a "competative" multiplayer class based shooter, just more laid back because of the team aspect compared to arena shooters.

biggest dick itt

tf2 honestly isn't that skillfull.

99% of encounters are won by teamwork or one player getting the drop on another. A random crit simply expodites this.

Randomly dieing because a random crit killed you first isn't a problem, if you got hit by a random crit you were seconds from dieing from the follow up shot. If not, you would have had the drop on them and they simply turned around and shot you before you could line up a second shot.

Which means 9/10 times the random critter was better than you.

the only bullshit random crits are when they weren't even aiming for you and the splash falloff is ignored. Would I be okay with this being toned down a bit? yeah possibly.

Attached: 1548602725157.jpg (1191x670, 82K)

>99% of encounters are won by teamwork
this isn't overwatch unless you're playing high-tier comp a single person can and usually does annihilate a team

Attached: crits.png (971x1045, 164K)

I'm not on either side of the Random crit argument, I was just mostly pissed at user's statement about how the player who plays better shouldn't win.

none of those elements in the first paragraph are random in the slightest, they're just non-uniform, which isn't objectively better but it's generally seen as better

No, unless the enemy team is brain dead.
If two people hit you at once you're going to die in most cases.

>overshit
>teamwork being a part of any of that awful game's mechanics

>about how the player who plays better shouldn't win.
why should they always win?
They should have a loss here and there to simply reward the opponent that is trying. if a better player always win, someone is going to simply never enjoy the game.

yea, and that's the beauty of tf2, if you're good at the game you can pretty easily avoid the attacks of a fair amount of the classes, and almost all if you're scout
my point was more that because of how it's forced 6v6 and how the characters are """balanced""" it's near-impossible for a 1v2 or more to work out favorfully in terms of the 1 no matter how skillful they are. it's a bad thing

I have the perfect game for you

Attached: overwatch2-1517.jpg (400x400, 51K)

yes thank you for validating me, I can now go to sleep without crying tonight

>if you're good at the game you can pretty easily avoid the attacks of a fair amount of the classes

Eh I don't think so.
Again unless they're brain dead, I do not believe there is enough mobility in this game to avoid most classes. Even for scout.

The small team sizes with the mechanics it has means it uses MOBA tactics. IE: If your team sucks, you can't do shit.

This is why git gud is used. If you lose, you find what you did wrong and get better at it. I should lose because I made a mistake and someone punished me for it, not because a system said julian.gonzales should get a turn. Besides that, you don't ultra mega winners in anything but 5cp, so if you play other game modes you can and will get better just by experience.

>it's another "i hate random crits, remove them" episode
no matter where you stand on the issue they're not getting removed, not after almost ten years

Attached: 1534003700249.gif (155x155, 986K)

outside of a sentry or a pyro it's not ludicrously hard to avoid almost all attacks from an enemy or two
your skill v enemy skill is obviously a factor, but a good scout's entire thing is about being in the air and avoiding shit

Agreed, which is why I don't have any say in the actual argument besides being against the "EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A GO" argument.

>If you lose, you find what you did wrong and get better at it.

I'm not going to go into a huge arguement about this, but git-gud is not a road that any game developer should follow. an infinite skill ceiling is cancer, if you think otherwise you are essentially enabling aimbotters.

almost 12 years*

Yeah I agree with having a skillceiling but there should be encouragements to reach that skillceiling. Taking turns means that no one strives to get better at all, which in turn becomes boring just like it would get boring if everyone was super pro.

Soldier shoots ground and pulls out shotgun while you're in mid air.
Demo stickies air
medic lets team handle you
Heavy uses natasha or shoots in your general vicinity
Sniper body shots you from a mile away where dodging doesn't matter
Spy... I'll give you that one.

if anyone can aim slightly they'll put enough chip into you to finish you off in two shots. if there are two players doing this you'll die before you can approach them.

It doesn't matter how good you are at dodging, someone is going to hit you in the end

obviously, you're not immortal, but you can certainly last longer than you would have otherwise

>soldier in the background isn't using the beggars bazooka
that would've made that image perfect.

