Portal 2 Appreciation Thread

Portal 2 is one of the best games ever made, change my mind.

i really like it
wish they released it for the 3DS though, I want to play on the go

i like portal 2

The ending always makes me kinda sad knowing its the end of both the story and a large part of what made valve great

1 is better

This was Valve's final single player game.

I agree, I have the turret song from the end on my music playlist and every time I hear it a little part of me dies inside

I prefer Portal to Half Life

It's their last good game in general, it all went downhill from there.

Save the best for last

translation of the lyrics is literally "goodbye my dear"
;_;

Something in me breaks when the door at the end slams with you outside in a peaceful field knowing your adventure is over and you can never return

If you want to relive the adventure, try this mod, it's IMO the best one for Portal 2:

It's fully voiced.

The writing was pure garbo and the puzzle designs were shit and basically a game of finding the single portalable tile in the map since everything else was gray walls and clutter.

Are we allowed to like Portal 2 here again? Thank god, I missed talking about this game; one of my all time favorites for sure.

>Ywn play through coop mode with a friend for the first time ever again.

lmao imagine ever getting stuck in portal 2, the game valve focus grouped to be immediately beatable by literal retards

it's pretty cringy though
this is not untrue, but the free custom level workshop was fucking amazing and saved the lackluster difficulty of the main game
the multiplayer levels (especially the dlc ones) were also quite interesting and creative, and really made the game wonderful.

What do you mean, the writing was amazing! At sometimes I agree that the level design was lacking but you gotta admit that the addition of the gels was really cool. And how did you have trouble finding portalable surfaces? You just sucked at the game then lmao

How did you manage to get the complete opposite of what I said? The puzzles practically play by themselves since the possibilities are so limited and the only "difficulty" comes from finding the wall you are supposed to portal to next.
The first game had far more open-ended and clever design, 2 has too many gimmicks and feels too long.

Damn that hurts user

It's been so long that I feel like it could be recreated. I don't remember anything from that coop

I wish I could, OP

>using exclamation marks
Stop being female

Portal 2?? damn straight son now that was a game worth playing not the mass produced shit they put out nowadays

this shit is 8 years old already. what the fuck valve

>It ain't over till the fat lady sings
I really don't want another Portal game. It's over guys. It was great

Although the main story puzzles were subpar, what really made the game were the co-op and custom maps.

The writing and puzzles for co-op mode was pretty great though.

making chains of 4 portals in coop and figuring out how to get both of them from one side to the other with gradually more complicated and elaborate tools is easily one of the best gaming experiences i've ever had
i got to do it with my little brother and let him figure most of it out, which was really chill and fun

I thought this too, as a kid (I had "PORTAL 2 is the greatest game ever" on my steam profile. I was like 13, sue me.). A sequel with funny characters and better graphics, new gimmicks and puzzles. It's sad that Valve hasn't made a proper game like this in a while.

>Valve will never make another amazing single-player game ever again that isn't some dumb VR game

And that's a good thing, just let flatscreen ooga booga gaming die already.

>13 when Portal 2 came out
>Portal 2 came out 8 years ago
I was about to call you underage before I realized the harsh truth.

We'll be lucky if they even make another first-person game that isn't VR. Luckier still if they finally release Source 2 for public use (no, Dota 2 doesn't count, the tools are limited for custom game modes).
