What's the chances this fucker gets the upgrades instead of the Switch tablet itself...

What's the chances this fucker gets the upgrades instead of the Switch tablet itself? I imagine it'd let them do both the Switch mini for Pokemon, and a 4k that'll really be 1080p, Jesus Christ Nintendo at least get your shit together on that end dock?

Zero.
It was already said what upgrades Switch+ is going to get and dock isn't going to get any.
Best you can hope with next revision are actually working USB3 ports and maybe Ethernet port if you pray really hard.

>It was already said what upgrades Switch+ is going to get and dock isn't going to get any.
So the dock would be staying the same?

I don't think the dock works the way you think it does, OP. In fact, I'm pretty sure all it does is provide the HDMI and USB ports while still letting the Switch draw power from the AC adapter.

idk how it works but it influences performance

Switch is gonna get a mini version so they can retire the N3DS. No detachable joycons, no dock, and pocket sized (but just barely).

It throttles back when not docked to save battery power, the dock isn't doing anything that affects performance

Wouldn't they be able to stick an external GPU in there?

Why would they do that

This year will have either a price drop or a cheaper version to launch with Pokemon. You can expect a Switch+ a year after that, at the earliest.

(sadly) u have opened my eyes

Performance improvements?

how do you expect a game to rtun at 4k docked and then 720p handheld? don't be daft.

It really doesn't.
Docked Switch can run at ful throttle because it doesn't have to conserve the battery capacity.
Handheld is crippled (underclocked) to save battery.
It would be completely possible to run at 100% in handheld mode but that would make you run out of juice much faster.

First off the switch nor the dock nor the usb c would have the ability to interface with an egpu like that. It's barely a thing for high end laptops, and that requires special connectors and special docks. Plus the switch would still be working off its low ram which is a big issue already in performance.
Its just not a possibility. I wish it was but no.
I'd say do expect to see a switch 2.0, I bet after ps5 and xbox2 are out or at least have their specs announced. Youll see the unit with either a tegra 2 or 3. Nintendo would be a fool to not upgrade to something that at least has a chance of playing scaled down ps5 ports, same way current switch can play (some) scaled down ps4 ports.
Switch mini is the only thing i see possible in the next year, maybe 2.

If I play in handheld mode but stay tethered to the external power source, does the Switch switch back to docked performance?

Pointless, it'd be another 32X or DSi situation in which too few people will buy it for it to be worth it for developers to bother spending time and money developing for both the base Switch and the enhanced dock. Next to nothing would utilize it, the install base would be too low.

Through fucking USB-C?

No, but the difference is usually just that games are 1080p docked and 720p handheld, and the screen is only 720p anyway.

Switch will get a revision for Pokémon this year. Either a better one and a price drop for the original, or a cheaper one.

I could bet on that.

>Switch will get a revision for Pokémon this year
And it will still run like shit

It ran like shit on the 3DS because they future-proofed all their models, the 3DS couldn't handle this shit but the Switch can just fine. Pretty sure Pokemon Go uses the same ones as well.