The encouragement is that you are winning most of the time, or that you have an immediate advantage. Think map knowledge compared to someone new to the map, it shouldn't mean you should win every fight, but its an advantage. I Think the problem is that you missed that I said should not ALWAYS win.

the point is that two players will be able to nail you down and that team work will typically overwhelm you.

Just because you died once to a crit doesn't mean you can't try again.

I should add to this, that a good player has a 15% chance to crit, while a bad player has a 1% chance to crit. If that 1% chance for the player to automatically win a fight is too much for you... I honestly don't know what to say.

Mention 3 bad things from Uncle Dane

I think this might have been miscommunication on both our parts then. I am talking about that if a player has enough knowledge and can mechanically use his advantages he should win against someone who has less knowledge and less execution for any advantages he has.

Again, I don't have anything against crits at all, I have plenty of arguments for them, I just don't like the specific argument about giving worse players a way for an immediate win instead of encouraging them to get better at whatever class they are playing.

choke points or any flow facilitating map designs are necessary in any tactical game though

The thumbs up soldier in the background and the dead demo on the cactus always gets me

>wants to profit from the random crit argument
>wants tf2 to be a competitive esport
>thinks engineer is always viable

>he should win against someone who has less knowledge and less execution for any advantages he has.

I think he should win in most cases. I think there should be enough random variables for him to fail, and that if the gap in skill isn't extreme, they should have close to equal chance winning.

like a Professional player vs a newbie should win 95% of the time.
A pub star vs a slightly worse pub star should be 51%

Agreed with the skill gap argument. I dunno, this just might be me remembering back to TFC days and how I got dumpstered when I was first playing.

Does anyone else ever feel like they can just instinctively predict when an enemy is going to shoot the millisecond it happens?

Even when they're about to shoot you, if you strafe before they do it they always miss?

I've gotten away with dodging people for an entire magazine without even looking at them after they hit me one time. I'm not trying to brag, but it seems like a really useful technique.

and thats why its funny because random crits are so tiny and insignificant for bad players, that a brain dead player vs a pro player will only win 1% of the time.

If he hits them with the crit.

You are the cancer killing videogames. You are the reason overwatch exists and all other shitty AAA titles that hold your hand like a fucking retarded baby. You're a shitter who wants his participation medal and seeing other players who have invested time and effort to become good at something infuriates you but instead of being a man and striving to beat them you want to win NOW because you're an entitled manchild who can't accept when he's beaten.

What's pathetic is TF2 is already an easy to learn game. You can pick up the game and start pubstomping in a week if you put in the effort. But even that's asking too much of you. I can't imagine how absolutely buttblasted you would be trying to play something that's actually difficult like siege or csgo where there are no medics or sentries to save you and you can die in an instant.

Attached: casual shit.gif (300x166, 2.68M)

>You are the reason overwatch exists and all other shitty AAA titles that hold your hand like a fucking retarded baby

you know nothing about the reason overwatch is bad. because
>You are the cancer killing videogames.

Overwatch has an overreliance on skill and team plays. You might point to ultimates and abilities, but they rely on the team coordination overwhelming. There is next to no safety net, if some pubstar does well enough to kill 3 players, hes effectively won the team the game. Which means that the game needs to be balanced that this cannot happen. Meanwhile in tf2 a skillful player can get their rocks off without steamrolling.

Everything about this game sucks the life out of the casual experience and spits out the bare bones of comp faggotry. Its a viscious cycle that the developers chose to mimic the wrong design concepts, and hope to somehow transform a bad idea into a good idea without any thought put into it.

>an infinite skill ceiling is cancer, if you think otherwise you are essentially enabling aimbotters.
No such thing. If you put a human and an aimbotter against each other in a perfect 1v1 with no other factors the aimbotter will win everytime no matter who the opponent is. There are always inherent human limitations. Just because it is possible to do on paper doesn't mean it will ever actually happen. You can bunnyhop forever in TF2 if you do it frame perfectly but that has never happened because humans simply aren't that accurate.

