Was this a good introduction to Skyrim?

No, I installed a mod to skip it because the carriage would go crazy and start flipping.
How many of you can recite this whole sequence word for word?
Cant have over 60fps. 72 works fine though
So you modded the game to break the physics and then modded the game to bypass all the shit you broke? Why didn't you just not break the game in the first place?
My game was modded so that's probably what caused it.
Yes and yes, I found out it was SMIM because it replaced the carriage .nif file, that and I was a retard for fucking with ugridstoload because this game looks like shit.
It was better than Oblivion at least
>hey, there shouldnt be a prisoner in this cell! Oh well, guess we'll have to let him tag along, it's not like we could move him to another cell or anything
To be fair, at first they tell you to stay in the cell because they're in a rush and have got bigger problems to worry about. Then they lock you in the dungeon when you follow. Finally the blades decide to just kill you but the Emperor orders them not to.
fuck no
why wont bethesda stop making """"""cinematic"""""""" intros
Yes. I love it to this day.
>Imperials accidentally have you on execution bus ride
>"He's not on the list of people to execute"
>"Ehh fuck it, cut his head off"
How was this not supposed to create a bias in choosing sides?
>prisoner memery
>insanely long intro making it so that alt start mods are necessary since the first 30 minutes of any playthrough is "that part"
yea thats a pretty good elder scrolls intro sure but not a good rpg intro tho
It was a good introduction for Skyrim, in the sense that it was fitting--it let you know early on that you'd be in for a whole lot of mediocrity.
>How was this not supposed to create a bias in choosing sides?
I think the part where the Imperial soldier gives you your freedom, helps you escape and gives you a safe place to rest is supposed to mitigate the fact that you got caught up in something a lot bigger than you.
Morrowind did it best, quick opening scene, character creation is the focal point, gives you a few tips and sends you on your way. No need to create drama with a cataclysmic event, just talk to people and find out what's going on.
W/e his name is that helped you was a good guy, but he still knew you weren't meant to be executed and chalked it up to "Sorry."
lol,cuck
/ourguys/ Extra Credits btfo that sequence
it's UNSKIPPABLE JFC
Yes but only the first time around. Pain in the ass after that.
>It was better than Oblivion at least
Are you fucking high? Oblivion's intro was a monologue from a knighted actor, a cinematic that, when it came out in 2006, makes you cream your pants, kino music, and a tutorial sequence that could be skipped on secondary playthroughs. Skyrim is a couple of retards arguing in a wagon, no score, no sweeping introduction to the worldspace, a shitty tutorial section, and no way to skip it (without modding) if you want to start a new character.
Of course, the same argument (mostly) applies to Anduin...
>and a tutorial sequence that could be skipped on secondary playthroughs
No it can't. Or are you referring to keeping a save from right before exiting the sewers?
>No it can't. Or are you referring to keeping a save from right before exiting the sewers?
Yes. So you are retarded.
Well, I can make a save after the opening of Skyrim too. Big deal.
Ulfric Stormcloak!
Some here in Helgen may call you a hero, but a hero doesn't use a power like The Voice to murder his king, and usurp his throne!
You started this war, plunged Skyrim into chaos, and now the Empire is going to put you down, and restore, the peace!
Jesus Christ. Do you have any braincells? Have you even played the games you're talking about? At the end of Oblivion's tutorial the game allows you to change any of the decisions you made, so on subsequent playthroughs you can load a save, set your race, appearance, and class, and be on your way. In Skyrim, if you want to do a new playthrough, unless you want to play the same race and gender every time, you have to go through the whole introduction and tutorial.
It's alright but too long if you want to start a new game.
>showracemenu
You aren't stupid enough to play Bethesda's games on console, are you?
>a cinematic that, when it came out in 2006, makes you cream your pants,
youtube.com
pay close attention to the guards walking around the city
Dr. Pavel I'm CIA
No, i'd rather something like morrowinds or oblivion, they were short and easy.
ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR......
Im pretty sure Oblivions opening was longer than skyrims. sure felt like it at least
>missing the point
Does mommy still dress you? What Oblivion had by design Skyrim requires you to Google, and only works on one of the platforms the game was released on.
Yeah, they look fucking ridiculous. Still a trillion times better than a wagon ride, though.
I preferred it over the carriage, starting a new game and dealing with that shit was annoying. Pretty much an unskippable cutscene that goes on for far too long.
Its memorable just like Jiub and Valen Dreth.
Not to mention half the fucking mods in existence seem to break the scripting for that sequence and make it impossible to actually start the game
It was until I realized I couldn't skip it. Then I really hated it.
Hiring an expensive actor to voice a guy for five minutes doesn't impress me.
not really
>have a framerate higher than 60 or 72
>the cart starts freaking out and going all over the place
>long
its fine for a first time introduction but it really needed an option to skip it, or at least fast foward it
played skyrimvr yesterday on my shitty vr headset, even though it has a better resolution and lenses than an oculus or vive.
wont be doing that again.
This.
