Or try Pokemon. It's in the opposite direction of YGO by being a very non-interactive game, but it's really comfy and has the best official client out of the big three.

I think Yugioh has made itself shit by creating such a focus on OTKs. You either stall with enough "no" cards until you get your big OTK or you get lucky enough that your opponent didn't draw any no cards.
That's just my opinion though

literally all current meta decks are like that, the only ones that relies entirely on links are Sky strikers and salamangreats. Thunder dragons, which are the best deck right now are a fusion deck. Not that you would know, as you obviously dont even play the game.

I'll add something. There is a world of difference between "non-viable" and "not usable".
Non-viable means that the deck probably won't win. It's jank, it's rogue, it's bad, whatever you want to call it. But the deck can still function, it can still do what it wants to do without having to jump through extra hoops (that aren't a part of said plan). You could play elemental heroes during synchro era, it wasn't viable, but you could still do it. You could play synchro decks without a single xyz monster during xyz formats with the same logic. It was your choice to not run them.
What differentiates MR4 from these, is that you are now REQUIRED to run Links in extra-deck decks even if you didn't want to. You now have to devote space, resources, and game plans on getting your required link monsters out first, and then you can move on with your deck.

Do you see the difference?

If I want to run outright bad 2006 era fusion spam heroes, new game rules will not let me do that without running the new support. Gem Knights are in the same boat, they got a links support card which really helped them out, but what if I don't want to run that? The new game rules won't let me play an old styled fusion spam gem knight build without first getting out phantom quartz.

the upper limit is what's in your hand and 5 monster card zones. Pendulum monsters start out in the main deck, not the extra deck. They go there when destroyed. I think with Links now they can only be summoned to linked zones or some shit.

Let's explain it this way. Say you got a full grip of 6 monsters with 2 of them pendulum monsters that let you summon the rest of what's in your hand. You set the scales and drop 4 beatsticks and swing. Your opponent mirror forces or some shit.
You now have no cards in hand, and no monsters on the field.

I miss six samurai era bros, getting off from middle-school, login into dueling network on my crappy laptop, and dunking it out in rank with my grave keeper deck or my six samurai deck. Then doing some friendlies with my frens and shit.

Now what I see is six hour long first turn to roll trough 3/4th of your deck and summon 5 fucking effect monsters all with immunities and negates and trash.

All I know what to do anymore is summon drident, it's been so long. I don't know what yugioh is anymore. The other day, I summoned a monster and tried to put cowboy on it. With one material. Everything has become zoodiac to me. There are no other monsters, no spells other than barrage. The only trap i know how to activate is dimensional barrier. Occasionally I send combo to grave, and I cry a little. I attack for game but wish I was being gamed instead. It's become a joke of sorts, or maybe it's just my life. I can't go anywhere without seeing zoo. I went to feed my dog the other night, but instead of eating she summoned a goat from the graveyard with it's effects negated. I had to put her down. I sit in the corner now counting down the days, the days where we shall see sweet release from this torment, the day when xyz summoning was about 2 monsters having a special bond and creating something beautiful. Those days are long gone. I have seen God, and I have seen the devil, but they are one and the same. I stared into the abyss and screamed, and it screamed back: "summon rat effect”

Well you already have to use 2+ cards just to start the summon, so unless you get +1 draws or use combos it's not effcient. Pends real advantage is that so long as they have the right pends in the s/t zones they can constantly recover to some extent. Thus they're fucked by backrow.
Also MR4 screwed with pendulum hard. They now can only bring out as many as link arrows allow, or 1 in the extra zone.

We just got 3 archetypes, only one of which were those three. The other two were soulcalibur tier edgelords and fucking construction/excavation vehicles.

Links are bad design by default in my opinion because you have to use them to realistically use your extras deck. At least with synchro, xyz, and pendulum I could ignore them.

But yes, MR4 was mainly used as a control valve against pendulumns (Funnily enough this only really hurt the weaker pend decks as they dont have links of their own yet and konami gave the more dangerous/new pend archetypes links)

What I don't understand is why the FUCK! hasn't Capcom made a Battle Network game for smartphones or the Switch? I remember back in the day when the released PETs and they were fairly popular with kids. You'd think they'd realize by know that those kids have all grown up, all have smartphones, and now have nostalgia for this franchise. When you think about it we're literally living in the future of Megaman EXE where we could all have our own NetNavis on our smartphones that could connect into different wifi hotspots and go on adventures fighting viruses, collecting chips, powering up our Navis. How has Capcom not even attempted something like this after seeing the success of Pokemon Go and the popularity of TCGs on app store?