Things that every other game has on top of DM skill. The problem with overwatch is that personal skill doesn't matter, the team that has better execution will always win because the game revolves around ult stacking. You can be a braindead retard and climb the ranks just playing brigitte.
youtube.com/watch?v=PqVRhBKD3NE

> if some pubstar does well enough to kill 3 players, hes effectively won the team the game
No it fucking doesn't. Again look at siege or csgo. Can one player wipe the enemy team? Yes. Is that an issue? No. Both games have a long history of being played competitively and teamwork will always matters. DM and coordination are not mutually exclusive skills. A good game has both because some people are better at being a twitchy entry fragger and some people are better at being a big brain support player. The best teams in the world are good at both.

TF2 will never be a shitstorm like OW is because Valve doesn't care enough to police players, I don't care about Random crits, but I know for a fact with or without them I'll be able to call the other team's sniper a nigger and not have to worry about my account getting locked, I'll be to go Gibus sniper with a friend who's pocketing me with the VAC and ruin the other Sniper's day with a default taunt

I LOVE COUPON BUG DOT COM I LOVE COUPON BUG

I used to listen to those videos on loop.
True kino

Heres some rules of thumb.

Sentries should be placed where they will stop any scouts/fast moving enemies attacking your team. Sentries should never be placed in locations where an enemy can move past your team and shoot the sentry. If possible at the very least. If not possible, sentries should be placed in locations where flank routes do not come behind the sentry and engineer.

Dispensers should be placed around a corner where your team is congregating.
Do not place them where someone can shoot the dispenser and kill healing teammates. (from flanks or what have you)
Place them where they have an advantageous position, like an over look of a hill.

Teleporters are actually a fair bit more complex.
One major mistake I see every engineer player do is place them TOO far forward, especially inside the path of a flank route.
A teleporter should be directly at the crossroad of many flank routes, but should be closest to where the team is congregating.

EX: for lets say last point upward, do not place a teleporter on the wall where the cart goes through the choke point. This will encourage the team to all move through that choke point, which means the enemy team has to simply lock down that one choke.

Move it back a bit so that the players will be forced to commit to a path of their choosing, move the teleporter slightly if you want to put more pressure on a certain choke point route.
This is honestly dramatically undervalued and can change outcomes of the game. As an engineer, you are controlling the spawn doors of your team.

>if some pubstar does well enough to kill 3 players, hes effectively won the team the game
>No it fucking doesn't.
>killing half the team, which results in a 6 v 3 isn't effectively winning the match

hmm

Overwatch has pretty stagnant damage numbers which makes most fights and the gameplay very samey. The reason TF2 takes much longer to get old is because things like weapon spread and crits mean no fight will go identically.

>Overwatch is even less casual than TF2
It promotes competitive play but doesn't have the foundation to support it. TF2 promotes casual play but it has a much higher skill ceiling and takes much longer to master. They are complete opposites of each other. That's the issue with overwatch it wants to be a competitive shooter but it doesn't reward individual skill. You are only as good as your team. That's why the majority of players dropped that shitty game because there's no incentive to fucking practice it.

Cry more copper. Siege is the most difficult fps to play by far.

no fight in tf2 is ever going to get samey because of weapon combinations among other things, user, not just because of RNG le shiny rocket ur fucked

I'm glad you understand why TF2 doesn't feel boring. Random crits are part of that foundation.

that's what happened in overwatch.
They needed to casualize the carry aspect because killing more than one player has huge effects on the outcome of the match.

Most heroes are a one and done sort of thing. Heroes like genji or Mccree that could continuously kill the enemy team with their weapons got nerfed to follow the cooldown reliance.

in tf2 you can carry and get numerous kills and not throw the matches balance out of wack drastically.

maybe back in 2007 but tf2 is too fucked today, adding random crits on top of that is just unfun autismo, Random crit rate also increases the more damage you do so it's basically making unbalanced even more unbalanced at times, something MYM already fucked

also TF2 never gets boring because it's core game-play is fucking great, with or without random crits

TF2 is the only game I can still get shit like this sometimes youtube.com/watch?v=Y3samynPxek

Also the hats are horribly optimized, and the particles themselves are extremely labor intensive. The game was never designed to have this many particles in it, but valves greed for glowing hats fucked it up. Theres a reason the game shoots up in performance when the item servers go down.

