Got level 60 with SMN but the gameplay is pretty boring and nothing is going to change much except being able to summon Bahamut. Not a big fan of design where you have a burst period of damage followed by a long maintenance time before your next burst window.

If you have more than 50 players in a instance you'll have a bad time. I did Penzuzu with less than that and it went fine aside from a few deaths. We killed her and everyone got their stuff. More is not needed. Fuck those 94 leeches hanging out in every "alive" instance.

Basically, the "easy" gear you can get at 50 is only there to move you into the higher tiers of 50 gear, and you'll be missing an easy +100 or so of your crafting substats by not having the best level 50 gear, which isn't really quickly or cheaply acquired (except by the kindness of FC mates). Plus, they kind of want you to have your Lucis tool, which is a relic progression.

There's no Ironworks equivalent you can buy with Tomestones at 50, and you have to wait for level 51 minimum to equip gear that's not even as good at crafted HQ level 50 gear, and that's what the HW items are balanced around STARTING at.

I'm pretty sure they're just designing content badly on purpose, as a joke. The thought that these are honest attempts is too depressing to bear.

Any doubt of Dancer should have been eliminated the moment Hrothgar leaked by accident in the French client, nevermind BLU being a mid-expansion job (regardless of being limited), getting the order of Alphascape right, Gunbreaker, and Viera.

Both have their own ups and downs, I personally think Kul'tirans look great in armour and the males look like fucking beasts in plate. Viera bore me because of how similar they are to everything. They had the option to make them more beastial/feral looking like they did with the Au Ra by giving them long hands and powerful claws like in other incarnations but chose not to because they want it to sell as much as possible and don't want other "assets" they have turning people away from it.

Also their heals are likely just part of the racial armour, and they are going to be standing down for every other pair of boots they use because the devs are lazy as shit. And my biggest gripe with Viera as a whole is why don't they have bunny tails? WHY WOULD YOU DESIGN A RABBIT RACE AND NOT ADD BUSHY LITTLE RABBIT TAILS?

The content should not be queued through Hydatos at least. This probably took decades all on its own.

Should have just been an open world dungeon anyone can walk into once the gates open. Cap the 'instance' at 50 and anyone who comes in after that gets put into a newly formed group to be filled up. None of this farming, searching nonsense.

It's entirely possible that doing the labor intensive process of adding all the new dialogue for Viera, they opted to add in another race whose details can be changed later to save development time dealing with the five hundred thousand or so strings of dialogue they have to fuck with to add a new race in a future expansion. This is especially likely if they've cemented an internal roadmap of how many more expansions/races they think the game has left in it's lifespan.

BLM is finicky because it revolves around sitting still for long periods of time, and your only compensations in this regard are slidecasting (moving around in the last few partial-seconds of a cast-bar's filling so it still counts as being cast) and Triplecast, which you don't learn until lv. 66.

MCH is finicky because it revolves around Wildfire, a bomb with a time-window where you have to dump as many powerful attacks as you can (oGCD and upgraded standard attacks) for it to deliver a portion of all the damage you inflicted during Wildfire's window as another attack, and not using Wildfire is a severe compromise to your DPS. Also, its standard 1-2-3 combo is a luck-based proc rather than proccing automatically as with every single other job.

With MCH, if you're off by even a little bit during your burst, you do shit all for damage, and your dps outside that window is a low damage 1-2-3 rotation

With the content cycles all being identical, nothing of value to do/grind/find in the (small compared to other MMOs)open world, and even quests effectively transplanted from one expansion to the next with nothing but a change in scenery and one of the involved NPCs, there is nothing about XIV that is set up for the long-haul playstyles of older MMOs. It's pure themepark. Subbing for anything other than a month or two once a year(X.3 patches and expansion releases, for example) is madness.

BLU's a good time-waster, there's still parties up for learning skills depending on your world. Run about, level-up on the overworld (the exploit to level up quickly isn't getting patched because they'd have to change the integral EXP system; stay hush-hush about it and nothing will happen to you), pick up new skills, do some Masked Carnivale if you want easy Poetics. I had fun with it, and the grind for primal skills was still less obnoxious than BLU could be in XI at times. I genuinely think a lot of the railing on BLU comes from not liking the limited-job concept and BLU itself doesn't matter past that point to those types, a "no matter how good it is it's limited so it's the devil" kind of thing. BLU would suck as a full job, it's got its quirks, weirdnesses and low power as a limited job as it is.

Thanks, but I'm not interested in SSS (I use ACT already anyway). It doesn't take into account your gear, ilvl and stats. It just tells you "you're expected to do this much DPS in this fight", not "with this gear/melds/stats, you should be doing this much at best", which is what I'm interested in.

SSS is more of a "can I clear it?" shitter check than anything, but it's still helpful for seeing if your gear is up to snuff

It's more of a dichotomy between "defense tank" and "offense tank", like how PLD makes an excellent offense-tank because Shield Oath blows goats to build gauge for and it has a bevy of abilities dedicated to mitigating damage for party-members. But it can still operate as a main-tank just fine.

PLD is just terribly designed right now. It has really good utility, but everything else blows.The way PLD stances work, the retarded rotation, Requiescat cycle, everything fucking sucks.

learning how to move properly as a BLM is really not as hard as people hype it up to be, you really don't need to move as much as people seem to think you need to move. Playing optimally as a healer requires a near identical level of movement management but nobody complains about that. And keeping maximum uptime as a melee DPS outright feels significantly more difficult, and I barely see complaints about that.

The Eorzean Alliance leaders are all extremely, EXTREMELY flawed to the point where they've all put their nations in danger of destruction. They're real people and real leaders who happen to be women, and aren't there to show how strong women are.

Not to mention everyone on the continent defers to Raubahn in terms of military strategy. While they lead their own companies, Raubahn is the de facto general of the Alliance.

BLM movement isn't awful for pug content, it's when you get into Savage or other severe high-end that you really need to find your nads. Melee uptime is only hard if you're MNK.

Not purposefully, but the spikes are a preventative to that and even if they get swallowed or bitten out of the air they can wreak havoc on a dragon's internals. Jobs weren't supposed to be a thing in 1.X so artifact armors had to invent stories for why they look the way they do, DRG's Drachen Armor was based off of dragoons and Cecil's Dark Knight sprite from FF4

On the one hand SwdMag fits the Vivi bit they gave the class just now via the artifact, on the other I doubt they'll ever move BLM away from being a selfish DPS with no utility whatsoever beyond Mana Shift and Erase and rightly so

You won't need much, just check out the high level rotations when you get to that point.
You should aim to level everything to max level, else it won't do. Take notes for the following:
First get everything to level 15 for the first batch of useful cross class skills. Then get CUL to 37 for Steady Hand II, then CRP to 50 for Byregot's Blessing, then whatever. Those 2 skills are extremely useful and a staple for all DoH jobs.
Fastest way to level is Leves > Ixal/Moogles dailies > Crafting. Custom Deliveries will net you a lot of exp too but they won't come in until later.
You should also think about leveling up MIN/BTN with/before the DoH jobs, it'll save you a ton of money. FSH isn't important.

It's definitely really good too but not nearly as important as Steady Hand II or Byregot's. Not having it never bothered me while leveling crafters, while I could really feel how much easier it got when I unlocked Byregot's.
You could level it with/after CRP, it's nice to have something to craft HQ gear.
