In my case, my internet is pathetically slow, so if I'm getting into a new free online game where I'm not sure whether I really want to play it, I think "this kinda looks sort of interesting but if I hate I'll regret not spending 1 hour downloading this into something else".

Game is about 4GB. It's an asymmetric horror game/SS13 hybrid. There are basically five "teams" all following orders, one of which is the SCPs whose goal is basically to kill everyone. D-Bois and scientists escape, MTF save scientists, kill D-Bois and SCPs, and Chaos save D-Bois while killing scientists and maybe helping SCPs, maybe not, they're wildcards.

SCP wiki has been taken over by tumblr, yeah. It was a gradual thing. Replacing and retconning 049 wasn't specifically a tumblr thing (it was just a power grab by an asshole mod), but SCP-2721 (tranny satellite who runs a Homestuck fan tumblr and reads like an author OC; the ability to vote on the article was removed entirely), SCP-4004 (magic stone which is the sole cause of all the toxic bigoted assholes in the USA and it's sad because the country voted Drumpf), completely scrubbing 7143-J (the doorknob SCP which offended some people because it promoted sexaul objectification, even though objectifying a literal object was the entire joke, so now the page just looks like some weird non-joke), it's bad. Hasn't affected the game. Game is also shit but it's enjoyable shit.

People have made their own SCP forks, quite a few times actually. I didn't save it but there was a flowchart of all the SCP offshoots in the last 2-3 years and there are at least a dozen attempts. RPC Authority has the "most" traction out of all of them but they're still literal whos. If they got a couple really good writers to jump ship from SCP to RPC then that might give it some momentum, but its original content has been pretty mediocre thus far.