>Engineers will defend this
Disgusting

I've not played the game since like 2012, is it still good or have competitive gaming normalfags ruined it?

TF2 is running on old as fuck Source Engine, and as a result is primarily CPU bound without the ability to really take advantage of modern hardware, along with mostly hinging on single threaded performance when the trend for CPUs is now multi thread.

>tfw tried MvM for the first time today since playing for 4 years

someone answer me so i can decide if i should reinstall or not

Dont listen to the delusional engineer mains. The game hasn't changed much if you're among the majority who mainly uses stock, and comp is just optional

try it for yourself, a lot has changed though

>Heroes like genji or Mccree that could continuously kill the enemy team with their weapons got nerfed to follow the cooldown reliance.
And the game has been downhill ever since which is why its been hemorrhaging players these last few months because it's not fun to play. Instead of nerfing the only characters that actually took some fucking skill and were rewarding to learn they should have buffed or reworked the other heroes to match. If every overwatch hero was as hard to play as genji or mccree it would be infinitely more enjoyable. Dumbing everything down is not the correct solution because guess what shitter most players don't want to be the braindead support cuck who follows around the heroes that do the actual shooting

>in tf2 you can carry and get numerous kills and not throw the matches balance out of wack drastically
Only because it's 12v12 and even then I can easily curbstomp a server alone every single match because most TF2 players are bad at the game. I shouldn't have to suffer because jose.gonzalez2005 is playing on a toaster with 300 ping and using a joystick to aim. That's his fucking problem and if he likes the game it's on him to fix it and get better. Veterans will always care more about the game than casuals who just installed it because it was free and should always get priority unless you want your game to die when the next big fad comes along. I enjoy TF2 because I don't have to constantly bitch at my team that we don't need 5 snipers on offense to get anything done. In overwatch if you have a useless hanzo or torb player on your team you might as well quit because you aren't going to win. And don't give me this
>BUT IF ITS TOO HARD THE GAME WILL DIE
You can help new players without making it baby proof. TF2 has a built in coaching system, why not fix it? How about finishing the tutorials so players can learn the basics of their class? How about fixing the default config so new players don't have 100ms lag by default? Etc

>BUT IF ITS TOO HARD THE GAME WILL DIE

has this ever not happened?

Still good but Casual is even more annoying than QP ever was, and some weapons like Caber got nerfed because of compniggers

>and comp is just optional
More like it's barely functional, even if you wanted to play it.

this will always be the best tf2 image

>BUT IF ITS TOO HARD THE GAME WILL DIE
Literally no one has given this fucking argument in this thread.

Again >Siege
Ubisoft is actually doing a good job by discounting older operators and reworking existing maps instead of making new ones. This is good for both old and new players.

Go play bootleg tacticool CoD with your new landwhale aussie operator.

There are a shitload of things you have to learn in siege, it is very difficult to pick up as a new player.

>oh no I died to a caber now my whole game is ruined

Why are you bringing up operator design? Gridlock looks dumb but how she looks has 0 effect on the gameplay. This is the only argument I ever see when people bitch about siege
>muh female operators

I want to like widow maker, but I've rarely run into a situation where I need more than 6 shots, and don't need to backoff.

outside of maybe shooting a heavy and still having ammo to disuade anyone trying to follow me.

i got a match with a two stack of discord furries and one of them was doing the pyro flamethrower bug constantly like a faggot

Go play nocrit servers if there's such a high demand for no crits in the playerbase.
Oh wait. There isn't? And fucking RTD plugin, which adds MORE randomness, gets requested and used more?
Well that tells you everything you need to know, I guess. You had the option and none of you whiny niggers ever used it.

Because I played it since beta but dropped it a while ago because of Ubi's retarded decisions and compfaggotry pandering. I'm still mad

Attached: 1550422714527.jpg (480x640, 12K)

biggest issue with widow maker is that it defeats its own purpose

>widowmaker primary with pistol secondary
>a shotgun running out of ammo has a pistol back up, making the widowmakers potential unlimited ammo moot

>widowmaker primary and non pistol secondary
>widowmaker has to be used sparingly or else you'll have no ranged defensive tools

Nigger, no. If a Demo wanted to fuck Snipers, he could do it anyways just divebombing with grenades. The Caber being a quick switch gives Demoman an easy out in close range, which is where he's supposed to be most vulnerable anyways.

