None of the others blackmailed for something they KNEW was dangerous. Futaba, for example, immediately withdrew her request when she knew it wasn't something that could be easily just by being in the same room as her. Makoto knew dealing with the mafia was dangerous, Phantom Thief or no, but didn't really care.

I mean, kinda the problem with Persona stories is that people do dumb shit and the fanbase just writes it off as "they're just kids" or "he was overconfident". Points to Atlus for selling that, but the writing is still subpar.
For example, Adachi had no reason to go full retard in the hospital in front of Dojima. He did because the plot finally got around to going somewhere. Only after Naoto arrived to advance the plot from the same place it was 3 dungeons prior. I don't expect good writing, but the games are fun.