Didn't exactly give you an incentive to follow the main quest, but that was never the point anyway
you can easily go over 60fps with ini tweaks or the havok fix mod
>he fought for the empire after they tried to execute him without a valid reason
>he fought to suck elf cock
>he fought to ban Talos
Why?
Skyrim belongs to the nords prove me wrong.
Ulfric is a Thalmor agent.
No. this was kino though
Hadvar was supposed to be the one to show you that not all imps are bad they're just drones who shrug at atrocities
Moot point since the Empire circa Skyrim is indeed bad and the choice for advanced brainlets.
>reddit team
YIKES
Bugs? In creation engine?
Hadvar or Ralof?
probably one of the best RPG intros ever
Very cozy, especially when it's foggy/raining
I don't know what you're talking about but you seem upset
i like it but i'm also a huge fan of skyrim in general
Your motherfucking life ends 3 hours from now
For those who don’t know, Skyrim Unbound is a mod that basically lets you skip the main quest, and chose wether you’re dragon born or not. It also can determine wether you are able to use magic or not. It’s a pretty awsome mod
Some mesh mod fucked it for me, found a fix tho, game is garbage anyway
when will they bring back Sutch?
>Very cozy, especially when it's foggy/raining
It's never raining. The intro has scripted weather. It's always dull and foggy at first and then clears to bright and sunny when you arrive at helgen.
Hello brainlet.
This was the incompetence of a single officer, not the entire empire
What did Skyrim do right?
The best part about the intro is seeing the extensive torture chambers and dungeons the Imperials have beneath Helgen, complete with corpses and fucking SKELETONS
And then being retarded enough to think these are the good guys
>play Nord
>everyone treats you like an outsider
How the fuck would they know?
Made alot of money
modding
Same way everyone knows you're a dirty outlander in Morrowind
Your character uses the equivalent of reddit spacing or something
Accent.
Immersive Armors bug
>"IT'S IN THE CLOUDS!"
>dragon noisily lands on top of the tower
Just always felt off. No matter your race you get treated the same. Guess it would be too much work to add different dialogues and character reactions. Khajiits, Argonians, Redguards and Dunmers should be viewed hostilely and with contempt by everyone in Skyrim. For that matter your class should change their perceptions as well. Nords don't like magic users. there are a couple throwaway lines about not using magic or wizard's robes but how about their interactions with you and your relation with them being drastically altered because you ar ea magic user? Just fucking lazy.
Dragonborn is probably the best DLC Bethesda has ever put out. It rivals NV even.
>"IT'S IN THE TREES!"
>Hounds of Love starts playing
The setting is nice. I really like snowy landscapes.
lizzard and kitty titties
The combat itself is better than Oblivion... kinda like how F4's combat was better than F3's.
They obviously aren't interested in making RPGs with any interesting RPG-elements - might as well make action games.
>if i pull that off would you die?
reminder that the dunmer should join the stormcloaks and definitely not the empire
maybe i downloaded a mod
Yeah in a perfect world Bethesda could pull that off reliably, in the real world they had severe gamebreaking quest bugs that never ever got fixed even though they rereleased the game five times.
Generally though no RPG is remotely good about being that reactive, remember Dragon Age and the persistent disconnect of playing a Blood Mage that is never acknowledged?
>Why didn't this game have infinite scope?
Gee, I wonder why...
You get different NPC barks based on player race and "class". That's enough for the majority of people. No one, for example, is going to be happy to pick a khajit and then discover they can't enter any town and therefore 90% of the quests in the game are unavailable to them. That's just a stupid idea and relegates that particular race to the "useless" category.
You probably broke the game. Try buy it one more time it will work great.
you know skyrim is complete garbage when fucking ESO has better writing
>No one, for example, is going to be happy to pick a khajit
I would for the verisimilitude of being a complete sneak-thief to survive
It's funny but there are mods to make nords more racist to certain races just so the player can feel more victimized and oppressed
>Just fucking lazy.
yeah lol game should have infinite budget
There's a mod that does nothing but change the scripted weather of the intro to be raining? It's scripted so no global weather mod will have any effect on it. I think you are lying, user.
>H-h-how could you side with the Stormcloacks? Don't you know that they're RACIST? Are you RACIST?! W-w-what do you mean they fight for their freedom of worship? They're obviously fighting to keep their elf slaves...
>goes on to defend the historically oppressed dunmer
yea but when you talk to tulius he literally says he doesn't give a fuck about Skyrim and that he's just there on work
no i meant maybe as in i might have had a mod
i might have just assumed that since it's always foggy one of the times it might have been rainy
im surprised you have so much knowledge about a random intro to a game
It makes sense for the dunmer to join the stormcloaks
Nords have done a lot for morrowind since the red year, with the giving of solstheim and letting them stay in riften/windhelm. Lot of friction between the two obviously but pragmatically joining up with them makes a lot of sense
a lot more than dunmer joining the fucking empire does anyway
It was serviceable for its time, but as soon as the modding started, it became a nuisance.
>im surprised you have so much knowledge about a random intro to a game
I mod the game myself. I've explored how Bethesda does shit in the game a great deal to know what I can do and how. The helgen intro is a notorious scripting clusterfuck.