Were you about to get fucked? Swap to melee and you had a good chance to take out the other guy along with you for little to no additional effort, and no real investment in situations that were already bad.

>compfaggotry pandering

Boo fucking hoo, you need to guard your 215HP highest DPS in the game AIMBOT if you don't want to die.
Why are you not using your Shotgun to physically defend it as was intended by the game's designers, rather than expecting that nobody should ever be able to kill it and you should just be allowed to turtle forever? For fuck's sake, retard.

Nah the guy in that pic seriously got assblasted because people could pick up his gold pan after he died, which I assume happened a lot. Picking up weapons from corpses doesn't steal it from their inventory.

Because the spy is that shit class that's supposed to die upon being discovered

It was fun but that was because everybody was on an equal playing field because the meta hadn't formed yet and a smaller playerbase is generally less toxic, for lack of a better word. It wasn't going to last forever.

Yeah, it dies because it gets shot by actual weapons, or because it botched a stab and is already in range for you to melee. Not because you're trying to rush him down from a distance while he's backing up and shooting you.

Hmmmm

Considering I LITERALLY remember threads calling TF2 "hat simulator for casuals," you probably shouldn't even be playing it you care about the opinion of specific posters on old Yea Forums that much.
With or without random crits this game has an inarguably high skill ceiling. They only make up 2% of attacks for fuck's sake.

I quit in 2014 and started playing again recently. I kinda regret it desu

Sounds like one of those white women that was in the same neigborhood as the guy who found a legal loophole and purchased a large house for 16$.

It's a shame because a few years ago he was actually pretty sane and even made a video more-or-less shitting on the comp mindset.
Then like less than a year later he made his comp video and I couldn't stand him after that

He can pick it up and it replaces the spy's melee until the spy dies.
The one with the pan just gets a ""new"" one as soon as they respawn

>Spends 3 seconds taunting to check if a wall has stickies
>In that 3 seconds the demo can just kill them

I didn't say that's what I thought, just explaining the average mentality. I pull out melee less against spies now, since half of them seem to be capable of some kind of horsefucking bullshit sidestab/facestab.

Random crits DO NOT make it "100% devoid of skill" you fucking moron. For starters you can dodge them for fuck's sake. Do you honestly think pub TF2 has no skill to it whatsoever? How do you think people manage 20+ killstreaks consistently if it's all luck?

That chance goes up to 12% if you are doing well and it applies to every player. It makes it almost impossible to come back from a soldier/demo stomp which is ironic considering how much Yea Forums bitches about those two classes but defends the mechanic that makes them stronger than they should be in pubs.

I miss being able to taunt and blow up stickybombs at the same time

too much fun and compniggers can't have that

It's the other way around.
>Set up a sticky trap
>Hide around the corner and do a looping taunt
>Watch your trap from safety

If a soldier/demoman is stomping your team then you have more worries than random crits.

Overwatch doesn't have random crits, TF2 does. Fuck off over there if you hate them so much.

>Overwatch doesn't have random crits, TF2 does
No it has something worse, ultimates.
Imagine in TF2 if you could earn random crits while being AFK in spawn.

Wait they nerfed the loch and load? Jesus, no wonder I never see anyone using it anymore. What the fuck? Did a small group of scout mains bitch to rob walker or something?

>uber level game changing

banners.

Black box is like a vac for the entire team that also stops crits and mitigates sentry damage.
buff banner is like a weaker crits for the team

>who cares about everyone else's fun MY fun is intrinsically more important than that of 8 other people
I enjoy the fact that you have to COPE with the Caber nerf never being undone.

Friendly reminder that Gun Mettle was peak TF2 in terms of balance, popularity, and fun.
The only cons are it wasn't as hype as Mann vs Machine and the shitty weapon skins.

And the same would be true without that mechanic but lets say this retard leaves spawn and goes to the front, he has an instakill ability and did nothing to earn it and either me or one of my teammates die through no fault of our own.

