I think that seeing SA as the best GTA is just an indicator of age, rather than tastes. And perhaps indicative too of when you stopped playing vidya for a while.
>comfy
>a fucking shooter where there's always a cop or a thug behind you
I hate this meme expression
99% of GTA players before IV and V started at either III or VC
>Play VC
>Crockett's theme comes on
Feels good being a Boomercore gamer
>posts picture from VVCS
Vice City and SA are the only good GTA games.
I & II are literally who games nobody gives a shit about, III is basically a shitty prototype that people only like because it was the first "modern" GTA, IV is horrendous, boring shit with no content loved only revisionist retards who love jerking off over the meme webms of the game's engine, and GTA V was just shit. I haven't played Chinatown Wars or VCS, but LCS was basically a non-shit GTA III.
LCS was fantastic. One of the best intros, too:

desu I never quite understood the love for this series.
Okay, it's big, you can walk everywhere and kill anyone, also steal cars. Freedom and violence. But then the AI is garbage, the controls are subpar, and the writing is atrocious and forgettable. It's an ambitious sandbox that hits low. Not even a boomer would praise this shit.
Sure it has few equivalents, but then I don't even see why it's needed. And even then, obscure shit like the Ukrainian Xenus/Boiling Point series blow it out of the water.
I don't get it, really.
Lol, no. I agree that SA is a huge improvement to III and VC in terms of controls. But I finished III and VC and didn't bothered playing SA further after... I think the first Leone mission in Las Venturas where you fly behind the plane I think, meanwhile VC was so interesting that I bothered with all the bullshit missions where the difficulty is completely random and especially the ones with team AI revolting in mission failure at least 5 times (and III is easily exploitable, Cappucino 2go is fucking easy if you just drive around and then attack them).
It all comes down to story and setting, I spent, I think, 80-100 hours in VC because the business stuff was so addicting.
>Comfy
How the fuck would you find coke-addled, spic-filled, and crime-ridden not80sMiami remotely comfy?
>Vice City is comfy as fuck, but the ultimate GTA is SA
Nah, it's Vice City Stories.
>I haven't played Chinatown Wars or VCS
>I haven't played the two best GTA's.
Remedy that user, seriously. Grab Chinatown Wars on PSP or DS/3DS and PS2 VCS emulates perfectly.
They are genuinely brilliant games.
Really? I recall VCS being considered a lesser title at the time, relative to LCS, anyway. I love VC, though, so I've always been interested in playing it. I don't know much about CTW, but it never really piqued my interest.
Really really, I put off playing VCS for literally a decade as i'd completely dismissed it as being some shitty handheld spin off but when I finally got around to playing it on PS2 I fell completely in love. It's by no means a perfect game (and when you start taking over territory/businesses you'll want to wait a decent chunk of time between each otherwise you'll end up in a situation that I did where I was having to deal with counter attacks on all my businesses for like two hours straight because I took over half the map in a two hour long rampage), but of all the 3D era games it's by far the best and the Radio is hands down the best of any GTA ever. LCS was brilliant as well mind you, but it's a lot more grounded and realistic with it's mission approach than VCS and it's Radio is absolute balls by comparison.
But yeah, if you love VC, absolutely check VCS out. And CTW is like a really awesome throwback to the original GTA 1/2, albeit with a lot of great genuine sandbox mechanics mixed in like drug dealing, it's all about the gameplay.
Honestly I loved all the GTAs since 3. But I just couldnt get into SA. Even though I liked all the extra options and customizable things it offered. I hate to say it, but I just couldnt relate to gangster niggas
Chinatown is reminiscent of the old GTAs but with a lot of the new minigames and mechanics.
The drug dealing was one of the best parts unironically.
Hows the soundtrack in VCS? Is it up to par with the original.
Its fun. You're just a stick in the mud
The best GTA is TBOGT
VCS probably has the best radio of any GTA game, the soundtrack selection is top tier, it literally has an entire mission dedicated to a full length live performance by Phil Collins and the radio skits, advertisements etc are brilliantly written.
>indicator of age
>2 years difference between titles
goddamit I don't even remember where my physical is
probably eating dust in some friends drawer

I remember playing SA for the first time, thinking
>holy shit you can ride a fucking bike now???
>and a train???
>JETPACK???
>another fucking city???????
>ANOTHER fucking city?????????????
>area 51????
>PLANES TOO?
>HOLY FUCK SO MANY CHEAT CODES
>SO MANY CARS
>Jesus Christ, you can change CJ
>SO MANY SHIT TO COLLECT OH MY GOD
GTA 4 was even more mind blowing since new graphics and physics. Dynamic car damage? You can fly off the window? But over all there was less stuff, which sucked.
Then GTA 5 came out and the only thing to blow me away for a short time was the fact that you can play as a dog this one time.
RDR 2 was pretty much "wow, they've got an animation for that".
>*crack open a monster*
>thats where youre wrong, kiddo, they dont make them good like that anymore.
