Bioware stopped being good after KOTOR & Jade Empire

EA happened and forced them to finish the trilogy before 8th gen started.

ME2 is the best ME game, it was the balance between ME3s shit story but good gameplay and ME1s good story but shit gameplay. ME2 also had the best squadmates.

>Bioware was like the best game developer in the world at the time this game came out, what the fuck happened?
>Mass Effect 2

Cringe

I was tempted to get into this, at least the first 2. Knowing the series died and the last game is complete trash kills the hype. Is it worth it?

EA causing all the great creators to leave, to be replaced by mediocre woke fucks, who attracted completely incompetent ideological partisans.

In addition, EA demanding AAA or bust games, having riddiculous dev budgets, and even more riddiculous marketing budgets was the LAST thing that noob programmers and managers needed.

If you turn the game off right after your last conversation with Anderson and image a better ending then sure.

Hamburger helper

2 is really good in its character and the first has a pretty good story. They both have gameplay issues but overall a solid rpg shooter experience.

They were still trying to make the best of a bad situation, working within the constraints EA set for them. Same with DA2 which, for as bad as it is, is pretty solid for the development cycle they likely had.
Then they stopped giving a fuck with DAI, Andromeda and Anthem. Maybe also with ME3

I never played the 3rd game. Do you still have to gather squad mates again? It was so odd that you had to do it again in the second game because you already did it in the first game.

>cut out space exploration
>simplified gameplay
>ammo for no reason
>entire story is pretty much a glorified sidequest
>80% of the game is dealing with your crew's daddy issues
>the endings are only different in that one is blue and other is red, and that some members might die because if they still have daddy issues they go full emo and suicidal

No.
You start with only two I think, but squad members keep joining your team as you play the story, there's no missions specifically to recruit them.

EA bought them in 2007, around about the time that mass effect was released and coincidentally every game after that went to shit

The first 2 games are good. When Mass Effect 2 came out, you would only see Mass Effect threads on the front page of Yea Forums for months.

But Dragon Age Origins was a masterpiece.

>what the fuck happened?
nobody knows

>pic is literally a photoshop
>people still pass it around

dragon age origins isn't anywhere close to their original big games, baldurs gate 2 and kotor 2

3 honestly is fuckin' fine.
It's not a step up like 2 was from 1, because 2 is a serious high for the series, but it's fine.
I didn't expect a trillion endings for every possible choice I made, so the solution for variations is whether you do the thing/how well everything turns out in the end. There's basically three major endings though, and it all comes down to one click, but the fun of the whole series made the journey worth it. I also got the "best" ending, so I guess I'm just happy about that.

I had a friend who netted me the DLCs from 2 for free but I had to fork over a bunch of dosh to grab the DLCs for 3 from the Origin store because I don't think they ever decreased in price. They're all fuckin' great, though.

Why post fake shit?

yep

mass effect had already aged really poorly like 6 months after it came out

Okay, everything after Dragon Age: Origins went to shit.

Better?

But Mass Effect 2 was amazing.

>the main story might as well not exist so little time is given to it
>the gameplay is still mediocre but it's more acceptable mediocrity for the time it came out

mass effect was slobbered on by the greater gaming community 6 months after it came out. the game was beloved. some of the highest praise i can remember seeing for a game ever

They remained that way through TOR and ME3, in spite of DA2. But by the time Inquisition came out, most of the old talent left including both founders. All the people that were hired to replace them just weren't good enough. As a result, the writing suffered and the games stagnated from a technical standpoint. Where Sony games were creating fully mocapped scenes and character animations, Bioware was still using their very outdated canned animations that look extremely robotic and ancient in comparison. The gameplay was getting dumbed down further by EA and the writing wasn't good enough for people to look past these flaws.

Okay, everything after Mass Effect 2 went to shit

Better?

Yeah man cutting out those boring mako sections where you explored the same copy+paste base was such a loss
I can't believe they did the same to enemies constantly waddling up to you screaming ENEMIES EVERYWHERE and GO GO GO, that was such good gameplay

Yes, now we're back on topic.

It's strange. There's enough REAL shit like Manveer Heir blaming the failure of andromeda on a lack of diversity. Or Hamburger Helper.