The fundamental counterplay to stickytraps is that the Demo needs to see you to know to det them at the right time. If he can see you around corners he can det stickytraps you can't see without you ever seeing him.

>complaining about something that would never happen because of the way overwatch kicks inactive players and punishes the team with the lesser amount of active players
You fucking suck at theorycrafting.

If you have fast enough internet that 20gb isn't a huge deal, definitely reinstall. I personally find it fun and maybe you won't, but what's the worst that can happen?

>can't dodge everything
>complains when he gets killed

>dude just dodge the hitscan bro

afk timer doesn't change the fact that overwatch gives you ult even if you are doing nothing. you could be walking around in circles in spawn to circumvent the timer, nothing has changed.

yeah because the tf team would actually listen to experienced players who know what they're talking about instead of randoms on dustbowl or redditor engineer mains such as yourself

just turn anti aim on, the game's free just cheat.

>Widowmaker
>pistol
>ee

>That chance goes up to 12% if you are doing well and it applies to every player
That resets every 20 seconds. You need to do enough damage to charge a Buff Banner in 20 seconds in order to get that percentage. Also if you are doing that amount of damage, it's definitely not unearned.
>It makes it almost impossible to come back from a soldier/demo which is ironic considering how much Yea Forums bitches about those two classes
The fact you are failing to kill an alert Soldier in direct combat as a Spy has nothing to do with whether random crits are active or not. Crits or no crits, the game is imbalanced.
And Yea Forums isn't one person. I personally have nothing against Soldier/Demo (other than that Escape Plan and Disciplinary Action need to be nerfed), and think that Spy and Pyro are the ones that need to be buffed, rather than nerfing Soldier and Demo.

Competitive players were not responsible for that, you obsessed retard.
Valve made the change on their own without prompting from anyone, likely in the interests of counterplay (being able to actually see the guy that kills you).

>Literally coping overwatchbabs
"feels good" indeed, for a thing that never happened

One player shitting around in spawn doing nothing just to charge an ultimate doesn't outweigh the rest of his team being wrecked.
The fact he announces his ultimate should give ample warning for the rest of the team to move out of the way even if one or two dies.
Overwatch punishes one player being missing from his team far more than TF2 and rewards you with more charge for actually contributing. It is literally the reverse in that you can't mount a comeback when they're stomping you

They are literally all worse than just Shotgun. Why do you idiots insist on balancing the game on paper instead of how it works in practice?
You need 600 damage for a Banner charge and unlike Medic you don't get to sit in the backline and passively build from safety. In order to get Banner charge you have to fight people at ranges you can deal (and thus receive) significant damage, and you are fighting without a secondary weapon this whole time, so you're at a disadvantage and likely to die before you build the 600. Even when you finally do, the effect lasts 10 seconds in a limited area. It's not "ENTIRE TEAM speed ENTIRE TEAM vacc ENTIRE TEAM minicrits", it's whoever happens to be within a small radius of you.

The overwhelming majority of Soldiers both in pubs and comp prefer Shotgun or Gunboats to the banners. I would go so far as to call Buff Banner shit outside MvM.

Go and actually play the game, as every class, with every weapon, for a significant period of time before shitting diarrhea opinions out of your mouth about balance.

>That resets every 20 seconds. You need to do enough damage to charge a Buff Banner in 20 seconds in order to get that percentage.
If the game is already a one sided stomp that's not especially difficult and you have to remember that random crits are included in that damage so getting random crits means you are more likely to get random crits again. It's dumb. One crocket hitting multiple players can easily do 800 damage.
>Also if you are doing that amount of damage, it's definitely not unearned.
That is true but the issue is it makes games that are already one sided even worse and there is no counterplay to beat it. Someone who is destroying my team may not get a single crit or they may get 4 in a row. There's no way to know. If there was a way to tell when your opponent was about to get a random crit they would be much easier to avoid. I still wouldn't think that they're a good mechanic but at least I now have the information to deal with them. Nearly every other game is a stomp since matchmaking was introduced to the point where if I get put on a team with 5 snipers and there's a pocketed demo standing at our spawn door I'd rather just leave and go to a new server. I know even if I do manage to carry us back there's a good chance I'll eat a random crit at some point and it'll all be for nothing.
>The fact you are failing to kill an alert Soldier in direct combat as a Spy
Nice strawman. A crit rocket will kill anything that isn't a heavy so this argument is bullshit.
>the game is imbalanced.
The game being imbalanced is not an argument for keeping it this way.
>and think that Spy and Pyro are the ones that need to be buffed, rather than nerfing Soldier and Demo.
Then why defend a mechanic that makes these two stronger?

