If you actually believe this stuff, it's fairly easy to construct reasons why you should do things like this even if you're just trying to make money. For example, you could say that a cast of diverse characters will broaden your consumer base and encourage growth in new market segments. You could say that you should hire a diverse team because the pay gap means you can get equally talented engineers for lower salaries. Just because you only care about profit doesn't necessarily mean you're good at maximizing it. Their failure is just the market at work.

I think the idea is that young people from that generation are perceived as very liberal, so companies attempt to appeal to that demographic to attract talent (they're the ones graduating with STEM and business degrees instead of sitting in their mothers' basements).
This causes companies to fill with liberal employees, who work in a intentionally curated environment to seem millenial and liberal (see: large tech companies). This is something I've been thinking about recently and I could use some input on it. It seems like most people are compelled to pursue some sort of spiritual connection and that's how religions form and grow. Modern western culture is sort of abandoning its traditional religious roots but since people still have that desire for spirituality, they just replace religion with a dogmatic adherence to twisted/corrupted social justice beliefs and elevate them to some sort of bizarre cult whose ultimate goal is the destruction of any sort of functional society.
I dunno. It's not a very well-constructed thought but it's something that has kind of been on my mind recently. -It has neverending loading screens
-The game has no PvP despite being a Destiny clone
-Story missions are locked behind you doing tons of boring fetch quests
-Story itself isn't interesting in any way and it also cannot stand on its own - In order to actually get what's happening you need to read tons of lore files because the alternative is not getting any of the snowflake words the characters are using
-Even with "endgame" equipment you suffer because later enemies are massive bulletsponges - Probably because they plan on adding pay2win gear which makes fighting those easier
-There is nothing to explore and everything looks the same

The game isn't bad. Mass Effect Andromeda was bad but atleast that made it somewhat interesting to watch. People could laugh at Andromeda.

I mean, Dragon Age is pretty thoroughly raped at this point. The only really good game was the very first in the series. DA2 was incredibly rushed and poor quality and DAI is a game with pretty graphics that fits the 'single player MMO' moniker way, way too closely.

I'd love to get another good DA game because I really liked the first (even though some call it a watered down BG with some accuracy to the claim). Getting another good DA game however means moving back to CRPG roots and to a more tactical combat system. That's just not going to happen with today's BioWare, it just isn't.

It was one of the last AAA games I bought at release, I was expecting something on the level of Baldur's Gate 2 but it's just so fucking boring. I pirated DA2 and had more fun with that, even if it was more of an action game than RPG.

This idea has been around literally forever in NRx circles that entertainment media and the tech industry have taken up the role of the priestly caste. They even coined a term for it that I forget now.

Story is objectively bad, characters are bad, optimization is absolute garbage, too many loading screens, not enough variety in weapons, quests are all the same, only two skills and an ult per javelin, having to talk to npcs constantly does nothing but pad out the time between boring missions, there's no endgame, the environment is samey and extremely empty and lifeless, the overall experience is just painfully slow and repetitive and boring. Oh, and it's swarming with bugs.

But the trees are pretty, at least.

Yeah that's a good point. I'm playing as the storm class, and while using the abilities is fun you keep fighting the same two enemies. Granted, you usually do that in these games.. Looks fun until you find out that that particular javelin is unplayable at endgame. You literally cannot use any of it's melee abilities without getting insta-one-shotted or knocked on your ass, since enemies don't have to do any sort of animation to flip around 180 degrees and instagib you with a hitscan attack. The entire endgame is built around dodging. It's like no one at Bioware tried to use this javelin at endgame.

Anthem is pretty fun in terms of the core gameplay. The story is pretty meh though and the SEVERE lack of customization is mind boggling. How do they put so much emphasis on making your Javelin your own but there are only TWO types of armors for each class? There is a THIRD but you have to PAY for it.

Meanwhile absolute trash like Destiny managed to have hundreds of sets of armor to make you look feel unique at launch.
