But there's this voice in my head, telling me to finally buy a Switch, and it'd be for this game..

I wouldn't recommend anyone drop $300 (+$20 Online) just for some Battle royale Tetris. It's fun and all, but have at least four other games you plan on getting.

It's fun but if you're the kind of guy who loves Tetris enough to invest a fucktonne of time into this, any other version of Tetris with some kind of multiplayer will serve you just as well until you do eventually get a Switch.

despite it being tetris, this game is not a casual one. you will be beaten by almost everyone due to the skill ceiling it has, out of all the "BR" games this is the least enjoyable

Winning has a major luck factor. Obviously theres a skill threshold to fight everyone off - that Wumbo guy wins most of the games he plays because he's THAT good, THAT quick, and THAT autistic.

I'm decent, and can make it to the top 10 on a good run, but there's plenty of times that the game opens with me being targeted by 4+ players and my board is almost full within 15 seconds.

As it should be. I think I wouldn't mind getting BTFO every game. It'd make me wanna improve even more

I got 1st place today against some asian language charcters today. Felt great

I think it's the most enjoyable BR game, but then again I'm better at wrangling Tetris blocks than shooting people. It depends on what you're skilled at.

The top 10 always has asian players in it. They have a genetic advantage.

BTW protip use up to fast drop peices

You seek the thrill of the true hunt, this is exactly the game for you

BTW protip dont bother rotating the square block.

This game I swear to god is way too intense for fucking tetris

I unironically bought a PS4 Pro for Tetris. Do it, Opie!

Why? It's just modern Tetris (the kind with t-spins). It's a free to download game that requires an online subscription to play. The only difference between this and any other barebones release of Tetris is that you'll randomly become the target of other players' garbage. There's dozens of other Tetris games you could play that would be just as satisfying.

>this is the least enjoyable
Git gud

the better you are at the game, the more often you'll win
of course there's luck involved in every match and a less experienced player will at times win over more experienced ones, but ultimately skill and concentration will give those who are better at the game a higher chance of succeeding

here's a real protip
doing pic related sends as much garbage to targets as a tetris (cleaning 4 lines), but it's faster to do as it costs only 2 lines to perform

>Start the game off
>6 people target me
>get place 95'th
I just want top 10

>Made it to 3rd place last night
First time hearing 10 players left music but it got intense when it started.

It doesn't matter how fast you play if you get sent 15,000 lines

Nintendo should strike a deal with the Morphies Law Devs and make that game free to play too

it's mental illness. get help.

I never thought I was any good st tetris but I've gotten in the top 10 many times and even gotten 3rd place! I know it's nothing to brag about, since it's not really winning, but I don't think it's as hard as people make it out to be.

it's great

wouldn't sending the all clear be better in that case though
assumming you had the t block saved up, of course

>People who will NEVER win
>People who are ok and will often place within top 50, maybe top 10
>People who win once or twice
>People who win about 10 percent of the time (where I currently am)
>People who win about 30-50% of the time
>Pro's who win almost every time.
>Pro's who win virtually ALL the time
That's how I understand the skill walls in this game. If you are good enough you will get a slither of consistency.

well yes, that was just a hypothetical to visualize a t spin

you have no clue how bad the average person is a tetris
youtube.com/watch?v=TaiQcqR8vps
watch starting from 3:26:38
these are the people complaining about how Tetris 99 is all about luck

that image is just a very general depiction to make reading it easier
a perfect clear is indeed better as it sends 6 garbage lines, but that board is purposefully clean to make things simple

Top 10 is decent if you're playing casually. Keep going

Now remember, the modern algorithm for block randomization makes sure you get the whole set of 7 every 7 blocks.
Don't drop a piece in a way that will make you dependent on another copy of that piece if you don't have it held or see it up next, because you might not see that piece again for up to 13 pieces

switch has many great games unlike any other current console and desu tetris 99 alone is prob better than anything on the xboner and fagstation

can't believe nintendo fanboys killer app this year is multiplayer Tetris

It's time to stop.

history repeating??

Download NullpoMino (free tetris on PC) and see if you like it.

it's the best strategy in the game. thought it feels a little broken
youtube.com/watch?v=UPrDFgJ0TRM

is t-spinning really better than something like a 4-wide combo well? I only do tetrises and t-spin doubles because my brain can't quite comprehend t-spin triples and I haven't got the hang on how to drop the blocks on a 4-wide
I've got a fair bit of victories but I never stopped to research what the best strategy really is

I had a Switch for a couple things, mainly waiting for Daemon X Machina, but I admit that I got the online for this.

seriously it really is a good strategy, not sure why it's so good on 99 but as you can see from the my post and the other reply to it, it gives them more clutter for less blocks, maybe it's an oversight by the devs or intentional.

>Quadruple homicide.webm

>Anything other than sonic drop tetris

I'm perfectly fine not having the autism to beat this guy.

How good is an All Clear? It doesn't matter how many lines you started at before All Clearing does it?

7bag is cancer desu, wished they used a better randomiser.

In this game a Perfect Clear is 4 lines, which is a huge nerf from Puyo Puyo Tetris where it's 10 lines IIRC

It’s probably intentional, standard ruleset tetris has been shifting to t-spin autism for a while.

It kinda bothers me you can see so far ahead what pieces you're going to get, it just seems excessive to know that far advance. You should only know the very next piece so you still have to think on your feet.

just 4 lines, really? I should probably stop trying to do them at the beggining of every game, then

>You should only know the very next piece so you still have to think on your feet.
That sounds like pretty much 100% death if you're above halfway.