Go to hell, faggot.

You have literally more problems than just random crits if a soldier or a demo is stomping your team.

>banner
you have to fucking coordinate to make it work unless you use the conch as a fucking crutch in which case why would you

>One player shitting around in spawn doing nothing just to charge an ultimate doesn't outweigh the rest of his team being wrecked.
That is irrelevant because it is true in both situations. I already fucking said this.
>The fact he announces his ultimate should give ample warning for the rest of the team to move out of the way even if one or two dies.
That has absolutely NO relevance to the argument and ultimate effectiveness varies from one hero to another anyway. The fact is this player was rewarded for doing nothing. That is the issue.
>Overwatch punishes one player being missing from his team far more than TF2
Because TF2 pubs are 12v12. Apples and oranges. Missing a player in TF2 6s is just as bad as missing a player in Overwatch.

>Soldier and demo are bad classes

And stomps happen all the time in pubs now that team scramble is gone. Random crits making them worse is not an argument for keeping them it's an argument for removing them.

>And stomps happen all the time in pubs now that team scramble is gone.
you know what'd be a better idea than removing another core part of the game?
undoing the update that removed the previous core parts of the game

>If the game is already a one sided stomp
But whose fault is that?
>random crits are included in that damage
I want sauce on this
>One crocket hitting multiple players can easily do 800 damage
I find this situation to be very uncommon, and again, whose fault is it that multiple players are all clustered together?
>it makes games that are already one sided even worse
But that's the beauty of it, it allows a push to continue quicker through hordes of F2Ps to actually END the stacked shitstomp quicker.
>No counterplay
Mate it's called fucking dodging. The exact same counterplay you have the rest of the time to normal attacks applies to crits. It's like saying that normal Scattergun has no counterplay.
>Nearly every other game is a stomp since matchmaking was introduced
Noooooot the fault of crits, non sequitur.
>Nice strawman
Enlighten me then, what class WERE you having trouble killing Soldier and Demo with again?
>The game being imbalanced is not an argument for keeping it this way
It wasn't meant to be ffs. You were the one saying "it makes it harder to come back against Soldier/Demo." That was already a problem without crits, that is why I am the one pointing out it's not an argument to YOU. holy shit.
>Then why defend a mechanic that makes these two stronger
For the second time: because balance needs to be done anyway regardless of crits

Random crits are not a core part of the game. A dice roll to multiple damage by 3 is not clever or creative or add any depth to the game it lowers the skill ceiling. Damage numbers and health management no longer matter when you can instantly get vaporized because somebody on the enemy team got a lucky dice roll. If you want to play the virtual equivalent of rock paper scissors then good news tf2 already has a taunt for that.

Overwatch kicks players for not actively participating in the match. Just doing jogs in the spawn room won't help.

>muh quickplay is a core part of the game
imagine trying to fit in this hard that you mindlessly hate mym for no particular reason other than the addition of an optional comp like the sheep you are
true oldfags hated quickplay
community servers were the only servers back then, and if we do go back into that, you'd find your ass chewed up by the regulars that frequented such servers.

quickplay wasn't great, but with how hard valve cocked things up over the years it became the baseline for no frills tf2
now that is much harder to achieve, and since they effectively killed off servers with quickplay there's none of those to go back to
mym is by far the worst update tf2 has ever had in its entire history, and if you think any of it was good I wholly wish for you to stop talking about the game in its entirety

>people in TF2threads used to be against or apathetic to random crits

>If you want to play the virtual equivalent of rock paper scissors
Not the other guy but I wasn't aware that a DODGEABLE higher damage variant of normal attacks, which you need to AIM, was equivalent to "rock paper scissors."