I did like the mass effect games because I'm really into space opera sci-fi. Also all the cool space shows died around that time. To be real though, Neverwinter Nights was flawed as fuck, only redeemed after expansions. Jade Empire was cool but entirely too short. I could make the argument fairly easily the bioware has sucked for a decade and some change. Like meme wise the hate was real as far back as 09-2010.

I really liked Dead Space 2.

Not Bioware.

>Manveer Heir

lol, that guy

As if turning it into Gears of War was any good.

>Bioware was like the best game developer in the world
The Mass Effect trilogy was unironically the high point for them.

>trilogy
Mass Effect series is like the The Godfather movies.

Yeah, because that at least fucking worked, unlike above where the majority of your enemies felt content to run past cover and straight towards you.

imagine thinking the combat from 1 was better aside from adept.
literally just braindead enemies running in your general direction whilst shouting obnoxious lines

Each Mass Effect game has different strenghts and weaknesses.
First one really feels like you are exploring a massive universe, and it's ambitious how they're tying RPG mechanics into a shooter, with also very large maps. But even though it's ambitious, doesn't mean it's good. There's some real rubbish gameplay segments.
Second game's answer to addressing the problems of first one is basically cutting out all the troublesome content, it does play better but feels kind of castrated. Also as opposed to big story, in ME2 it feels like you just get your crew together, do their missions and then end the game.
Third game plays the best, but personally I felt the writing was the weakest. People complain about the ending, but all the way through it felt kinda bad.

But yeah, I'm a weirdo who likes the first one the most. Generally people think second one is the best.

Yeah, it worked on killing what made it different.

imagine thinking the combat from 2 was good
literally just hiding behind chest high walls while your powers dont do anything because everything has shields to block them

Different doesn't mean it's better. It was by far the weakest aspect of 1 and 'simplifying it' made it more enjoyable instead of a chore.

Not really, I liked the idea of exploring planets, they just needed to expand it and fill them with stuff.

>bioware finally give Mass Effect good combat
>but it's in the game with the worst story, writing and content

Attached: 1541113052234.jpg (1080x600, 114K)

It was good because each enemy type required a different response, particularly based on the area you were fighting in.
Enemies were also pretty smart using the particular mix of units available to pressure the player in different ways.
Yeah, everything was chest-high walls for cover but that seemed largely just a matter of providing space to make decisions rather than being in a situation where you dont have time to act rationally

I waited 3 years right before ME3 came out and got this in the bargain bin at gamestop by pure chance. Didn't even play it until a week later and little did I know htat it would one day be in my top 10 games of all time.

ME3MP's combat was better than Andromeda's in terms of ability/shooting/area/enemy balance. It was a tighter package in ME3MP than Andromeda, with a greater variety of interesting builds

It half a completely functional main story. It just didn't tie into the 1st and 3rd one well. Doesn't change the fact that the story into was excellent, it would have been perfect as a stand-alone story.

2 is easiest to get into plotwise since it's rather disconnected from the grand arc of the franchise, the one they ruined by over hyping "choices" and the "endings"

Bioware was never good. They simply became a laughing stock once EA bought them.

Progressivism ideology happened.

IT WAS SEVEN YEARS AGO. A LOT CAN HAPPEN IN SEVEN YEARS. FUCKING HITLER WENT FROM THE TOP OF THE WORLD TO EATING LEAD IN A BUNKER IN BOMBED-OUT BERLIN IN LESS TIME.

STOP ACTING SURPRISED.

Mass Effect 2 came out 9 years ago, user.

THAT JUST REINFORCES MY P O I N T

Attached: [SAVE ME].jpg (500x550, 64K)

doesn't matter when it's still the same cover hugging enemies used in the SP with the same exact AI behaviors.
as well as the fact that the abilities are all boring with low mobility across the board for all races/classes

Is there a mod where I can skip ME2 and import my Shepard straight into ME3?

You can go to that website, Mass Effect saves, and download a savegame with a Shepard similar to yours.

this.

kotor and jade empire were far superior to this game you jabroni. if youre gonna make a thread for (you's) at least do it right

>Is there a mod that allows me to skip a shitty game so I can play an even shittier game?
Why would you want that

Attached: y.jpg (650x432, 70K)

Thanks,
I like 3's combat system.

Wrong, ME1 aged like shit & was largely forgotten about after months. It was a complete afterthought since it released in the same year as all of these juggernauts
