I once ran 5 km in like 20 minutes.

I can do half of SotN (the bad ending because I don't know the route for the reverse castle), and I can mockball in Super Metroid to get early super missiles and skip that shitty tree boss. I also learned the any% skip out of Kokiri Forest in OOT, but I've forgotten it now.

For a brief period I held the DMC4 WR on pc and 360 and ps3, but then special edition came out and everyone stopped paying attention to the original game. I don't really care about DMC anymore, it took too long to get a new game out so eh.
I suppose helping find new tech for blast corps was pretty good feeling. I collected a bounty for some tech in a few SNES games, and instead of paying me cash, one of the people ended up being a reference for me, and I found a really good job. So speedrunning in a way helped me get my life on track.

I also speedran in the /srg/ marathon 1.

The only game I ever considered speedrunning was Jedi Academy, fuck that game runs smooth I'm not even into the speedrunning scene I just love that fucking game. I ended up learning the speedrun routes and glitches then went on to play it normally because it's the greatest game of all time

I have only submitted a speedrun for a game that only I ran for a year until someone else did and for a worse time. I still need to breach the 50 minute mark . Did a little write-up about it to some extent of which systems are the best to play it on, though. Also speedran [Girls und Panzer on PS4 , but sound was not captured, so I did not submit it, even though I would have WR that category. Wasn't a fan of it though, because it was too RNG reliant

people pay bounties for others to find tech in games they run all the time. That tick tock clock zip that's pretty infamous in sm64 speedrunning is like $15,000 now I think.
I found some TAS tech for goemon 2 on SNES involving infinite flight but with a buffer/setup capable for human use. The bounty was $75 but the guy offered to hook me up with a job interview and reference since we lived close to one another, and it landed me a $20/hr job doing some menial coding and css shit.

I did DS1 in like 2 hours with killing all bosses
i know its not much in terms of speedrunning but its best i ever did
also i played that game obsessivly for months, RE2Remake is first game since then that i replayed so much consecutivly

I have no interest in speedrunning at all but I've watched every single RWhiteGoose YouTube video. His fireside chats are comfy and I've learned a lot about GoldenEye speedrunning (despite not caring much).

Beat Metroid Fusion 0% at 1:36, the relatively quick time was incidental though. I find challenge runs a lot more interesting and fun than speedruns for the most part.

The only time I've actually speedrun for the sake of speedrunning was alttp following a youtube video, did it around 3 hours which isn't great but it kinda a comfy/neat experience beating a game like that in a single evening with some snacks and drinks.

Speedrunning over and over, and obsessing over times is pretty degenerate. But learning tricks and skips is pretty neat.

Probably don't care, but there's several ways out of the Forest although I don't know them all. There's a clip past the guard, navi diving out of the lost woods (by far the easiest imo), z-hole glitching, and the worst (imo) ISG hovering off of the business scrub nut attacks onto the bridge.