Also while I don't agree with random crits being a "core" part of the game like that guy is saying (though they do have many benefits), keep in mind that soft counters between classes, such as Engineer>Scout Scout>Demo Demo>Engineer, ARE a core part of the game, and are far closer to scissors paper rock than random crits ever were.

>mindlessly hate mym for no particular reason other than the addition of an optional comp like the sheep you are

I never said anything about me liking it, I just called you out for being retarded and pretentious

anything else with substance to say? just admit you fucked up pretending to be a veteran

>But whose fault is that?
If I get put into a match in progress it's not my fault at all. If I'm good enough I might be able to turn it around but random crits makes it harder to do that.
>I want sauce on this
You can check for yourself if you want. Give yourself crits on a listen server, do 800 damage to some bots, then take out your melee and see how many random crits you get.
>I find this situation to be very uncommon, and again
Most pub maps are chokepoint heavy, hitting multiple players with one rocket is not uncommon.
>whose fault is it that multiple players are all clustered together?
My team but that has nothing to do with me.
>But that's the beauty of it, it allows a push to continue quicker through hordes of F2Ps to actually END the stacked shitstomp quicker.
Where is the fun in that? The game is already decided so I should just leave? That's retarded.
>Mate it's called fucking dodging
Another horse shit argument. B4nny is a better player than anyone on Yea Forums and still takes plenty of damage in pubs. Avoiding all damage is not possible and you know it isn't. You are being a disingenuous faggot.
>The exact same counterplay you have the rest of the time to normal attacks applies to crits
Normal attacks don't instakill.
>Noooooot the fault of crits, non sequitur.
I would like both fixed but having a mechanic that makes them worse is not helpful.
>Enlighten me then, what class WERE you having trouble killing Soldier and Demo with again?
I'm a soldier main faggot. I get more critical hits than most players and I still don't like them.
>That was already a problem without crits
If I can outplay them then I can carry us to victory.
>For the second time: because balance needs to be done anyway regardless of crits
The game will never be balanced with random crits. Melee weapons will always be broken because random crits changes them from a last resort weapon to being highly likely to instakill in most situations.

It had 5000+ respondents (enough to represent tf2's fortnightly population with a 99% confidence level and 2% margin for error). It also was backed up by Dane's own separate poll on Twitter made later, and he was actually against crits. So yes, I would absolutely say it was a reliable source.
Because what source are you providing, exactly?

Want another reliable source? Go to the server browser and compare how many populated nocrit servers there are vs. how many populated RTD servers there are.

how new

Server browser is hardly a reliable meadure because servers are pretty dead in general

>The only problem mym had was technical problems. A year and a couple of fixes later, and functioned similarly like quickplay but with ranks.
You have zero fucking idea how much MYM still poisons the game.
>you can't choose the valve servers you want to play
>you can't choose your team at roundstart
>alternative game modes are dead
>people are ragequitting? tough shit enjoy waiting for people while your team gets steamrolled
>no fucking team scramble
>related to that, you can only play 2 to 3 rounds
>ranks mean nothing
>you can't join valve servers your friends are playing in at all
Stop pretending you knew TF2 prior to MYM

>DODGEABLE
See Tired of hearing this bullshit argument.
>keep in mind that soft counters between classes, such as Engineer>Scout Scout>Demo Demo>Engineer, ARE a core part of the game, and are far closer to scissors paper rock than random crits ever were.
If random crits only gave you a slight advantage like class counters do then they wouldn't be that bad. Getting an instakill is not fine and takes skill out of the equation.

You should unironically kill yourself. MYM is still the most damaging update to TF2 and not just because of "muh ranks".

i remember doing MvM every weekend with a comfy squad that i met through just playing randoms

we weren't even that good but it was just fun to play with a group of close people
i wish i stayed in contact with them.

>MYM is still the most damaging update to TF2

...people don't actually believe this, right?

>anything else with substance to say? just admit you fucked up pretending to be a veteran
I'd rattle on to you why you're so retarded but has it mostly covered.
